I am a member of meetup.com and of the Ubuntu meetup group on there. I think it's a fantastic idea as I'm not personally aware of any regularly meeting enthusiast group for Ubuntu in the UK. However it doesn't currently have a group owner and will be deleted in 7 days if nobody claims it. I'd love to but for groups with more than 50 members there is a $14.99+ fee per month to pay and I simply can't afford the extra expense. I would welcome suggestions from anyone as to how this could be made to work without costing me money or would anyone else be willing to step up to the plate? -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

[ubuntu-uk] BBC News and Weather web apps
Hi Does anyone know why the BBC News and Weather web apps, and the Logviewer app, disappeared off my Ubuntu phone when I updated to OTA 12? They are not in the Ubuntu Store either. I have had to make my own BBC News web app. I know there is a BBC scope but I don't find it as easy to use as the web app was. The reason that I ask is that I did an LTS to LTS update (64 bit) last Friday and it stalled for a very long time while installing one of the language packages. I left it alone and it eventually came back to life and completed. The installation part of the upgrade seemed to take much longer than previous upgrades. Since the upgrade the machine has been much slower to shut down, but this is a known bug to do with systemd and networked printers. Just waiting for the fix to work its way through the update system. Re: [ubuntu-uk] Messed up upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04
At the terminal prompt, you could try: sudo dpkg --configure -a which should hopefully kick off the remaining updates. If that completes OK, follow it with sudo apt update sudo apt dist-upgrade and hopefully you'll be in a better state. Cheers, Dan.
