[Bug 312270] Re: [i965] Xorg lockup
Geir, thank you for your care about it. I think I messed up this bug report, as I finally realized it is about several possibly unrelated issues: I apologize. Actually, the originally reported lockup events has ceased after deactivating NetworkManager on boot and manually setting up the network after login. I have no idea whether the bug is in NetworkManager or in Xorg, but at least there is a workaround. Regarding the kernel panic, I submitted a new bug (Bug #321972), and provided more detailed information pertaining this specific issue. [Bug 312270] Re: [i965] Xorg lockup
Since all the necessary log files are here, I'm setting the status to confirmed. There have been a number of fixes in the driver in the upcoming Jaunty release. It would be very helpful if you could test if this is still a problem in Jaunty. There is a recent alpha release at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ that you could try. If it is still a problem in Jaunty, we would appreciate the log file from this release as it may contain more up-to-date information. Most bugs reported are critical issues that should be taken into serious consideration (if the video driver isn't working, the user experience is not very good). The reality is, however, that there is a very limited number of Ubuntu developers that work on Xorg, and they have to prioritize among all these serious issues. To help them do this you may help triage bugs (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToTriage). For the all Xorg-related bugs it is essential that the log file Xorg.0.log (or the .old version if this is where the problem is) and the output of `lspci -vvnn` is attached (see a more complete list at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting). For more detailed information about triaging Xorg-bugs see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Triaging . Right now there is simply not enough manpower to triage all bugs as quickly as many reporters would like. You can make a difference by becoming a triager. -- [i965] Xorg lockup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Anyone there??? I think the status should be at least CONFIRMED. This is a critical issue, that should be taken into serious consideration. I would appreciate any feedback about this bug report. I got the same kernel panic described as above. The kdm.log file reports (EE) intel(0): underrun on pipe B!: Note that your system uses syslog. All of kdm's internally generated messages (i.e., not from libraries and external programs/scripts it uses) go to the daemon.* syslog facility; check your syslog configuration to find out to which file(s) it is logged. PAM logs messages related to authentication to authpriv.*. Same problem here, with same laptop model. After all icons in splash dialog are displayed, KDE startup suspends. Sometimes mouse and keyboard do not respond completely, neither ctrl+alt+backspace nor SysRq+b working. Any hint? [Bug 312270] Re: [i965] Xorg lockup
Today I had a kernel panic!! I brought my laptop to my office, where we have a ethernet LAN, while at home I only have a wireless network. I could successfully login, KDE started and all was fine on the desktop, until I inserted the cable into the ethernet port. Then, as soon as I put my finger on the touchpad, the capslock key started blinking and the system hung again. File kern.log follows. ** Attachment added: kern.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21059213/kern.log -- [i965] Xorg lockup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
