Dilton McGowan II, You are welcome, and I think I was just doing what I should do. That might be how the open source project works. And regarding the BIOS upgrade, my Dell PCs have UEFI and support to upgrade BIOS directly from BIOS using the windows upgrade file when power on. That's why I could upgrade it even I didn't have Windows installed. You might check if you are lucky enough to have that option in your BIOS. And you could also try to use a USB stick to run a temporary Windows image, but it might need some extra work I think. Henry Zing, I'm glad you were able to apply the BIOS update and that you confirmed that this is a major problem for both of us. I think we both realize this is not a BIOS issue and Canonical needs to back out the change(s) that led to this report. I can't run a BIOS update as HP's utility is Windows based and I removed Windows on Day 1. This is something that I'd imagine quite a few Ubuntu users do, why would we want to run Windows again? I've updated my BIOS to the latest, but the problem is still happening. Below is the BIOS information: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date A07 01/14/2015 And I have 2 Dell PC of the same model, both have this problem. This only happens on 3.13.0-53. Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch), I checked the page you linked to. The BIOS update is a Windows executable. I don't have Windows on this system and haven't since the day it arrived. I went ahead and downloaded sp70266.exe and tried running it under wine and it of course, failed. I ran the commands you asked for, here is the output: 8.14 12/17/2012 "Thank you for your understanding." after "your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS" indicates a level of condescension and is not appreciated. The network has worked fine for 2 years, 100%. I also met the problem. After several minutes, the network can't be reached.
