[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2015-11-28 Thread stupenDOS
Hallo all,
this bug affects also ubuntu 14.04 - namely ubuntu mate 14.04 64 bit.
The solution already proposed (see below) works perfectly on Aspire One 523h.
Thanks

---
The link is here

. Afater download unpack it, make and install it.

Before make sure you have the compiler installed:

*sudo apt-get install build-essential* - this will install what you need
to compile the driver.

now change to the download directory and unpack:*
tar zvxf keucr.tgz*

Now change to the unpacked folder:*
cd keucr*

And now make the following steps as root inside the "keucr" folder or
path:

* *make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules*
* *sudo make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd`
  modules_install*
* *sudo depmod -a*

Now your module should work. It worked for me in Acer Aspire One 532h...

Hope it help you.

Greetings,

*Alexandre Martins*

Hi,
Sorry I have no new info. I tend to stay with
stable systems and my notebook is still on Ubuntu
10.10. Now that they have stopped updating the
kernel I don't even have to rerun the keucr stuff
anymore. I use the algorithm if it ain't bust don't try and fix it
Best of luck.

I hope this problem will be solved soon!

I have an Acer NAV50 532h netbook running Ubuntu 12.10, which previously
did not recognize my card reader. After following the instructions in

now that the card reader is working:

Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

I did get a few errors when I ran make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname

Props to joselaurian, this problem had been bugging the crap out of me!

Re: [Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-12-21 Thread NigelBennee
Hi,
Thank you for your email. I am using 10.10 on an Acer Aspire One D255
and almost every time I allow an update to take place that affects the
kernel I lose the SD reader. However the keurcr fix works very well and
I just run a small script -

cd /home/nigel/Downloads/keucr
make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules
sudo make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules_install
sudo depmod -a

and I have my SD reader back until the next upgrade.

The other difference seems to be that on 10.10 I do not have a
sub-directory called modules under /etc . I have modules.d but no
mention of acpiphp. All the aciphp files on my system are to be found
in /lib/modules/.../kernel/drivers/pci/hotplug.

I am quite happy to have to apply a patch like this as it is a small
price for the stability and reliability of Linux compared to the other
MS options.

The last update lost me the link again between the sound drivers and
apps like sound recorder and Skype. I can't remember how I got it back
last time. The system test runs all paths successfully i.e. internal
external mic, internal speakers headphones so the hardware is good.
The level meter also works but no mike input gets to the top level app.
Playback is fine. I have reported it but been too busy to chase it just
now.

Thanks again

Nigel.

2011-10-17 Thread heyplaynow
Hi everyone,

I had instaled ubuntu Lucyd in ACER A0532h with 32 bits kernel and SD
card reader works fine doing the steps of @ Alain Danger but with one
variance in the 7º step ^^:

1 : download the driver kindly provided by Konstantin Katuev HERE
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/530277/+attachment/1714152/+files/keucr.tgz

2 : copy the file to /usr/src (Remember, you must be super user)

3 : untar it

4 : rename the folder to keucr-0.0.1

5 : create the file /usr/src/keucr-0.0.1/dkms.conf, and insert this :
PACKAGE_NAME=keucr
PACKAGE_VERSION=0.0.1
CLEAN=rm -f *.*o

BUILT_MODULE_NAME[0]=keucr
MAKE[0]=make -C $kernel_source_dir
M=$dkms_tree/$PACKAGE_NAME/$PACKAGE_VERSION/build
DEST_MODULE_LOCATION[0]=/extra

AUTOINSTALL=yes

6 : add the driver to dkms
dkms add -m keucr -v 0.0.1

7: HERE IS THE VARIANCE THANKS TO @ joann f:

You can try to add this after the all the includes of usb.c (line 19) :

#define usb_alloc_coherent(a, b, c, d) usb_buffer_alloc(a, b, c, d)
#define usb_free_coherent(a, b, c, d) usb_buffer_free(a, b, c, d)

8 : build the module
dkms build -m keucr -v 0.0.1

9 : install the module
dkms install -m keucr -v 0.0.1

10 : append the module to /etc/modules
echo keucr  /etc/modules

Thanks a lot to the developer of the driver and all people that make this
posible.

Bye

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-05-23 Thread Panagiotis
Hello,
I'm really new with the ubuntu concept. I installed version 11.04 on Acer
Aspire One D255 netbook. I also have problems with my SD card reader. Is the
solution #149 right for me ? Should I do something else ?

