2020-10-13 Thread tim474
Seems to be fixed in sof v.1.6: https://github.com/thesofproject/sof/issues/2828
Can you add new SOF to linux-firmware?

** Bug watch added: github.com/thesofproject/sof/issues #2828
   https://github.com/thesofproject/sof/issues/2828

** Package changed: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) => linux-firmware (Ubuntu)

Hui Wang, after I have updated pulseaudio from your ppa to
1:13.99.1-1ubuntu3.3++lp1882191, the problem started again. Input port
automatically switches to Headphones Stereo Mircophone, and no sound, if
I don't switch back manually.

Hui Wang, sorry, your fix works not every time. Sometimes switches
correctly, sometimes not (but there is "Headset Mono microphone" as
input port). I should or unplug and plug headphones several times, or
manually switch port to stereo microphone and back.

>For the issue of the default input device, we are working on it

But this issue has been resolved in OEM version of ubuntu 18.04.

And I have noticed another problem. If I plug HDMI display (without
audio), and then unplug headphones, the sound automatically swithces to
HDMI output (and in Speaker + Headphones output there is no swithcing
to speaker). I should do it manually and select correct sink to restore
sound.

[Bug 1881659] Re: Dell Inspirion 5391: headphones work only if I manually switch source port every time and no different volume levels for speaker and headphones

2020-06-16 Thread tim474
Yes. Headphones work with this version of Pulseaudio. Thank you. But
there is still a problem with volume level. If I plug and unplug
headphones, Speaker volume level drops to level of headphones, then I
can't separate set up volume level for headphones and speaker. But there
is no this problem with OEM version of Ubuntu.

And another problem. If I plug headphones with mic, set external mic as
input device (in pavucontrol), unplug and plug again, the default source
device is still internal mic. I want to set up automatic switching to
external mic if I plug it. As in previous case, there is not such
problem in OEM ubuntu.

[Bug 1881659] [NEW] Dell Inspirion 5391: headphones work only if I manually switch source port every time and no different volume levels for speaker and headphones

2020-06-01 Thread tim474
Public bug reported:

I have a laptop Dell Inspirion 5391 that was shipped with Ubuntu 18.04,
and it doesn't have such problems. But I have manually installed Xubuntu
20.04 LTS (firstly because I need full disk encryption with LUKS). And I
have two problems the with sound system:

1) If I plug headphones, there is no sound. Sound becomes only if I
manually switch source port to "Headset Mono microphone" from
"Headphones stereo microphone" in pavucontrol or with the command:

pacmd set-source-port 4 "[In] Headset"

or with ALSA:

amixer set 'Input Source' 'Headset Mic'

I have a workaround with /etc/acpi/events, but it is not seamless (I
have an one second delay when I plug the headphones).

2) There is no separate volume levels for speaker and headphone in
pulseaudio.

[Bug 1880991] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2020-05-27 Thread tim474
Public bug reported:

Sometimes there is an X11 freeze. Usually it happens when I connect to a
Zoom conference, but latest (and at least one previous) it happened when
I wasn't using Zoom. The symptoms were same: still image, but mouse
cursor could be moved. I can switch to another terminal (ctrl+alt+f1),
when I return to the GUI, there is only black screen with moving mouse
cursor.

I can only restart lightdm.

UPDATE: Ctrl+alt+F1 and terminal doesn't work too.

But here is a workaround with disabling accelerometer:

echo "0" > "/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2.4/power/autosuspend"
echo "auto" > "/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2.4/power/level"
echo 1-2.4 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/unbind

2017-03-20 Thread tim474

If I use touchscreen without touch-egg, it emulates left mouse button

one finger tap on window header (for close the window or move it by
dragging) become not to work.

How can I fix it?

[Bug 1669620] Re: Reboot when resume from suspend

2017-03-04 Thread tim474
Yes, with kernel 4.10.1-041001-generic there is the same problem.

** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream

** Description changed:

When I resume my computer from suspend2ram, after about 2 seconds it
shutdowns and after about 3 seconds swithces on, and system starts to
boot from GRUB as it was poweroff.

But if I resume my computer right away after it was suspended, it
resumes properly. I occur this problem if some amount of time passed
  between suspend and resume.

And I didn't reproduce this problem when lightdm was stopped (but the
screen is black after resume, but I can login via SSH). But with
launched X Server the problem occurs both with nouveau and Nvidia
  proprietary driver.

There is not this problem on Ubuntu 14.04 (it is installed on this
computer too but without madm and root partition encryption).

[Bug 1669620] [NEW] Reboot when resume from suspend

2017-03-02 Thread tim474
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1652562] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E130] BCM4313: very slow speed with brcmsmac

2017-01-01 Thread tim474
>tim474, the latest mainline kernel is 4.10-rc1 (not 4.4, or 4.9).

When I tried, it was 4.9. I'll try with 4.10, but I doubt that it was fixed. I
tried Ubuntu 16.04 on another laptop (Samsung NF-310) with the same WiFi chip:

>Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn
Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:4727] (rev 01)

And on Samsung it works properly.

And on Lenovo E130 I noticed that brcmsmac can work properly if I
install wl propriteary driver, and do

>rmmod wl
>modprobe bcma
>modprobe brmsmac

and don't reboot or suspend. After reboot (with blacklisting wl and
unblacklisting brcmsmac and bcma) or suspend-resume it has the same
problem.

Maybe cause of the problem is firmware?

And I noticed a problem with wl. It doesn't connect to some public
networks. But brcmsmac (after the hook above) or windows (on the same
laptop) connects to them.

[Bug 1650785] [NEW] Sometimes WiFi doesn't work after power on/resume

2016-12-17 Thread tim474
Public bug reported:

Sometimes after I power on laptop or resume it from suspend/hibernate,
it doesn't connect to any WiFi network (but can find APs). This problem
is both with network manager and wicd. Wicd stops to connect when trying
to authorize.

Restarting of NM/Wicd, removing and inserting wl module don't help. Only
reboot or suspend and resume help.

I didn't try it with brcmsmac because there is very slow connection
speed with this driver.

If I don't use NM, there is connection "bnep0", but it is not
configured. If I can turn off this connection in Blueman, Blueman hungs.

In Ubuntu 11.04 it had worked. I tried to install previous version of
blueman from Natty repositories and newer (1.23) version from ppa. But
there is some trouble with these versions.
