[Bug 741589] [NEW] tomcat cron deletes app log files after 14 days

2011-03-24 Thread ahmedre
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat6

/etc/cron.daily/tomcat6 comes with the tomcat package and deletes all
war files' log files after 14 days. i would argue that nothing should
be deleted without explicit permission of the user - this is especially
since there is nothing in logrotate for tomcat and yet there's a lone
script in cron.daily that deletes logs. lost some valuable data because
of this :(

I suspect what's going on here is that when
krb5_get_init_creds_set_out_ccache was added
the error reporting was bad.

I will attempt to look at this if no one gets there sooner.
take a look at the handling of out_ccahe in

[Bug 741661] [NEW] Web UI does not work from default install (2.1.0~bzr-2009-0ubuntu1)l

2011-03-24 Thread Jamie Mack
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cobbler

On a fresh installation of Natty Alpha 3 then running apt-get install
cobbler there are several issues with the default install - the web UI
will not work.

There are several broken symlinks and Apache modules which do not get
enabled by the default install.

The following steps must be taken in order to obtain a functional web UI
at http://myhost/cobbler_web

##
Cobbler inital config on natty-alpha3
##

apt-get install cobbler
a2enmod proxy_http
cd /etc/apache2/conf.d
ln -s /etc/cobbler/cobbler_web.conf cobbler_web.conf

Edit cobbler_web.conf and comment out line 9 so it reads
-
#CustomLog logs/access_log combined env=!dontlog
-

cd /var/www
rm cobbler_webui_content
ln -s /usr/share/cobbler/webroot/cobbler_webui_content/ cobbler_webui_content

##
Configure cobbler to allow logins
##
Edit /etc/cobbler/modules.conf

Change the line which reads
-
[authentication]
module = authn_denyall
-

So that it actually says

-
[authentication]
module = authn_configfile
-

###
Now add a user
###
htdigest /etc/cobbler/users.digest Cobbler myusername

#
Restart all services
#
service apache2 stop
service cobbler stop
service apache2 start
service apache2 start

If someone can ammend the default package then I'm happy to re-test

2011-03-24 Thread Martin Pitt
Matthias,

unfortunately this doesn't work:

dh_install --list-missing
cp: Aufruf von stat für
„debian/tmp/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/packagekit-plugin.so“ nicht möglich: Datei
oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
dh_install: cp -a debian/tmp/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/packagekit-plugin.so
debian/browser-plugin-packagekit//usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ returned exit code 1

configure is looking for mozilla-plugin.pc, but firefox-dev ships
firefox-plugin.pc, so it would need to be patched for this.

[Bug 741754] Re: multipath load not balancing across two iscsi connections

2011-03-24 Thread Mark Russell
Output of `multipath -ll -v4` when not in balance and balanced.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: multipath-tools

- placeholder
+ Details:
+
+ Customer is running Ubuntu Server 10.04 amd64 on ESX.
+ Connecting via open-iscsi to a Dell EqualLogic SAN. Using two paths for each
LUN.
+
+ On startup, customer reports that the load is only going over one NIC.
+ It's appears random whether it's eth1 or eth2, but the load is never
+ distributed across both.
+
+ After the system is up multipath will (seeminly randomly) report one of the
following:
+ - 0 devices and paths
+ - some number of devices and paths
+ - all devices and paths
+
+ However: multipath is not working. Although it shows all paths after
+ they issue a `multipath -v2` they aren't all in use. In order to make
+ them ACTIVE they need to unmount the filesystem, deactive the volume
+ group, reactivate, remount and then it works.

[Bug 740815] Re: [FFe] Updates to enable us to drop xulrunner from main

2011-03-24 Thread Chris Coulson
I've just pushed
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mozillateam/firefox/firefox-4.0.head/revision/822
, which means that firefox-dev will provide a mozilla-plugin pkgconfig
file now (but I'm not sure I should upload this until after beta now).

In any case, the only open items are browser plugins, which is a pretty
good situation to be in. We could easily clear those remaining ones the
day after beta release (and with the firefox change, it should just mean
adding firefox-dev to the build-deps)

[Bug 738209] Re: autofs appears to be started before it is truly functional

2011-03-24 Thread Clint Byrum
There are two issues here. One is that the package appears to fork
before it is actually ready for things to automount. Because of that, we
don't have a clear point which we can emit the started event. So either
a patch should be made to have it fork later (unlikely) or we need a
post-start that looks for evidence that automounting is ready to be used
and blocks started until that condition is true.

[Bug 524447] Re: virsh save is very slow

2011-03-24 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for that info. That is unexpected. Could you send the xml
description of the domain you were snapshotting, as well as the format
of the backing file (i.e. qemu-img info filename.img) and what
filesystem it is stored on (or whether it is LVM)? I'd like to try to
reproduce it.

Since you are seeing this in natty, it seems certain that while your
symptom is the same as that in the original bug report, the cause is
different. So it may be best to open a new bug report to track down the
new issue in natty.

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2011-03-24 Thread cdmiller
I just tried Howard's patch from #73 this morning, using the
libgcrypt11_1.4.4-5ubuntu2_amd64.deb source files to roll a new
libgcrypt11 package. I can now su to root from accounts not in the
local password file database, before I could not. That was on a Lucid
10.04.2 LTS vm. Next week sometime we might be able to test
Apache2/phpsuexec for a larger base of user accounts.

You should be able to work around this issue by installing mysql-server
 before bacula.

