[Bug 69763] VESA driver does not work on MacBook Pro: image distorted, slanted

2006-11-01 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
Public bug reported:

The image is distorted (picture attached) and is unusable. I have an
Apple MacBook Pro 17 with a ATI X1600 card.

The problem is new with X.org 7.1 and was not present with 7.0.

The problem is not related to my software configuration. I used the
Ubuntu 6.10 install CD (it uses X.org 7.1) and the problem is also
present.

I also have a similar problem with the fbdev driver so the problem may
not be in the VESA driver but in the common X.org code.

I do not have this problem with the proprietary ATI fglrx driver, but I
have some other problems. So maybe the bug is in the VESA and FBDEV
drivers and not in the common X.org code.

I do not have the problem with all the resolutions.
1024x768: no problem
1280x1024: no problem
1400x1050: problem I described

The problem is really annoying since the install CD of Edgy uses this
driver in 1400x1050. So the install CD can't be used.

I also reported this bug as #395919 in Debian

2007-05-01 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
I also had a similar problem. I think the solution is given in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2513954

Go to terminal and open the xorg.conf file:

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and add this line to the Section Device or the Section Screen:

Option AddARGBGLXVisualstrue

and save the file.
This will solve your problem. Restart the X server with ALT+CTRL+BACKSPACE and
you will be OK.

Additionally, you can add these two lines, they will improve the
perfomance of your desktop:

Option DisableGLXRootClipping true
Option DamageEvents true

Also, you can add this line, but it is somewhat experimental and maybe you'll
experience lockups:

Option RenderAccel true

2009-03-02 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
pcscd is not a driver but a middleware. You should report the bug to the
Aladdin etoken pro driver for pcscd.

Your device looks like to be support by the libccid driver. You should
follow http://pcsclite.alioth.debian.org/ccid.html#support

[Bug 44194] Re: wpasupplicant doesn't start when the network start

2009-03-26 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
Regarding the patch for pcsc-lite (moving libpcsclite.so.1 from /usr/lib
to /usr) it is only a half fix. The smart card support will not be
available since the daemon is still in /usr/sbin/pcscd and will only be
started later (when /usr is available)

You should also:
- move pcscd in /sbin
- move all the smart card reader drivers from/usr/lib/pcsc/drivers to
/lib/pcsc/drivers
- start /etc/init.d/pcsclite before wpa_supplicant.

Another solution is to NOT link wpa_suplicant with libpcsclite.so and do a
dynamic loading of libpcsclite.so using dlopen(3) only when needed.
It may be impossible to use wpa_supplicant to mount /usr from a network server
_and_ use the smart card for authentication in wpa_supplicant.

Colin: I agree. A smart card is generally used to identify a user. So it

[Bug 498027] Re: USB bug prevents Jpilot from syncing (may be kernel bug?)

2009-12-17 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
Maybe a kernel bug. Or maybe a hardware/software problem in your PDA device.
Jpilot has nothing to do with kernel errors. This bug should be reassigned to
the kernel.

You should try to reinstall Hardy Heron 8.04 on x86 32 bit on another
computer using the original CD (so with the original kernel) and see if you
also have the pronblem.
Maybe you can just reinstall the original 8.04 kernel.

Another option is to upgrade to a more recent Ubuntu version and a newer
kernel.

[Bug 30735] Re: colormake should replace default make

2009-11-08 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
The goal of colormake is to add side effects to the make command (add colors to
the output).
Some scripts use make and may be very broken if the output of make contains
colors added to the normal output.

Replacing make by colormake will have desastrous (and hard to debug)
side effects.

If you want you can just configure your bash to use colormake by default:
$ alias make=colormake

I (Debian maintainer of colormake) propose to close/reject this bug.

2009-11-08 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
This bug should be fixed in Debian package version 0.2-6 (not yet in Ubuntu).
Please check and report if the bugs is fixed for you.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: colormake

Using colormake to build autotools-enabled project which uses libtool,
it's not uncommon that GCC lines look like this:

  /bin/bash ../libtool --tag=CXX   --mode=compile g++ ...

Colormake does not recognize such lines because it expects only white
spaces in front of GCC commands like gcc, g++, etc. The following tiny
patch fixes this issue by relaxing regular expression a little
  (colormake.pl.orig - original version of colormake.pl):

  mlos...@dog:/usr/share/colormake$ diff colormake.pl.orig colormake.pl

I used the Feisy install live CD and my screen is now working.

The resolution is 1400x1050 instead of 1680x1050 for my MacBook pro 17.

You can close the bug.

[Bug 921671] Re: SunPCSC Provider misses /usr/lib/libpcsclite.so

2012-01-25 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
It is a bug in Java package, not in pcsc-lite.

- java should use libpcsclite.so.1 instead of libpcsclite.so
- on Ubuntu only, java should search the lib in /lib instead of /usr/lib. See

The card auto power off is not the problem.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcsc-lite/+bug/787451

Short answer: kill pcscd on Linux if you want to use the reader inside
virtualbox.
vmware has a faked reader so may use the Linux pcscd.

[Bug 868600] Re: /etc/libccid_Info.plist issues

2011-10-06 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
I have the file on my x32 but not on the other two. Why?

Because the package libccid was not installed? I guess the pcscd package
was not installed either.

package libpcsclite1 suggests pcscd. So it is a good idea to install pcscd if
you want to use a smart card reader.

[Bug 376521] Re: /dev/pilot link is not always created correctly

2009-05-17 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
The file /lib/udev/rules.d/40-pilot-links.rules comes from the udev
package. So it is a udev bug if the symlink is not correct.

Two remarks:
- you should/shall use usb: instead of /dev/pilot for USB Palm devices
- the Debian udev package do not provide the
/lib/udev/rules.d/40-pilot-links.rules file. It looks like the udev package is
not shared between Ubuntu and Debian :-(.

This bug should be reassigned to the udev package.
