[Bug 131422] Re: ForceFeedback test utils missing
The sources in Debian should build on Ubuntu; try dget http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/j/joystick/joystick_20051019-9.dsc and then build the package using dpkg-buildpackage dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc This will tell you which packages you need to install in order to build the package (as mentioned above, you'll need libsdl1.2-dev). The Debian version includes manpages for the force-feedback utilities. [Bug 448446] Re: recognizes the joystick, but not the correct model. not working
Hi, Could you show the output of the lsusb command? It's quite likely that your joystick, sold under one brand, actually identifies itself as something else; that shouldn't prevent it from working. Does the joystick work? That is, have you tried it in a game or some other joystick-using software? [Bug 448446] Re: recognizes the joystick, but not the correct model. not working
If I understand correctly, if you simply connect your joystick, it doesn't work in games etc.? But if you connect your joystick, run jstest --normal /dev/input/js0 it starts working in other applications? Do the other applications work *while* you're running jstest, or do you quit jstest completely before running them? I'd like to make absolutely sure because jstest doesn't set the joystick up at all, it simply reports the values given by the joystick, so if running it is somehow causing your joystick to work where it didn't before then something else is going on. Could you provide the output of sudo lsinput (in the input-utils package) and ls /dev/input/? [Bug 448446] Re: recognizes the joystick, but not the correct model. not working
Joaquín, Would it be possible for you to run a little test for me? I would like to know if the following steps still allow your gamepad to work: 1. Disconnect the gamepad 2. Disable the udev rule shipped in the joystick package (add a # at the start of the last line in /lib/udev/rules.d/60-joystick.rules) 3. Add the following rule to your /etc/udev/rules.d/010_local.rules file: KERNEL==js*, ATTRS{name}==ACRUX USB GAMEPAD 8116, RUN+=/bin/sh -c 'test -e /sys/$env{DEVPATH}/power/level echo on /sys/$env{DEVPATH}/power/level' 4. Reconnect your gamepad This would allow the jskeepalive hack to be dropped. To restore the previous behaviour, simply remove the # you added in step 2 and remove the line you added in step 3. Thanks for the feedback, I'll upload a fixed version to Debian one of these days, and it will make its way to Ubuntu on its own (I'd like to address #497835 as well). I had a look at some photos of your keyboard, and it is indeed hard to figure out how it would support 37 axes! If you want to disable the joystick support to avoid problems in games, assuming you don't actually have another joystick or gamepad, you can add a file to /etc/modprobe.d to blacklist the joydev driver, named for example blacklist-joydev.conf and simply containing blacklist joydev This will stop /dev/input/js0 from being created. [Bug 448446] Re: recognizes the joystick, but not the correct model. not working
Hi, Sorry for the delay. I hadn't forgotten your problem though; it occurred to me that it may be related to USB auto-suspend. Could you try the following? Connect your joystick, but don't run jstest or anything else. Type lsusb and determine the bus and device number for your joystick (drop the zeroes, so for instance Bus 001 Device 003 is bus 1 device 3). Next type cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/{bus}-{device}/power/autosuspend and cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/{bus}-{device}/power/level replacing {bus} and {device} as appropriate (so with bus 1 device 3 as above it becomes .../usb/devices/1-3/power/...). OK, it should be possible to override the protection (the gamepad claims to require 350mA, which your USB port should be able to supply unless you're using an unpowered hub). When you connect your gamepad, after a couple of seconds run dmesg | tail -n 25 This should show a message such as usb 2-5: rejected 1 configuration due to insufficient available bus power Take the last such message and run echo -n 1 | tee /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-5/bConfigurationValue to force the device to be configured anyway... [Bug 448446] Re: recognizes the joystick, but not the correct model. not working
