Well, the translations are there in focal. $ echo $(LANGUAGE=oc gettext -d dpkg '(Reading database ... ') (Lectura de la basa de donadas... Apparently there is some bug in update-manager, so the messages are shown untranslated in the Details view. Considering that it works as expected in both hirsute and impish, maybe it's something we can live with. At least there seems not to be a general Launchpad bug with translations not being 'transferred' between the releases. -- Cheers, Gunnar Hjalmarsson https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

Hello Gunnar, here is a picture with Focal: https://wtf.roflcopter.fr/pics/2fcYiiXe/ZdXvmOxy.png and here with Ubuntu Daily: https://wtf.roflcopter.fr/pics/evgSF8eQ/e2PTcS0T.png On Focal there is "Reading database" and "X files and directories currently installed" (I think I remember it was 2 strings) and "Preparing to unpack" whereas Hirsute and the upcoming release have it in Occitan. Hello, just a quick question to be sure to understand. I made lots of translations about dpkg and apt before the release of Hirsute. Now with it, the texts on screen when updating or installing are mostly translated. The same with Ubuntu Daily. But with Focal .3-proposed these texts are still in English. I would have thought that the translation would be shared between version. It's not the case with earlier releases like a "point release"? Re: Call for testing: langpack updates for 20.04.3
Hi Gunnar, thanks for the info. I've tested the proposed German translations for 20.04.3 LTS. Everything in the DE language packs looks fine so far. Regards, Dennis Am 05.08.21 um 23:32 schrieb Gunnar Hjalmarsson: Hello translators! I'm here again with a plea to help with testing new language packs. Updated language packs are available in focal-proposed as version 1:20.04+20210802. They will be moved to focal-updates on 2021-08-12 for all languages except those languages where we identify issues with the proposed language packs. As a prevention measure you can help out by installing the language packs for your language from focal-proposed and report here any issues you see which might be related to the updated translations. Then the language-packs for that language won't be moved to focal-updates until the issues have been considered and/or resolved. The names of the language packs which have been copied to focal-proposed are: language-pack-XX language-pack-XX-base language-pack-gnome-XX language-pack-gnome-XX-base where 'XX' is the language code. The purpose of a manual test is to make sure that the system keeps working normally and that there are no noticeable translation errors which stand out. So basically: log in into an Ubuntu desktop session and make sure that the core features behave as expected. Example check points: * Open the Activities overview, enter some search terms(for example home, netw, update). * Check the menu on the top right of the screen. * Start the file browser (Files>Home Folder). Check your home folder location, the menu items and the side bar. * Start Update Manager: check out it runs and has sensible UI. If you find issues, please report them here by 2021-08-11. -- Dennis Baudys email: thecon...@arcor.de GPG key-ID: E4A9FB08 fingerprint: CB9A 86FF 1C20 0426 3912 0276 3A78 E23F E4A9 FB08 Prüfer im deutschen Ubuntu-Übersetzer-Team launchpad: ~thecondordb -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators
