[Bug 1241391] Re: Release upgrade to 13.10 breaks on Macbook Pro Retina 15
Brian, thank you for your suggestion. I found out about the xorg-edgers files by going through synaptic descriptions. After manually removing all references and deinstalling facebook account settings the upgrade went smoothly. However, the link you present (you did that on another posting as well) does NOT contain any reference on how to remove the files or revert to the old settings. There are still some glitches but I'm happy now. [Bug 1241391] Re: Release upgrade to 13.10 breaks on Macbook Pro Retina 15
The PPA page contains the following text: To revert to official packages, install the ppa-purge package and run sudo ppa-purge xorg-edgers. Note: This currently has issues in oneiric because ppa-purge there does not work with multiarch. ppa-purge packages from this PPA do purge correctly on precise and newer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241391 Title: Release upgrade to 13.10 breaks on Macbook Pro Retina 15 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1241391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1241391] Re: Release upgrade to 13.10 breaks on Macbook Pro Retina 15
Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page, https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to how to revert to the official Xorg packages. ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Tags added: ppa xorg-edgers-ppa -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241391 Title: Release upgrade to 13.10 breaks on Macbook Pro Retina 15 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1241391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Seems #1241741 and #1241898 have the same issue I removed the x-edger ppa as suggested in 1241741 to no avail The update breaks not only on macs I could not find any indication in the log files.
