[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 451910] [NEW] Xubuntu Karmic completely freezes on Asus AB600L laptop
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I installed Xubuntu Karmic BETA on the laptop. The installation went perfectly. The system is usable after installation, no problems. I can install new packages and do pretty much everything. Reboot after reboot and it works. BUT if I do a dist-upgrade and reboot the problems begin. BETA works. Updating the system, this is what happens when I reboot: 1) System boots up normally, I get the new XSplash and all (very nice) 2) System is responsive, I can see system notifications about AC power every once in a while 3) IF I move the mouse over some icons, or hover on the menu or open a menu -- I get ~5 seconds to live -- total lockdown Only the mouse pointer still works. But anything other than that does not. I can't even do CTRL + ALT + Fx. The system doesn't simply respond. I did the installation couple of times. I tried to isolate the problem but I couldn't. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 528209] Re: black screen with GL-screensavers after adding packages
Hi, something more about the tag black-screen after the login-screen: the upper things are regarding a completely new installed xubuntu 9.10. Just for testing something different, I have made a second installation with xubuntu 8.04, and upgraded over all version to the current 9.10. With this installation, no black screen apears after the login-screen on my pc - WITH xorg.cfg (since the upper bug report I am booting my system WITHOUT any xorg.cfg to avoid any black screen after login). Therefore I am now adding the two files you asked for, when we were examine the screensaver problem - but this time I am adding the fileversions of a working installation after my upgrade-sessions. Unfortunately that's normal behavior for touchpads that aren't wired via usb or ps2 internally (aka the majority of them that go through the EC). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 188308] Re: colemak is broken
Is this really a bug in xkeyboard-config, the keyboard configuration files? I don't think so. The layout works fine if used as the default and only layout in gnome-keyboard-properties (except for the issue that the key doesn't repeat). The problem occurs if trying to switch between layouts in gnome- keyboard-properties...the caps lock behaviour is not properly set in this situation. I find that if I start off with colemak as the default and switch to a standard layout using the applet then the colemak caps lock behaviour (as backspace) persists. If however I start off with a standard layout and switch to colemak I get the strange bug where the caps lock key is both caps lock and backspace at the same time. Perhaps this is a bug in gnome-keyboard-properties. -- colemak is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
