Bug description:
the issue is that scribus does not use a standard location for
its docs ... typically deb packages ship their docs in
/usr/share/doc/ while scribus ships them in

This is important because the Firefox snap only has permissions to

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 2003239] Re: Sync blender 3.4.1+dfsg-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2023-01-18 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Fair enough. I must admit I'm not familiar with the libtbb-dev changes
and I might be missing something here. :)

I am somewhat confused now though. Looks like requestsync skipped a bullet
point when listing the Ubuntu delta. Looking at
https://patches.ubuntu.com/b/blender/blender_3.3.1+dfsg-1ubuntu3.patch

My interpretation is that the build dependency was switched from
version-less to version2. But then it was later switched back to
version-less (although possibly from a different source package).

So based on the diff in the patch above, the only delta I can see is the
changelog entries and replacing Maintainer in the control file.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1933114] Re: [needs packaging] dvdstyler

2021-06-26 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I took the liberty of adjusting the tags to the official one.

Looking at the publishing history [1] it looks like one of the reasons
why this package was originally removed from Ubuntu was because it used
older libraries. Do you know whether this has been resolved?

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1769977] Re: jackd2 don't install in fresh installation of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

2018-05-10 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I was unable to reproduce this issue on my 18.04 system, jackd2
installed without issues. Since you mention that you had a fresh
install, could you try checking for (and installing) any updates which
may be available. I suspect that the issue might be due to outdated
package lists or a temporarily out-of-sync mirror.

If the issue persists please attach the full error message you get.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Since 18.04 beta 1 and 2, I have been comparing the blender 2.79b

directly from Blender Foundation. If you install Blender from apt-get
first, and then download and extract Blender from Blender Foundation
in any folder, running the software you can go to the "User

  options.

Now, compare the system tab of both. 2/3 of the options are missing in
  the default apt-get (*)ubuntu install.

Many thanks for fixing this !

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1756555] Re: Include openshot.developers stable PPA contents in default Ubuntu repos

2018-03-18 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

Apt is merely installing the available packages, so I've moved this
issue to the openshot package itself. Most packages in Ubuntu are synced
without changes from Debian, so if the package versions are lagging
behind upstream, I would recommend reaching out to the Debian maintainer
to coordinate and work together on new releases. Since the developers
are maintaining a PPA, there should be (hopefully) only minor changes
required to get official packages into the archive.

While investigating, I found that openshot has been removed from Debian
(see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/openshot and especially
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=889742), and therefore
in turn Ubuntu bionic. However, the bug report mentions it has been
replaced by openshot-qt (https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/openshot-qt)
and this seems to come from the same upstream project. (Not familiar
with either package, so feel free to correct me) Openshot-qt will be
available in the upcoming Ubuntu 18.04 with what seems to be a matching
version to the upstream one, 2.4.1-2build2,
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openshot-qt. So it looks like this
might be resolved?

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 754077] Re: Aeolus organ emulator does not work after install

2018-01-07 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I still get a similar error message, see below. Retested on Ubuntu 16.04
and bionic (the error message is taken from the latter)

It should be noted that I'm running stock Ubuntu, not Ubuntu Studio, so
I do wonder whether there are some additional steps to setup jack or
whether that should be done automatically by the package...

Musescore 2.0.3 problem in UM 16.04 LTS

Status in ubuntu-mate:
  Invalid
Status in musescore package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  As per title.

This problem exists irrespective of whether installed from the
software boutique or from a terminal

  First issue:

Musescore locks up on launch when trying to select initial type of
score. It does this the majority of the time. Sometimes it eventually
unlocks and allows one to continue. Sometimes it crashes completely
  and closes

  Second issue:

Assuming one has got past the initial lock up and has got Musescore
fully open, many of the menu items are fantastically tiny such that
they are impossible to visually identify or use.

This seems to be a problem limited to the version that UM 16.04 is
  using:

I have just installed Lubuntu 16.04 in a VM and installed Musescore
from a terminal. It turns out the version it is using is 2.0.2. So,
one iteration below the one used by UM. I can confirm none of these
problems are present in the Lubuntu version of Musescore.

Upgrading fontconfig-config causes fonts to look aliased

Status in msttcorefonts package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 dev and upgrading fontconfig-config to version
  2.12.6-0ubuntu1 changed its dependencies from "fonts-dejavu-core |
  ttf-bitstream-vera | fonts-freefont-ttf | gsfonts-x11, ucf (>= 0.29)"
  to "ucf (>= 0.29), fonts-dejavu-core | ttf-bitstream-vera | fonts-
liberation | fonts-freefont" which caused at default fonts-dejavu-core
  being additionally installed.

My system has also ttf-mscorefonts-installer installed which utilizes
custom rules to emulate the sharp looking fonts behavior Windows
systems had. But installing fonts-dejavu-core alone causes this sharp
look to get aliased again in the most places. A workaround for
fontconfig-config is to install fonts-liberation as it seems to not
  break the sharp look.