[Bug 740815] Re: [FFe] Updates to enable us to drop xulrunner from main

2011-03-24 Thread Matthias Klumpp
@Martin Pitt: Thanks! I could change this dependency upstream... I'll take a
look how this is handled in Iceweasel and Firefox on other distributions and
then maybe change it, if the name is the same everywhere. (But I don't really
think this will be the case...)
I accidentally build PK in my Debian chroot, so I haven't seen the failure
there

Re: [Bug 741706] Re: could not add physical hardware (ethernet card)

2011-03-24 Thread Serge Hallyn
I tried it with 'intel_iommu=on' kernel option but with the same result.
 It does not work.

Drat. Thanks.

Does physical hardware assignment for network cards really work under
 KVM?

I've never had hardware to be able to properly test this. As soon as I
did, I was planning to test using:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SR-IOV#How_To_Test

Can you verify that your NIC is in fact supported, and that you followed
the steps there (in particular using 'max_vfs=7' when loading the igb
module)?

[Bug 740815] Re: [FFe] Updates to enable us to drop xulrunner from main

2011-03-24 Thread Martin Pitt
As we can't really do something about gluezilla itself, I add a mono
task. There is reportedly some work going on to implement the WebBrowser
widget with webkit-sharp, but it's not ready yet.

If we would disable xulrunner in mono, we would not have any regression
in the Ubuntu archive (as libmono-webbrowser0.5-cil does not have any
real reverse dependencies), but this would break running window CIL
applications which use the web browser widget.

[Bug 739977] Re: PHP5 FTBFS in Natty

2011-03-24 Thread Steve Langasek
It would be best here to mirror the behavior of the compiler, and list
the multiarch-qualified directory /before/ the unqualified directory.

(It's unfortunate that we don't have time to convert the entire system
in one cycle; if all of PHP5's build-deps were transitioned to
multiarch, we could just pass --with-libdir=lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH).

[Bug 739977] Re: PHP5 FTBFS in Natty

2011-03-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Ahem... spoke too soon. The configure script now runs to completion
but the link step fails.

I believe that's because libgd2 needs updated to clean out its .la file.
I've fixed libgd2 now and am doing a test build with your patches to see
if it finishes.

[Bug 739977] Re: PHP5 FTBFS in Natty

2011-03-24 Thread Jonathan Marsden
Ah, that would be nice --- I thought I'd missed something; if you are
correct I can claim my patches are fine and libgd2 was the culprint :)

Regarding your earlier comment:

(It's unfortunate that we don't have time to convert the entire system in one
 cycle;
if all of PHP5's build-deps were transitioned to multiarch, we could just
 pass
 --with-libdir=lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH).

I tried that early on. I don't think this is approach workable even in
a perfect one cycle conversion world, because the --with-libdir option
changes where .h files are looked for, as well as whe .a and .so files
are looked for. Multiarch moves .a and.so files around, but (from what
I have seen) leaves .h files where they were, since they do not
(generally) change with CPU architechure.

--with-libdir is actually documented to do exactly what we want. It appears
to be how /usr/lib64 handling is done for RH / SuSE, and it should work as
well for multiarch.

I only ran into problems when trying --with-libdir when I got to openssl
detection, since openssl has not yet been multiarched.

[Bug 739977] Re: PHP5 FTBFS in Natty

2011-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package php5 - 5.3.5-1ubuntu5

---
php5 (5.3.5-1ubuntu5) natty; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/temporary-path-fixes-for-multiarch.patch: as a stopgap
for natty, patch the various config.m4 files for modules whose
libraries have moved to the multiarch dir; we can't use --with-libdir
yet because that requires all the build-deps to have moved. Thanks to
Jonathan Marsden for preparing this patch. LP: #739977.
  * debian/patches/ubuntu/ubuntu-php-version.patch: drop. This is an
autogenerated file.

[Bug 738968] Re: Can't See Parts of DFS CIFS Share

2011-03-24 Thread Larry Reid
Is it a regression ?
Did this use to work properly with a previous release ?

Not as far as I know.

What version of samba packages are used ?
Please give the output of:

dpkg-query -W -f='${Package} ${Version} ${Source} ${Status}\n' | grep
samba

libsmbclient 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed
libwbclient0 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed
samba-common 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed
samba-common-bin 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed
smbclient 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed
smbfs 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed
winbind 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 samba install ok installed

How is the remote share accessed from the Ubuntu system?
nautilus (or other GUI client) YES
smbclient (from the command line) YES
cifs filesystem mount (from /etc/fstab or a mount command) YES
If nautilus (or another GUI client) is used to access the remote share, can the
share be accessed with the smbclient command line utility ? NO

To test:

install the samba-client package
try to connect to the remote system from the command line:

smbclient //remote_system/share_name

Connection works, but crossing to another server through DFS doesn't

If the share requires a specific username/password, try using the -U
parameter (for example, use -U ntdomain\\user).

smbclient doesn't work either. I have tried all combinations of ways to
authenticate. With -d 10 I'm seeing messages that make me reasonably
confident it's not an authentication problem (but it could be, I
suppose).

If a cifs mount is used
In that case please also provide:

the content of the file /etc/fstab, or the command line used to mount
the remote share if the share is manually mounted.

sudo mount -t cifs --verbose -o user=my-domain/my-username //my-
server/my-share /mnt

mount works. Nautilus, gvfs-mount and smbclient don't.

the content of the file /proc/fs/cifs/DebugData

What is the remote server ?
In all cases, please include the output of the following smbclient command:

smbclient -L //remote_system
This should give us the remote server version. Also include on what kind of
machine the share is located (Windows 2003 Server, Ubuntu 8.04, NAS box
model...)

It's an EMC Celerra NAS NSG-8 with NAS version 5.6.50

I can't get the command output right now because the VPN is down.
(Problem occurs with or without VPN.)