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-05-23 Thread NigelBennee
Thanks to all those who collectively worked on solving this problem. I used the
recipe #149 and it worked faultlessly. I have an AAO D255 with 10.10 on it. It
came with Win7 which could handle all its peripherals but the switch to Remix
9.x did for Skype, SD reader. I needed Wine to try and make some custom Win
code work, which didn't, so I removed Wine again. This also took away metacity.
I could still use the machine but finally made the effort today and with the
help of the contributors to launchpad have a fully working system now: Title
bars on windows, Sound on Skype and the ability to read SD cards. I might still
have a problem with the wired ethernet - must check.
Nigel.

2011-03-26 Thread yoann f
About solution #149

Ubuntu 10.04 - 64bits
kernel 2.6.32.30-generic

If you have compilation error : implicit declaration of
usb_alloc_coherent on line 293 in usb.c

You can try to add this after the all the includes of usb.c (line 19) :

#define usb_alloc_coherent(a, b, c, d) usb_buffer_alloc(a, b, c, d)
#define usb_free_coherent(a, b, c, d) usb_buffer_free(a, b, c, d)

It worked like a charm for me. Did not even required to reboot, it
worked immediately.

Thanks to all contributors for this driver ! :-D

Re: [Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-02-24 Thread joselaurian
You can try with keucr driver for 10.04 and 10.10 too. Just try the next
steps:

1. Install build-essential (sudo apt-get install build-essential) on
terminal.

2. Down the keucr driver. The link is here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/530277/+attachment/1714152/+files/keucr.tgz
Now, you have too options: install it on terminal or intall it with a
script. To install the keucr on terminal you must to write the next
commands:

3. Now change to the download directory and unpack: tar zvxf keucr.tgz

4. Now change to the unpacked folder: cd keucr

5. make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules
sudo make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules_install
 sudo depmod -a

At this time the keucr driver must be installed and working. Just restart
your pc and try it.

The another option is to install the driver with a scrip. The file contains
the last commands. I attachment it. Just write on terminal: sh install.sh
and done.

Good luck!!

You may try the old method.
As a sudoer
1 : mkdir /media/sdcard
2 : mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /media/sdcard
And before removal
umount -f /dev/sdb1

2011-02-18 Thread Christian Haataja
@Nicolas Rietsch:
I could post the deb sure, but it would only work for kernel 2.6.32-28.55,
because thats the kernel I compiled it on. the driver claims to be somewhat
dynamic and i'm sure theres a way to make it work on all kernels, but right
now this is only a fix until support is officially included in the 11.04
release.

On that note, does anyone know how to make this driver work on more than
one kernel? I don't want to rebuild for the RT kernel i run also,
because im worried about the packages conflicting.

Even so, I do have quite a bit of time on my hands and I'd be happy to
compile one for you, if you post or email me your kernel version.

-Alejandro Moreno.

As far as the driver is registered in DKMS, and knowing what happens with
proprietary NVidia at kernel update, I believe that DKMS will take care of
compiling new driver upon kernel update. I did not test though.
However, repeating steps 7 to 8 should be enough.

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-02-17 Thread Nigel Pallett
Regarding my earlier post #133, I have solved the problem and
successfully built the deb containing the module on my laptop running
Ubuntu 10.10 64bit kernel 2.6.35-27-generic.

The solution is to take Konstantin Katuev's advice in post #129 - use
the source code from post #44

extract the contents of keucr.tgz after copying it to /usr/src, then
rename the extracted directory from keucr to keucr-0.0.1

Then continue with the instructions from post #116 (executing step 5
before step 4) and everything should work ok.

After installing the deb package, I inserted an RS/MMC (MMC Mobile) card
in the card slot and Ubuntu instantly recognised, mounted the card and
opened a window containing the files on the card. Happy days !!:)

I've attached the deb file in case anyone wants to try it.

2011-02-17 Thread Alain Danger
Hello guys. It works for me.

Here's the summary of what I did, thanx to everybody, and particularly
Konstantin and Vladimir :

1 : download the driver kindly provided by Konstantin Katuev HERE
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/530277/+attachment/1714152/+files/keucr.tgz
2 : copy the file to /usr/src
3 : untar it
4 : rename the folder to keucr-0.0.1
5 : create the file /usr/src/keucr-0.0.1/dkms.conf, and insert this :
PACKAGE_NAME=keucr
PACKAGE_VERSION=0.0.1
CLEAN=rm -f *.*o

BUILT_MODULE_NAME[0]=keucr
MAKE[0]=make -C $kernel_source_dir
M=$dkms_tree/$PACKAGE_NAME/$PACKAGE_VERSION/build
DEST_MODULE_LOCATION[0]=/extra

AUTOINSTALL=yes

6 : add the driver to dkms
dkms add -m keucr -v 0.0.1

7 : build the module
dkms build -m keucr -v 0.0.1

8 : install the module
dkms install -m keucr -v 0.0.1

9 : append the module to /etc/modules
echo keucr  /etc/modules

As far as I tested on my Acer emachines em350, there is no need to
insert SDCard before power-on. It works like any USB key.

the process outlined by vladimir produces a .deb file, so you don't have
to compile a custom kernel, you just have to build the package from the
sources given a la dkms. Look at post #116 (and switch steps 4 and 5).
The process is very straightforward and simple. You can seriously just
cut and paste, with sudo of course.

kudos, btw and thank you very much for the driver! Ubuntu 10.04 on
Aspire One d250 and the reader works perfectly

I understand there is no need to compile a new kernel. What we are
talking about, as you can see in my post #127, is that some are able to
build the .deb, and some are not with an compilation error at the build
step.

far...nothing.

