[Bug 111398] mdadm fails to stop RAID on shutdown

2007-05-01 Thread astronic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mdadm

I use a RAID0 array for my root partition. Since the update from Edgy to
Feisty I get the following error message on shutdown:

* Stopping MD array md0 fail

It seems that mdadm tries to stop the RAID while it is still busy.
However on shutdown unmounting local file systems appears before
Stopping MD array md0, so in theory things should be fine, practically
however I get the aforementioned error message.

I've never manually tempered with /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf or with the
order of init scripts, so I don't see where I could possibly be at fault
here myself.

My /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf is as follows:

DEVICE partitions
ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=2
UUID=2584f8de:386621a1:7bed7f63:e8caced3
DEVICE partitions
ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=2
UUID=2584f8de:386621a1:7bed7f63:e8caced3
MAILADDR root

My runlevel 0 executes the following init scripts:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/rc0.d$ ls
K01kdm K20apportK25hwclock.sh README
S20sendsigs S40umountfsS59cryptdisks-early
K01usplash K20dbus K25mdadm S01linux-restricted-modules-common
S30urandom S48cryptdisks S60umountroot
K19hplipK20firewall K50alsa-utils S15wpa-ifupdown
S31umountnfs.sh S50mdadm-raid S90halt

Let me add that I am using pam_encfs to encrypt my home directories using the
login password. But the error also happens if I shut down the system via KDM
right after it has booted up without logging in and therefore without the
chance of encfs getting activated.

Thanks in advance for fixing this!

[Bug 111397] Nibbles (game) no longer allows 1 worm after going to 7.04 from 6.10

2007-05-01 Thread Ted Jimenez
Public bug reported:

Nibbles (game):

In Ubuntu 6.10 Nibbles would work if you chose 1 player and 0 AI players
(under preferences).

Once upgraded to Ubuntu 7.04:

I have also reinstalled 7.04 from scratch to see if it was an issue with

[Bug 111396] ntfs-3g i/o errors writing large audio files to usb hard drive

2007-05-01 Thread kubuntu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

ntfs-3g i/o errors writing large audio files to usb hard drive

when copying files from internal hdd formatted ext3 to usb 2.0 500GB
seagate hdd formatted ntfs (automagically mounted in /media as writable
using ntfs-config):

1. 100% cpu usage (constant until file transfer is killed)

2. extremely show file transfers (time remaining 2.5-3 hours for
transferring 280MB of flac, mp3, shn, and ape audio files; time
remaining 10.5 hours --and climbing-- for transferring 3.1GB of isos; 15
sec to transfer 730KB) when copying or moving files onto the ntfs volume

-large file transfers (that take 4-8 hours overnight) fail giving an
I/O error message

3. unable to eject or unmount the usb 2.0 external hard drive with
nautilus, only a sudo umount works. even sudo umount /dev/sdb1 fails,
saying device is busy. sudo umount /media/hdd-name gets rid of the
desktop icon, then sudo umount /dev/sdb1 works.

-the first time i 'ejected' the usb device, it seemed to start
working. then a message popped up from the bottom right of taskbar
saying something like the usb device can now be safely removed. this
was followed by another pop up saying not to unplug the usb device
because something still needs to be written to the disk.

4. once unmounted from cli, after unplugging the usb cable and
replugging the usb cable back in, the hdd is not automagically mounted.

5. hdd did automagically mount after power cycling the hdd and then
plugging it back in.

[Bug 111394] kmilo doesn't work at all in my laptop

2007-05-01 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdeutils

Bug reporting is quite simple also if incomplete, because I can't debug
it, however my laptop (an Acer Travelmate) multimedia keys to change
volume have been well recognized by xmodmap rule installed by Ubuntu (in
fact pressing these keys I got the right XF86 volume-related codes), but
when I press them there's no OSD and no volume change...

All works using gnome instead (or also loading gnome-settings-daemon on
a kde-session... :P Ehm, I know it's not a good thing :) )

All I can say is that kmilo is loaded by default and that I can't get
any other log about it...

Any way to post here a better report?

Attached is a debdiff with the change. Now, where I'd appreciate
mentoring is in understanding how to get this applied to 7.04, in which
it surely belongs.

[Bug 111386] gaim stretches across entire screen

2007-05-01 Thread Jamie Dalgetty
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

I'm not quite sure how to describe this so I have included a screen
shot.

I am using the current version of Ubuntu 7.04 and whatever version of
gaim is included in automatix.

Anyways, yesterday I loaded gaim and it looked like this. I cant get it to go
back. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling as well as disabling/re enabling
window effects.

http://www.dogsinduds.com/Screenshot.png

The window control extend far beyond my monitor and trying to move the
whole thing over bit by bit is useless - it keeps pushing back over.

If I try to maximize the window it doesn't make any difference.

[Bug 111385] Ubuntu cfengine classes impersonate Debian Etch

2007-05-01 Thread Mike Renfro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cfengine2

cfengine2, version 2.1.20-1 (Ubuntu 7.04 release)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# cfagent -n -v -q | grep 'Defined Classes'
Defined Classes = ( ... compiled_on_linux_gnu debian debian_4 debian_4_0 ... )

Ubuntu may be able to classify itself as debian on some level, but using
debian_4 and debian_4_0 just aren't correct. I'm in the early stages of
moving my systems into cfengine, and an etch sources.list ended up on my
Ubuntu system during an upgrade from 6.10 to 7.04. So now all my
cfengine rules are of the form:

copy:
  debian.!ubuntu::
  ...

after I defined an ubuntu class via:

classes:
  ubuntu = ( '/bin/grep -q DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu /etc/lsb-release' )

[Bug 111381] Re: firefox crashes when opened after log-in

2007-05-01 Thread John Vivirito
Thank you for the bug report. Could you please install the firefox-dbg
package and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the
instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs This will
greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package and version do you have installed?
Which Java package and version do you have installed?
Which video player and version do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions and themes do you have installed?

