[Bug 441962] Re: zenmap: inconsistency between suggested package and method used for su-to-root/gksu
changed manually in /usr/share/applications/zenmap-root.desktop to this: TryExec=gksudo zenmap Exec=gksudo zenmap %F and all works fine. maybe this package needs replacing .desktop files for using gksudo (it is present in all *buntu spins and mixes) -- zenmap: inconsistency between suggested package and method used for su-to-root/gksu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nmap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 458637] Re: samba client unable to access Windows 7 shares
I seem to get the problem the other way, but I am using Samba on the WD My Book World Edition II using the optware package samba-3.2.15-1. I can see the list of shares, but I cannot access them, I can access the shares using my Mac though. Removing the Live Assistant fixed the problem for me as well. However, the problem was not there using the stock Samba which was running version 3.0. So there could be something between 3.0 and 3.2 of Samba that would cause the problem. -- samba client unable to access Windows 7 shares https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458637 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 452149] Re: Humanity delete icon uses a wrong concept
@Ben Romer : I havent marked this bug wont fix without putting considerable thought or effort. Bug 463802 was filed only after discussion with Rodney Dawes [fdo specs maintainer] , and he also agreed that the descriptions could be clearer. He mentioned it would be updated soon , even if Rodney fixes the description , the apps which misuse the icon far outnumber the apps which use the icon correctly. I'v tried to look into the usage of the delete icon in several apps and considered filing bugs in each of the concerned apps... but the number of apps misusing the icon are too many. That was when i noticed the gnome-icon-theme also using the same icon. When i asked the concerned devs , they mentioned that they considered using a shredder but gave up since the problem was too wide spread. Instead have used an icon similar to the humanity icon. I'v given up on this issue and considered leaving the icon as is. Since , even if the humanity icon is removed , the gnome-icon-theme fallback is gonna use a similar icon. If this is a huge problem , I could just remove the humanity icon and folks can deal with upstream gnome and the apps directly. I'v spent way too much time on this issue already :( IMO, it is easier fixing the apps which use the icon correctly , since they are just a few apps. You can check the gnome-icon at: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-icon-theme/tree/gnome http://people.freedesktop.org/~jimmac/icons/#git -- Humanity delete icon uses a wrong concept https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

RE: [Bug 483090] Re: Panel Application crash often in start up, it works 1 time on 5 after a lot of restart. The pc is a acer laptop and with 9.4 works
Hi, I've found problems during the startup of the system, after the login, during the initialization of the application panel, it block everything without reason. It's happened the first time during the upgrade from ver. 8.10 to 9.04 . I've found the bug in the meteo applet (the gadget to see the the weather in a specified location), a simple applet site on top right of control panel. One time disabled, the system starts to work perfectly. I suppose the problem still in the connection delay. In fact at startup, the system asks me the password for the wifi connection, but the applet needs to connect before to end the startup of the applet bar. That's all. Angelo. Yeah, I never once had this problem under 2.6.28 in 9.04 either. I guess this is a combination of 9.10 and any kernel? The only possible explanation to this is whether any kernel modules might be causing this problem? I'm a little unclear as to how it is that you can select an older kernel module via the standard Grub menu without having to rebuild the modules necessary for the selected kernel. Τζένη On Wed, Dec 23, 2009 at 2:00 AM, Simos Xenitellis simos.ubu...@gmail.comwrote: These are three bug reports. 1. This is also an upstream issue, and we should link to a bug report in bugzilla.gnome.org, under Product: gnome-applets, Component: keyboard indicator Either an existing report on this issue, or a new bug report. The rational here is that we want any action that adds a second (or more) keyboard layouts, should trigger the keyboard indicator to show up on the task bar. 3. When you install Ubuntu 9.10 with Greek support, the default layouts are us,gr and gr. This is messy and should be fixed. The user iterates between us, gr, gr when switching layouts, which obviously is messy. NB: When you install Linux with Greek keyboard layouts, you select the Greek layout instead of Greek Extended. We do not use Greek Extended anymore. Greek is now a superset of Greek Extended. Thus, when you install Ubuntu Linux, you do not change the default during the Keyboard layout step. [Bug 324211] Re: AMD X2 CPU stuck at 1Ghz lowest speed
Me, too, on a Latitude D620 with Duo 2 CPU (2GHz), running 9.10 Karmic (2.6.31-17-generic). But with a twist. After booting, cpufreq-info shows that all is well: the ondemand governor is managing steps between 1GHz and 2GHz, the machine is humming along, moving to higher or lower steps as needed. But after a certain amount of time, something (acpi-cpufreq?) automatically changes those settings and I am stuck on the lowest setting on both CPU 0 and CPU 1: política atual: a frequência deveria estar entre 1000 MHz e 1000 MHz. O governor userspace deve decidir qual velocidade usar dentro desse limite. (My machine speaks Portuguese, but you can see that the interval is between 1GHz and 1GHz. I changed the governor to userspace in a bid to manually set freq to 2GHz with echo 200 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq or cpufreq-selector -f 200) I have seen many similar complaints in the forums. BIOS has no settings like the ones mentioned by everflux (note #23). I have uninstalled all cpufreq demons (kpowersave, cpudyn, cpufreqd, powernowd). [Bug 448095] Re: resolvconf starts after ifupdown, does not pick the dns-nameserver and dns-search lines up from /etc/network/interfaces
ok, time for a full checklist :) - update /sbin/resolvconf from bug attachment - update /etc/resolvconf/update.d/libc from bug attachment - install /etc/init/resolvconf.conf from bug attachment - remove /etc/rcS.d/S07resolvconf - make sure /etc/resolv.conf symlinks to /lib/init/rw/resolvconf/resolv.conf vpn or tunnelling should work as good as before. Nothing has changed for 'late' connections. debugging is a bit hard, but you can see the non-zero exit code if you boot in rescue mode. -- resolvconf starts after ifupdown, does not pick the dns-nameserver and dns-search lines up from /etc/network/interfaces https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/448095 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
