[Bug 575646] Re: DBus error org.gtk.Private. RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending.

2010-11-20 Thread DavidBriscoe
@ridgerunner7: I was having the same error with my USB drives on 10.10
netbook edition. (Actually, I use desktop edition, but I use netbook-
launcher.)

I found this solution on the ubuntu forums:

Open a terminal and run gconf-editor
Browse to 'apps / nautilus / preferences'
- uncheck 'media_automount'
- uncheck 'media_automount_open'

Seems to work so far. USB drives mount and open in nautilius when
plugged in.

I get this error only with netbook edition. If I set it to log into
regular gnome when I login then the error doesn't happen when I plug in
the same usb disk. So the issue is something with Netbook edition.

[Bug 575646] Re: DBus error org.gtk.Private. RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending.

2010-05-10 Thread zob
Uh oh. This is kind of embarrasing.
Earlier this month I upgraded the firmware on my sansa clip+. That must
obviously have changed some settings on the sansa that I kind of forgot about.
I found the settings for the usb protocol on the sansa. They have to be set to
MSC. It does NOT work with neither "automatic recognition" nor "MTP".

So rey_han, sorry for messing up your bugrepport with a lot of nonsense.
(also I mistook your sandisk cruzer for a sandisk mp3-player - like my
sansa clip).

I will say, however, that the one thing I commented earlier with the
acpi=off in the bootline did solve some usb mounting problems I had
earlier.

2010-05-10 Thread zob
Just tested on a laptop (fujitsu-siemens amilo 6820), which is very different
from my desktop-computer I tested on earlier today.
I get exactly the same errors. Maybe this bug is not hardware-specific then (on
the computer-side).

I might add, and this I think is surprising, I can actually mount the

On karmic I could work around this bug by adding acpi=off to the
bootline, but lucid won't boot for me with acpi=off.

I've got an nvidia nForce3 usb 2.0 controller on my MOBO (MSI K8N-
Neo2-FX).

If I boot with the sansa clip+ attached I can make it show up in
nautilus, but I can't mount it. A dialog box appears with the error in
the bug-title here: DBus error org.gtk.Private.