Does this happen if you leave firefox open when you shutdown/logout/restart?
Can you please give us a step by step way to reproduce this bug.
What version of firefox and ubuntu does this happen on?

[Bug 111380] XGL causes crash when resuming from suspend with NVIDIA cards

2007-05-01 Thread Luke12
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-new

I have done some experimenting with my Ubuntu Feisty + nvidia drivers in
order to make suspend-to-ram and -disk work, and I have discovered that
the GLX option is the one which actually crashes the suspend. I have
tested this on my Dell Inspiron 6400, with NVIDIA 7300 card, TL5600 core
duo processor. My xorg.conf file at the graphics card section reads so,
using the latest nvidia driver (have not tested it with the nvidia-glx):

Section Device
Identifier nVidia Corporation G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300]
Driver nvidia
Option NoLogo True
Option RenderAccel True
Option AddARGBGLXVisuals False
Option AllowGLXWithComposite False
EndSection

The suspend works fine but beryl/compiz do not function well: beryl for example
gives the following error: Xlib: extension GLX missing on display :0.0.
If I change the two last options to True and reboot, beryl/compiz will work,
but when resuming from suspend-to-ram/disk the screen will be black with the
cursor floating, no option of calling the terminal screen (ctrl+alt+f1),
forcing a reboot. I think therefore that it is not the NVIDIA driver itself,
but rather the GLX option which causes the crash.
I also have to report that I think I met this same bug once before, on my old
laptop, an IBM Thinkpad R50e with a i810 graphics card. While I was trying to
fix suspend on that machine I accidentally ruined my driver, in that I was no
more able to launch xgl/aiglx applications such as beryl or compiz, and as a
consequence suspend began to work. I do not remember how I did it and in fact I
was no more able to repeat the accident, but these two experiences combined
make me suspect that it is the xgl/aiglx projects which are causing the suspend
bugs.

[Bug 111379] svg_loader.so fails reading svg font for 'gnome-search-tool'

2007-05-01 Thread Karl Hegbloom
Public bug reported:

I tried to use 'gnome-search-tool' to get a list of all of the .svg
files on the system. When it finds one, it calls on the gdk_pixbuf
loader to get a picture of the .svg file to display in it's list. After
installing all of the relevant -dbgsym packages (by hand! there ought to
be a tool I can use for that) I ran the search tool like this:

 export G_DEBUG=fatal_criticals
 gnome-search-tool

... which it says to do at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOME

... and then in another console, ran:

 gdb --pid=$(pidof gnome-search-tool)

... then told it to 'cont' and entered .svg into the search box, then
selected File System, and pressed Search. It runs for a while, and
then I get:

I went to /usr/share/lilypond/2.10.5/fonts/svg with Nautilus, and it

unsetting that debug option and doing it again, I see:

2007-05-01 Thread Karl Hegbloom
I just tried to open /usr/share/openclipart/svg/tools with Nautilus, and
it crashed making icons. After it restarted itself, I attached with
GDB, and went there again. This time, it displays all of the icons just
fine... I kept clicking around, and when I got into
/usr/share/openclipart/svg/buildings, it crashed again. Hmmm... it
looks like some of them are symlinks? I wonder if that matters. Here's
the crash trace... again in Cairo. Maybe I'm reporting this against the
wrong package?

[Bug 111379] Re: svg_loader.so fails reading svg font for 'gnome-search-tool'

2007-05-01 Thread Karl Hegbloom
I'm reassigning the bug to libcairo since that's where it crashes...
Unless the error is in how the svg_loader calls Cairo? You know more
about it than I do.

** Changed in: libcairo (Ubuntu)

[Bug 111359] Re: Changing preferences on Ubuntu wiki is slow

2007-05-01 Thread Andrew Bennetts
This is a bit mysterious. It *might* be the launchpad authentication
integration code doing something unexpected (like accidentally
retrieving a list of all the wiki users from Launchpad when you save
preferences), although that seems unlikely.

Unfortunately I don't have time to look at this at the moment, but I'll
subscribe to the bug and offer any advice I can.

[Bug 111280] Re: Epiphany should depend on libxul instead of Firefox

2007-05-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
That's not that we don't agree that using xulrunner would be nice,
technically it's not easy to do though. Firefox is well known by linux
and windows users and most users want to use it so it's going to be
used. Building it with xulrunner would be lot of extra work and divert
from upstream which means we could not send backs bugs to them. The
space change is not worth the work

[Bug 110966] Re: Openoffice.org hangs refreshing UI with 100% CPU

2007-05-01 Thread Lutz
Sorry for missing the required information: I am using Ubuntu Feisty
with OOo 2.2.0-1ubuntu3.

Until now I was not able to reproduce the bug but I expect to get it in
the next few days. So please be patient. In the meanwhile I experienced
a total crash of OOo but different than the bug I reported above. For me
it happens from one second to another and I can not tell you what caused
it. OOo just crashed and was restarted afterwards automatically. Please
see the attached Valgrind logs.
