This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu. Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty? i use nvidia-glx . . . i dont have this bug, but I confirm that on upgrade to the version below of kernel, i lose nvidia driver unless I do the following ___ I'm using 2.6.24-12-generic upgraded from feisty fresh install to hardy dev version (as of todays versions). Same here, no nvidia. I followed the instructions on removing packages on page 1... in synaptic i removed with config also: nvidia-glx 1:96.43.05+2.6.24.11-12.31 linux-restricted-modules-generic 2.6.24.12.13 linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic 2.6.24-12.22 along with their 'virtual' dependencies. I agree, they are definitely very similar. My bug was actually occurring with both the generic and the rt kernels (I'm wanting to jam with UbuntuStudio too). Both the generic and the rt kernels work with the latest nvidia driver if I add Option NvAGP 0 to the xorg.conf file. I'm not sure whether that's actually impacting graphics performance, though.
