Hello Luke. Thanks you your letter Well, this bug is very interesting, because not have a constant time for speech loss. I installed few hours ago the Jaunty Alpha-6 32 bit release with my Toshiba notebook, all updates are installed. The system/shutdown or logout dialogs is full accessible with Orca. But the 64 bit release my desktop machine (all updates are installed) the shutdown/logout dialogs are inaccessible. I using my desktop machine with Ubuntu Jaunty Alpha-6, 64 bit release. Interesting, but all alpha-6 Live cd's this dialogs correct speak with Orca screen reader. My friend using the 64 bit release he's Lenovo notebook. I looked my desktop machine this problem. Unfortunately, the problem is present, so this is not Toshiba specific problem. I have got an Asus MPV-Mx motherboard, and Nvidia Geforce 6100 chipset. Re: [Bug 208189] Re: Orca lose speech with hardyheron beta release
I will be testing Jaunty dayly release. The yesterday dayly live cd I seeing if the accessibility mode is selected, the pulseaudio service is disabled when I logged in the gnome session. pgrep pulseaudio does'nt produce a number, so I think pulseaudio is not run. This is right? I use Jaunty since Alpha3, so, Jaunty better and better the development period, and if I disabled pulseaudio with oldest Jaunty Alpha releases, this speech lost problem not produced Orca my free machines (my Desktop computer, my Toshiba Satelite L300 notebook and my Asus Eeepc701 netbook). Re: [Bug 328473] Re: [Jaunty] System/shutdown dialog are inaccessible with Orca screen reader.
Luke, I think this problem present only if I using the oldest sudoers file (your Hardy suggestion)? Now I see the live cd the second default row is changed by following line: Defaultsenv_keep = ORBIT_SOCKETDIR XDG_SESSION_COOKIE GTK_MODULES I replace the /etc/sudoers file second default line with this line and deleted the /root/.orbitrc file, and the shutdown dialog are works perfect with 64 bit release. I think this is the problem because not confirming another user with accessibility list this problem with Jaunty. Can you confirm that the schema is installed by doing: gconftool-2 --get-schema-name /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/gtk-modules/gail:atk-bridge If it's not installed it will yell. Could be there's a bug in GConf like Jens mentions as a possibility, too, though. Not sure. Comment #31 from Ray Strode (developer, points: 16 ) 2008-09-29 15:52 UTC [reply ] I'm guessing this is a packaging bug, because when I'm on a rawhide machine and I do: gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/gnome_settings_daemono/gtk-modules (to undo the gconftool call from my test above) and then do gconftool-2 -R /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/gtk-modules (which presumably does something similar to the g-s-d code) then I get: gnomebreakpad = true gail:atk-bridge = /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility which comes from the schemas and seems right. [Bug 362750] [NEW] [Jaunty] Impossible choosing automatic login radiobutton item with keyboard
Public bug reported: I see a little bug with Ubiquity installer. When I going step 5 dialog (what's your name, what username would like to use etc), impossible choose the automatic login radiobutton item with keyboard (2009. 04. 14 daily live cd). When I try press one down arrow with the radiobutton group, Orca screenreader talking correct the second option. After this when I press one down arrow, the cursor jumping the computer name edit box. Only the Orca flatreview function help this situation, but if I try clicking the automatic login radiobutton, this item was not checked. When I press one up arrow key when the first default item is selected, the cursor jumps the computer name editbox. Possible solving this problem with final release? [Bug 362758] [NEW] [Jaunty] pulseaudio problem when I using accessible installer
Public bug reported: I see an interesting problem with 9.04 beta (2009-04-14 daily live cd) with pulseaudio. I choosing screenreader option with accessibility (f5 key and 3 down arrow key). I choosed require a password and encript your home folder option with the installation (I think this is the correct english description this option, step 5 part of installer). After the installation is finished and try logining my normal account, the pulseaudio service is started and Orca cuts of the spokened text. My home directory correct have the .pulse_a11y_nostart file. I tryed interesting test: enabled root login with gdm and add a pasword with root account. copyed the .pulse_a11y_nostart file with /root directory. When I tryed login with root account, all works fine, pulseaudio not started and Orca talking fine. Next day, I reinstalled my system with default settings (not used encription home feature in step 5 dialog, used with Require a password to login option). Good news, Orca talking correct with my normal account, pulseaudio service not started when I login. I confirm this problem with clean Installed Jaunty Beta (vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic kernel). I have got a similar Toshiba Satellite L300 notebook. See my bugreport with https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349641, but I think my bugreport is a duplicated report.