Regarding comment #19, that was exactly the idea. To fully fix the problem, we need a way to start the program as soon as the joystick is plugged in; the following line, added to your /etc/udev/rules.d/010_local.rules files (if you don't have such a file, simply create it), should start the daemon as soon as the joystick is detected: KERNEL==js*, ATTR{name}==ACRUX USB GAMEPAD 8116, RUN+=/usr/local/sbin/jskeepalive /dev/input/%b When the joystick is disconnected the program will terminate. Regarding the vibrator, I imagine you'll need to find a game which uses force-feedback, or use one of the force-feedback programs available in the source for the joystick package (or in the Debian package). Public bug reported: Please sync gcc-mingw-w64 6 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped: * Sync on Debian (FFe: LP: #986772) * Change Breaks/Replaces version to 4.6.3-1ubuntu5+5 since gcc is frozen for the moment, this change can be dropped after 12.04 - update debian/control* The Debian package uses the correct Breaks version depending on its build environment (Debian or Ubuntu). On Ubuntu the Breaks/Replaces version ends up being 4.6.3-1ubuntu5+5ubuntu1 as released in 12.04 and present in quantal. Changelog entries since current quantal version 5ubuntu1: gcc-mingw-w64 (6) unstable; urgency=low * Handle the different split-package versions in Ubuntu and Debian. * Add transitional Recommends so that gcc-mingw-w64 pulls in the compilers it used to provide (LP: #992217). * Make gcc-mingw32 install compatibility symlinks for binaries and manpages formerly provided by mingw32-binutils (LP: #992161). * Enable Ada support on armhf and hurd-i386 now that gnat-4.6 is available there. -- Stephen Kitt st...@sk2.org Sat, 05 May 2012 12:33:32 +0200 ** Affects: gcc-mingw-w64 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995660 Title: Sync gcc-mingw-w64 6 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-mingw-w64/+bug/995660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is fixed in version 6, for which I filed a sync request against quantal (#995660). I'm not sure whether this can be applied to 12.04 too... They're not provided in the upstream packages but I can certainly add them (along with appropriate pkg-config links). Yes, that was what I was referring to. They are incredibly useful. Is there any way we could get them into the upstream packages? I've had a good look at the Fedora scripts, and they are rather specific to Fedora's layout for the MinGW-w64 packages; in fact they seem to be intended first of all as packaging helpers to build other MinGW-w64-based packages in Fedora. I can provide similar scripts for Debian (and Ubuntu), but I don't think it would make much sense to try to get such scripts into the upstream packages given that they would always end up being distribution-specific... [Bug 935096] Re: Please remove gcc-mingw32 source and binaries (save gcc-mingw32) from precise
Note that in Debian, the gcc-mingw32 source package was removed because version 5 of the gcc-mingw-w64 source package provides a gcc-mingw32 transitional binary package. To have the same kind of transition in Precise would require syncing gcc-mingw-w64 from Debian unstable... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/935096 Title: Please remove gcc-mingw32 source and binaries (save gcc-mingw32) from precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-mingw32/+bug/935096/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Mingw-w64] [Bug 1022397] [NEW] mingw32 and mingw-w64 need zlib-dev and pthreads libraries
Hi Simson, On Sun, 08 Jul 2012 23:16:12 -, Simson Garfinkel 1022...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote: I maintain open source software that cross-compiles for Windows using mingw. We would like our users to be able to compile on Ubuntu. Currently they cannot because there is not zlib-dev and there is no pthreads in the Ubuntu mingw-w64 build system. Are there any plans to add these? It is actually quite difficult to build them from sources on mingw, as it requires editing the distribution files. They should be included as part of the base system. The Ubuntu MinGW-w64 packages come from Debian, and I'll probably wait until Debian wheezy is released (and the distribution unfrozen) before updating the packages. Nevertheless pthreads support is in the works, and should arrive soon after wheezy's release. zlib-dev will take a bit longer, the approach we're taking is to add a new partial architecture (so we'll need support in the infrastructure tools). [Bug 659024] Re: fatal errors installing oss-compat, snd_pcm_oss module not found
This bug is about errors preventing the installation of oss-compat, and is fixed. If you're unhappy about the audio functionality available in Ubuntu, please file bugs against the relevant packages (the kernel if you really want to be able to use aumix with /dev/mixer, osspd if you'd like it to support /dev/mixer). If you're using pulseaudio I'm not sure aumix is particularly useful anyway... The whole point of osspd providing oss-compat is so that it can be used as an alternative; packages requiring the OSS devices are supposed to simply depend on oss-compat, not osspd. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659024 Title: fatal errors installing oss-compat, snd_pcm_oss module not found To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oss-compat/+bug/659024/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
