[Bug 83020] Re: Very slow BootUp and SwitchOff
M T. Hotz, as mentioned in my last message, I reloaded Dapper 6.01, ( I was afreid to become a coffe addict with all the coffe that I was preparing waiiting for Edgy 6.10 startup!.) But, if it would be of help in the process of eliminating the bug, I would be glad to reinstall the Edgy 6.10. Please, let me know. Re: [Bug 83020] Re: Very slow BootUp and SwitchOff
Mr T. Hotz, Sorry, nothing it seems to work. I fear that I have corrupted my files to the point of 'no return'. I am reinstalling the 6.01 Dapper, that, although slow, it is usable. Many thanks. [Bug 83020] Re: Very slow BootUp and SwitchOff
I didn't say to remove the pixmap... To boot without splash in the command-line, press Escape when booting and you see the Press [ESC] for grub menu option. The first option is the default, press e to edit that -- you'll see a new screen with a series of lines; the second one of which is the kernel filename and command-line. Press the down arrow to highlight this, and press e again to edit the command-line. The last two words are quiet splash, press backspace until splash has been deleted. Re: [Bug 83020] Re: Very slow BootUp and SwitchOff
Mr Scott James, I pressed Escape when booting as suggested. The Grub Menu did not contain the e option, only the drives list, ( perhaps because I had erased previously the pixmap file). I want to mention that the screen was always blank during booting up to the Gnome screen. I tried to boot in Recovery mode. In this mode, the booting speed was normal. Perhaps, it would help to solve the slow booting boog, is to reload the 6.10 disk ?. Scott James Remnant wrote: I didn't say to remove the pixmap... Remmoved splash from /usr/share/pixmaps as suggested. Unfortunatly the boot-up increased to 320 seconds and the shutdown to 146 seconds.