I can't tell exactly which of the 3 possible packages is the main cause for
this issue:
  - Is that the installation of fonts-dejavu-core alone breaks the look a bug?
  - Needs ttf-mscorefonts-installer an update to take over priority or such?
  - Or is it possible that fontconfig-config could also technically support
ttf-mscorefonts-installer as additional fonts dependency choice?

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1676092] Re: Can't install audacious in Xenial depends not the right version

2017-03-26 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I don't get an error message like this when attempting to install
audacious on Ubuntu 16.04.

>(is it the same version with a different name? )

It's two different versions. Though from what I can see
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0), is version
"2.24.30-1ubuntu1.16.04.1" so far only available in the -proposed
archive. In other words, it hasn't gone through all the steps to be
pushed out as an official update. Have you installed packages from
-proposed? If that is the case, there might be additional rebuilds of
libraries like gtk2-engines-pixbuf needed before it can be released.
I've taken the liberty of marking gtk2.0 as also affected just in case.

Could you please add the whole error message you got when attempting to
install adacious?

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1581180] Re: Update to Shotwell 0.24.x

2017-03-06 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Debian has packaged 0.25.4+really0.24.5-0.1 (they rolled back from 0.25)
in Sid.

I see that the current version in Ubuntu carries a delta though, so a
newer version will likely need to be merged from Debian
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Merging). (Some of the
changes include Unity support and I don't know if they have made their
way upstream or into Debian)

No problem. :)

This has already been reported as bug 1581180 though, so I'll mark this
as a duplicate and leave a comment there.

>Would it be possible to get rid of the delta (as far as feasible)
between Debian and Ubuntu?

I don't know. The delta looks quite big and seems to contain things like
Unity support. I don't know if this has made its way upstream or to
Debian...

Bug description:
  Hi.

I'm really sorry if I'm making any (social) mistake by using a long
habit of reporting wishlist bugs to ubuntu the way that I do it in
Debian. Feel free to point me the correct direction of doing it the
  ubuntu-way...

That being said, Ubuntu's zesty version of shotwell is considerably
behind the version that is currently in Debian (testing has upstream
version 0.24.5, disguised as 0.25.4+really0.24.5-0.1) while my up-to-
date zesty system has only 0.22.0+git20160108.r1.f2fb1f7-0ubuntu3.

Would it be possible to get rid of the delta (as far as feasible)
  between Debian and Ubuntu?

  Thanks,

  Rogério Brito.

Title:
please update gsfonts to the latest release

Status in gsfonts package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The latest gsfonts now have extended and improved cyrillic and greek
  glyphs:

"URW++ update to base 35 from June 2016.

This extends the Greek and Cyrillic glyphs originally supplied in only three
font families to cover all the relevant fonts in the base 35."

Furthermore the fonts are finally available as opentype and truetype
fonts, making them usable in modern applications (libreoffice stops
supporting type1 fonts beginning with 5.3)

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1659127] Re: csound is in conflict with ITSELF (package in synaptic)

2017-02-01 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I saw the related question
(https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/csound/+question/44)
and also wonder which version you are trying to install. Fwiw, I tried
to install csound on an Ubuntu 16.04 system, but I did not get any error
messages like this.

Could you please run the following command in a terminal (it will automatically
gather debugging information):
 apport-collect 1659127

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Status in csound package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
when i checked the properties of csound (which else packages are
needed, etc...) i found written there "in conflict with: csound".

its somehow really funny and melancholic. Why does this package stand
in conlfict with ITSELF - i thought this would be something rather
  humans do than packages.

But this way its really no use...

  1)16.04 LTS
  2)1:605~dfs91build1
3)i expected i would be able to install csound, to make it run
  4) it doesn´t run. probably because csound is in conflict with itself

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1567827] Re: on ubuntu 16.04, phatch freezes at startup

2016-12-27 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
In order to get a fix in Ubuntu 16.04, please perform as much as
possible of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's
attention. Looks like the attached patch would be a good candidate for
an SRU.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1464876] Re: Please update Game_Music_Emu plugin to 0.6.0

2016-12-23 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Sorry, I might have been mistaken intially. The game-music-emu package
has been updated to 0.6.0 in Ubuntu 16.04 and later, as mentioned above.
See also http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/libgme0.

But it looks like the audacious plugin is "based on" Game_Music_Emu, and
therefore (completely?) independent of the standalone package. I'm not
sure if this should be reported as a new bug, but it might be my fault
for moving the report to the game-music-emu package in the first place,
so I've marked audacious-plugins as also affected.

only 17 effects. I have not choosen audacity as package for this bug,
becausse it can be a bug of the "ubuntustudio-audio-plugins" too
because the effects are displayed in kdenlive (16.04), but they don´t
work. I´m not sure, if this is a seperate kdenlive bug, that the
effects installed with the command i already wrote doesn´t work.