Hi Vladimir.

I think the points 4 and 5 are inverted in your previous post, I think
one must create /usr/src/keucr-0.0.1/dkms.conf _before_ running dkms add.
Using NVidia propretary driver (I know, proprietary kills whales), I

building kernel modules.

Here is my make.log as requested:

Btw, I accidently switched point 4 and 5 from the start so that's not
the fix.

yeah it's true,
The step 4 and 5 are switched, sorry.
And you need al dependencies:
Would you have your kernel-headers installed?
Would you have installed fakeroot, patch?
I can not reproduce the problem :-(

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-02-10 Thread Vladimir_
This is the step for build a keucr module. I made this for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid
Lynx.
1.- Download the source from
http://ftp.twaren.net/Linux/Linpus/Acer_Linpus_Moblin_Lite/srpms/linpus-customize/kernel/driver-src/cardreader/ENE/R100_02_ene_card_reader.zip

2.- You need dkms and all it's dependencies.

3.- Unzip the source to /usr/src/keucr-0.0.1/. I rename the directory
from R100_02 to keucr-0.0.1

4.- Add this new sources to dkms with:
dkms add -m keucr -v 0.0.1

5.- Create into the source directory a dkms.conf like this:
PACKAGE_NAME=keucr
PACKAGE_VERSION=0.0.1
CLEAN=rm -f *.*o

BUILT_MODULE_NAME[0]=keucr
MAKE[0]=make -C $kernel_source_dir
M=$dkms_tree/$PACKAGE_NAME/$PACKAGE_VERSION/build
DEST_MODULE_LOCATION[0]=/extra

AUTOINSTALL=yes

6.- Build the module:
dkms build -m keucr -v 0.0.1

7.- Build the package:
dkms mkdeb -m keucr -v 0.0.1

8.- You can find the packages on:
/var/lib/dkms/keucr/0.0.1/deb/keucr-dkms_0.0.1_all.deb

2011-01-16 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Confirming that the ENE device is indeed supported by a new staging
driver in v2.6.37-rc1 via the commit below:

  commit 126bb03b461c2f03f2d2a43b9a587941bf146e0e
  Author: Al Cho a...@novell.com
  Date:   Wed Sep 8 00:42:32 2010 -0700

Staging: add USB ENE card reader driver

As the Natty kernel is already at v2.6.37 it should contain this driver.
Confirmed that cards are indeed detected and mounted correctly on the
latest Natty installs. Reading and writing to cards also seems to work.
Closing this Fix Released for Natty.

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-01-05 Thread Nicolas Rietsch
Hi,

I updated my kernel to 2.6.37rc8 on 10.10 but I still have the driver
issue. When inserting an SD card (noname and kingston, 1Gb both), lsusb
lists the ENE reader but the device is not available (not listed at all
in Places and Computer.

Any other idea?

Thanks.

2010-12-25 Thread van Stappen
Hello and merry xmas.
I have installed 10.10 and kernel v2.6.37-rc7.
The ene cards drivers works perfectly and wifi also but plymouth (splash prog)
does not work and have problems with amarcor.
OK it has nothing to do with ene drivers, only to notice that kernel
v2.6.37-rc7 is not fully ready.
Is it a plan to include that driver in a new kernel 10.10 ?
Thanks

Hi. Well, I dont know if a plan is to include the keucr driver into a new
kernel of 10.10. So, the specific trouble is that the keucr driver dont
works with a micro sd flash card with adapter. Why? I dont know... like
Alanis Morrisette says: This is ironic, dont you thing?... hahahaha... I
have a dream... That the new 11.04 comes with a solution to this error...
hahahah...

Thanks a lot brother... i will be waiting... and waiting... and

2010-12-24 Thread joselaurian
Merry christmas to you too. Ok, this is my report: i was change the kernel
to v2.6.37-rc6, but the sd flash memory card reader don't works. In my case,
with ubuntu 10.10 i use the keucr driver; the operating system knows the
card reader, but i can't in to the sd card. Apparently, the micro sd with
adapter has any troubles with ubuntu...

I will wait the stable version of 11.04 to probe again. Thanks!!!

