@Jean-Baptiste Lallement: You can't upgrade the kernel from a live cd. I'm closing this report because it is not a bug. I disagree -- this is indeed a bug. If it's not possible to upgrade the kernel, that's fine. But in that case, the kernel version should be locked for live CD / live USB bootups. (e.g. in Synaptic via Lock Version in the Package) Currently, sudo apt-get upgrade is forever broken, because it always tries fails to install the kernel update. This is a huge turn-off for anyone trying out usb-creator-built persistent USB installations. -- package linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic 2.6.27-7.14 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 292159 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292159 Daniel, I agree with you and disagree with my previous comment. Due to the number of users experiencing this issue, this is indeed a bug. From a user point of view, the upgrade should be locked or at least should not fail if the package is not upgradeable. Since my aforementioned comment, bug 292159 has been chosen as the master report, and all other report will be attached to this one. Thanks for your help to make Ubuntu better. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 292159 update-initramfs is disabled since running on a live CD but it is running from a flash drive. -- package linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic 2.6.27-7.14 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
