I just imported the strings one by one, but I'm still interested if anyone has an explanation. /Mads Lundby 2009/10/12 Mads Bille Lundby lundbym...@gmail.com: I have a problem importing the Danish translation of the module software-center. gdm: gdmsetup strings are ubuntu specific
Hi, That's just a note for team which consider gdm as something to be translated by GNOME and would overlook those strings. The configuration tool gdmsetup in karmic is ubuntu specific and the string should be translated in rosetta too, the strings are in the gdm template. Where is string Filesystem after mounting disk
Hello! I found that after mounting disk the string Filesystem DISK_LABEL in Nautilus is untranslated in Russian. Do you know in which package this string is? Please let any concerns about the new stuff be known :) The icalshare link jumps out at me on the evolution page. None of the other pages have links other than to Ubuntu hosted sites. Why are we choosing to link to that specific non-ubuntu site? I don't like the idea of the installer linking directly to externally hosted sites out of our control. If it was linked to an ubuntu hosted site which jumped off to a 3rd party site, fine, we can control that, but once the CD is burned it's kinda set in stone until the next burn. Cheers! -- Adi Roiban Eek! I just pushed it to trunk yesterday, so the new pot files are in Rosetta. It can still be reverted, but let's see if we can handle it. The new strings, as far as locales are concerned, are more suggestions than anything else. In that respect, there is very little delta between them and the current strings that _needs_ to be acted upon in locales. We could stick with the current translations and be happy. From the outside, it will look like nothing has changed. Of course, that isn't always so easy since we have to match up the translations to the new source strings. Don't worry, it's absolutely my fault, so I'll see about doing this myself in the next day :) Thanks, Dylan -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators
Re: Freeze exception request for ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu - Need feedback
1) The ubuntu one template in trunk translations is named ubuntuone.html 2) I started translating the source package, then discovered that there is a trunk version as well (why is that, the slideshow is ubuntu specific, ). Then strings kept changing for the last few days. I total, I've had it with trying to keep this package translated :( -- Θάνος Λευτέρης http://thanos.lefteris.info -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

Then strings kept changing for the last few days. I total, I've had it with trying to keep this package translated :( I'm sorry about how translations have worked for this package. When it branches for Lucid, I intend to rewire the current approach by making the base strings very simple and, therefore, static! (Perhaps as simple as evolution-introduction, for example). Then, the effort of coming up with what to say lands in the translator's court (where the en strings are recommended as a source, but not forced). It could play out fairly well. Less destructively, at least. For now, I acted on what I said I would do. I couldn't find a way to do it automatically, so I armed myself with the useful rpl command and manually converted all instances of the old msgid strings to the new ones![1] As a result, all the old strings are back in. It could do with a double check to see what really needs to be translated again. (I only speak English and a bit of French, so I can't do that myself). The Empathy slide was an exception, because I feel that one has changed for good reason. (Before, it was simply the Pidgin slide with less content). Staring at a solution to this with the impending doom of final freeze[2] :) Thanks, Dylan McCall [1] I was also very grateful to have sloppy focus on my window manager. See the difference: https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu and https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/ . I think this is mainly because the source one has been in the templates priority wiki page : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/TemplatesPriority . So if the trunk version is the one to be used, maybe we should call translators to do the trunk as well? Or if the slideshow is not part of the first freeze, maybe they should wait till there is a new source package to translate? Oh, I wish I had known about that one. I'm going to ask Evan about the Ubuntu One slide he had filed an exception request for, but that's pretty compelling reason to hold back any further pushes to main except to update the pos. After all, changing the msgids won't produce anything positive in this case... If it's as close as it appears, I'll just put my pesky strings in Rosetta.