2010/12/24 svenerl 530...@bugs.launchpad.net

 @joselaurian
 Yes you are right, the card reader is supported by the kernel v2.6.37-rc6.
 You do not need to install the driver if you are using kernel v2.6.37-rc6.

 As I understand it Ubuntu 11.04 will include kernel v2.6.37, but is not
 public available, but one could install the kernel v2.6.37-rc6 manually.

 Just try it yourself, there is no risk and it's not difficult.

 Merry Christmas!

  @joselaurian
 Why do you want to install the keucr driver again? You don't need the

 Anyway you can simply choose your old kernel(with the keucr driver) in your

Thanks for your answers. I have tried with rc 7 and the ene cards drivers are
also working perfectly.
But the wifi does not work. Even with a lan connection to internet and

I think that the best way is to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 and then install
rc7.
And like you know, it is a big work (i do not want to upgrade but to install a
brand new 10.10. That means backup, reinstall software, etc..).
OK, i will do it.
Thanks

I used the new Kernel v2.6.37-rc6 on my Ubuntu and everything works
fine!

Updating a kernel is very easy:

Step 1)
Download the following files from here
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.37-rc6-natty/
- linux-headers-all.deb
- linux-headers-i386.deb(if you are running a intel cpu) or
linux-headers-amd64.deb (if you are running a amd cpu)
-  linux-image-i386.deb or linux-image-amd64.deb

Step 2)
Install the files(just double-click) in the same order as listed above!

Restart. Finished.

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2010-12-10 Thread Harald LeMoyne
Any thoughts on why some SD cards work and others don't? I applied the
patch and my 8GB Kingston works (mounts, reads, writes, unmounts) My
16GB Patriot won't work at all, no mount, etc.

The errors that scroll are posted up above in my previous post.

Any ideas?

Awesome work guys!

So this should be in the next kernel update? If so, do you know when the
next kernel will be released?

Cheers,

Rob.

Re: [Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2010-12-05 Thread joselaurian
Hi bro. No... I dont know what it happen with my notebook, but I got an Acer
Aspire One 532h like you, but it can not read the SD card... I was open the
Terminal and wrote all the commands, but nothing... I am so sad... do you
know another solution??

2010/11/22 Alexandre Martins 530...@bugs.launchpad.net

 Hi Jose.

 The link is here

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/530277/+attachment/1714152/+files/keucr.tgz

 . Afater download unpack it, make and install it.

 Before make sure you have the compiler installed:

 *sudo apt-get install build-essential* - this will install what you need
 to compile the driver.

 now change to the download directory and unpack:*
 tar zvxf keucr.tgz*

 Now change to the unpacked folder:*
 cd keucr*

 And now make the following steps as root inside the keucr folder or
 path:

* *make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules*
 * *sudo make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd`
  modules_install*
 * *sudo depmod -a*

 Now your module should work. It worked for me in Acer Aspire One
 532h...

 Hope it help you.

 Greetings,

 *Alexandre Martins*

  The patch that you tell me about it is keucr? Thanks

  2010/11/19 Daniel Kingsley530...@bugs.launchpad.net

  I sympathise with Walter and Hamish (being an Ubuntu novice).

  Fortunately my brother in law isn't and was able to talk me through
 the
  process.

  What I did (with his help) was:

  1. Downloaded the patch. You can use the GUI to extract it. I left
  the extracted folder sitting in the download directory, so the path
 was
  /home/daniel/Downloads/keucr in my case (check where your browser has
  put it).

  Then open a terminal and type:

  2. sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic [note: this seemed to
  be
  unnecessary as they were already there]

  3.  sudo apt-get install build-essential

  4. Then changed directory to the path where the folder is (in my
 case)
  cd ~/Downloads/keucr
  [the capital letter is needed] [The tilda seems to be shorthand for
  /home/yourusername]

  5. Then typed the following three instructions (you'll probably need
  to
  enter your password after the second one).

  make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules
  sudo make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules_install
  sudo depmod -a

  ___

  That was it!

  I had to restart my machine (perhaps more than once).

  I thought it had had no effect and had almost given up. I then
  restarted my machine with the card in. Again, no effect (at least I
  thought) as the computer did not respond to me inserting the card ,
 but
  on checking with the Disk Utility the card was visible! I was able to
  pull photos off the SD card.

  Having unmounted the card using the Disk Utility, I reinserted the
 card
  and this time the system responded with a GUI window noting that I'd
  inserted an SD card and asking which programme I'd like to view it
  with.
  Hope this helps the other newbies like me.

Just tested in a Acer Aspire One D255, which was also presenting the
same problem. The provided driver worked fine, at least with basic
operations (mount, read, write, umount). Thanks a lot!
