[Bug 365898] Re: skim doesn't always minimize to system tray
Sorry, I posted the last comment by mistake. I've experienced this problem with both 9.04 and 9.10, and have had the SKIM system tray icon and the Skype icon as the main culprits, however I think the Skype icon issue was under 9.04 and KDE 3 with Compiz. AFAIK, this only occurs at random as on most occasions that I log in, the SKIM icon is in the system tray. These are the details of my /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/skim file: XIM=SCIM XIM_PROGRAM= if [ -e /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/*/immodules/im-scim-bridge.so ]; then GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge elif [ -e /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/*/immodules/im-scim.so ]; then GTK_IM_MODULE=scim else GTK_IM_MODULE=xim fi if [ -e /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/im-scim-bridge.so ] || [ -e /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/inputmethods/im-scim-bridge.so ]; then QT_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge elif [ -e /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so ]; then QT_IM_MODULE=scim else QT_IM_MODULE=xim fi DEPENDS=skim, scim-bridge-client-gtk | scim-bridge-client-qt | scim- bridge-client-qt4 | scim-gtk2-immodule | scim-qtimm I'm not sure what I else I can tell you to make this post more useful, but I'm happy to follow any instructions to try and solve this bug. ** Attachment added: SKIM plasma bug http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37017359/kubuntu%20plasma%20sys%20tray%20bug.jpeg -- skim doesn't always minimize to system tray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 365898] Re: skim doesn't always minimize to system tray
Attaching my skim xinput.d file. Slightly modified to add XIM_PROGRAM, _ARGS, and _PROGRAM_SETS_ITSELF_AS_DAEMON. Else xim stuff didn't work. [Bug 365898] Re: skim doesn't always minimize to system tray
Okay, I managed to reproduce and workaround the phenomenon, though still on the same system. To reproduce, (I simply need to) log out and log back in. Alternatively, when logged in, zap (ctrl+alt+backspace, if enabled), or change to a tty and do 'sudo service kdm restart'. Once logged back in, it'll detach to its own window. To work around, *log out*, then when logged out restart KDE with 'sudo service kdm restart'. Alternatively, reboot. Key is to properly log out first before working on getting back into X. Once logged back in, it'll dock to the tray. One other small thing I noticed is that even with kdm stopped, scim- launcher stays resident. -- skim doesn't always minimize to system tray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