I´m using Linux Mint 18, but i have the same problem in a Ubuntu 16.04
live session and in an Ubuntu 16.04 VM.

EDIT: Wow, why this displays audacity as bug package, i haven´t
choosen it, bug of launchpad or because of uMatrix? But is also
  matter.

The installed package/version of gimp is 2.8.16-1ubuntu3. Gimp was

deprecated/removed in a new version of some gegl lib.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1168781] Re: Typo in description of package, does not show up when searching for "LADSPA"

The patch was accepted into Debian, correcting the description. It is
fixed in amb-plugins 0.8.1-5 which has been synced to Ubuntu Xenial (the
current development version), which means it will be part of Ubuntu
16.04. Thus, I believe this issue can be marked fixed.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1488469] Re: GIMP crashes on startup

2015-10-25 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for providing the requested information.

>From what I found on
http://elementaryos.stackexchange.com/questions/1859/gtk-message-failed-
to-load-module-pantheon-filechooser-module it looks like the message
about "pantheon-filechooser-module" might be unrelated, which leaves us
with gimp and adobe reader. It's not clear to me how the combination
could trigger this issue though.

Based on the gimp version number, it seems to be installed from a PPA.
Have you checked whether the same problem occured with the regular gimp
version available in the archives?

(Also, I thought Adobe Reader was available in the archives, but from
skimming online it only seems to be present in older releases.)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I took the liberty of moving this bug report to the gimp package, since it
doesn't seem to be related to radiotray.
Do you consistently get this error message each time you attempt to run gimp?

Also, could you please execute the following command, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1488469
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and
the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1219941] Re: update to argyll 1.6.2

be closed as Fix Released. (Also, regarding comment #4, argyll
1.5.1-5ubuntu1 is available in Ubuntu 14.04.)

Newer versions of packages are usually not added to the archive for
already released Ubuntu versions unless it fixes a critical issue. If

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 533623] Re: gimp's mouse clicks don't work on pegged menus

2015-04-26 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I am still able to reproduce this issue with gimp 2.8.14-1ubuntu1 on
Ubuntu 15.04.

However, I also tried with 2.8.14-1+b1 on Debian Sid, where the menu
worked as expected after pinning it by clicking on the dotted line. So
it looks like the problem is Ubuntu-specific. (I didn't see any error
messages or other output when running gimp in a terminal related to
this.)

gimp's mouse clicks don't work on pegged menus

Status in gimp package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gimp

gimp's 'pegged' menus recently stopped working (see attached
  screenshot).

  To reproduce:

  * Open gimp
  * Create new image
  * Right click on the image and select (eg) Layer and click on the dotted line
() that appears at the top of the menu
  * Click on 'Scale Layer' on the pegged (fixed) menu that appears.

Results: Nothing happens except the 'Scale Layer' menu option becomes
  selected.

Expected result: the 'Scale Layer' window should appear.

This is just an example - none of the menu options work on any of the
'pegged' menus. However, if you select an option on the pegged menu
that has submenu options, eg 'Transform' and select one of the options
that appears, the submenu option does work.

This might be an X issue, as when you click on the gimp pegged menu
option, clicking elsewhere (eg on Firefox) doesn't move focus to
Firefox as expected (you have to click on the desktop or the gimp
  image window first).

Bug description:
Inkscape community proudly announces the 0.91 release of Inkscape! Please
update Ubuntu 15.04 packages to the latest stable Inkscape version.
Packages for Uuntu 14.x, 12.04 and 15.04 are available at
ppa:inkscape.dev/stable - see
  https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/ubuntu/stable

This release marks the culmination of a multi-year effort to switch to a new
internal graphics rendering engine, Cairo. This brings performance enhancements
and more accurate rendering of drawings.
A new Trace Pixel Art feature enables creation of vector art from bitmaps,
sprites, and icons. A new Symbols Library provides reusable graphics elements -
you can even read in Visio symbol libraries. New Snapping options and improved
Snap preferences make it easier to quickly place items in the alignments you
need. The tools for arranging objects offer several new ways to position the
elements of a drawing. Tons of other little improvements have been made across
all the other tools as well.
  Several new file formats are supported, including FXG, SIF and HTML5 export;
and VSD and CDR import. EMF/WMF are now readable and writable for all
platforms. And XCF, PDF, EPS, and PS+LaTeX support are improved.
Inkscape has a rich Extension ecosystem, which is well known for bringing
clever, cool, and innovative new ideas. Over a dozen new extensions are added
in this release, including an Isometric Grid Generator, a Bitmap Cropper, a
Text Extractor and a Text Merger, an HSL Adjuster, a Font Replacer, a Voronoï
Diagram Creator, and more.
The above barely scratches the surface of all the new stuff included in this
release. For the full story, including examples and screenshots, please see our
detailed Release Notes:
