[Bug 221528] Re: hdc: drive not ready for command

2008-08-17 Thread asiweb

I created a script that solves the problem temporarily until they solve the bug
in the kernel (libATA)

First create a file IDE_DMA.sh and add to the file
---
#!/bin/bash

 a=`ls -l /dev/ | grep cdrom  |cut -d  -f23|sort|uniq`

for i in $a
do

 hdparm -w /dev/$i
 hdparm -d 1 /dev/$i

done

keep the permit execution

copy IDE_DMA.sh to / etc / init.d /

then run sudo update-rc.d IDE_DMA.sh defaults

[Bug 1045291] [NEW] problem with iommu

2012-09-03 Thread asiweb
Public bug reported:

I have problems with random crashes when I shut down and reboot the
system. When I run in terminal dmesg | grep IOMMU muycaracteristico
returns an error of:

Aperture too small (32 MB)
No AGP bridge found
Your BIOS does not leave a aperture memory hole
Please enable the IOMMU option in the BIOS setup
This costs you 64 MB of RAM
Mapping aperture over 65536 KB of RAM @ c00

the fact is that in my bios I have no option to opt iommu
apparently has to be supported by the chipset
I have a 4G memory and the processor is an AMD Athlon64 x2
and motherboard chipset 785g asrocka785gmh
I use ubuntu 64 bit version with kernel 3.2.29 but I have noticed that with the
3.5.13 kernel also produces the same error

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1045291] Re: problem with iommu

2012-09-03 Thread asiweb
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise running-unity

** Description changed:

I use ubuntu 64 bit version with kernel 3.2.29 but I have noticed that with
the 3.5.13 kernel also produces the same error

[Bug 1045291] Re: problem with iommu

2012-09-06 Thread asiweb
I do not update/upgrade ubuntu and I used kernel by default in Ubuntu
12.04 I've seen is that when I install the proprietary driver from AMD
(fglrx) is when I have problems when I shut down and restart at random
the problem is reproduced in Release 12.4 or 12.6 legacy but very
often.if I use the radeon driver I have no problems but then manages not
powerplay and performance is not very good

2019-09-29 Thread asiweb
I have deactivated the OIMMU in bios and if I try to start I get a list of
errors
usb usb 3-1 port1: unable to enumerate usb .
usb 4-5 device description read / 64, error .

boot does not continue

only when I have activated the IOMMU let me continue with the boot

in earlier versions of the kernel if it booted without the IOMMU enabled
but the USB 3.0 port does not work
