Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeeze on Arch - developer version
Hi, I'm now having my 2nd go at this. I download Ubuntu for Wandboard, got it running and created the SD card in the 2nd slot. I then transferred this to the main slot and rebooted. I am now waiting for it to build I think. At the moment I am 40 minutes in and the wandboard keeps rebooting every couple of minutes, is this part of the installation procedure or has something gone wrong? After 15 minutes I logged into the wandboard to get its ip.address, would this have affected the install? I also got the webpage up to check on the install procedure but after seeing one install update it now has no updates but not all of the tabs work across the top. How do I know when the install is complete? It looks like there are nightly LMS builds running for testing and unstable since you can see the time stamps updated every day on the packages at http://debian.slimdevices.com/pool/main/l/logitechmediaserver/ but maybe the systems aren't updated as often. I apologise for my cluelessness. I have decided to enter into the world of linux and thought I would have a go running lms under debian wheezy with arch desktop on an old intel desktop 64 bit. I have managed to install LMS which appears to be running fine and appears in the browser. That said I do not have a player on the network where the debian machine is set up, and therefore can't actually play anything without squeezelite. i have installed the local player plugin which tells me that squeezelite is not running. I initially tried under 7.7.3 then installed 7.90 where it still doesn't work. I tried installing squeezelite manually via arch, but the G debi intaller refused to install the only version I could find (I think this may have been because it called itself i386. I tried lots of different versions and couldn't get anythig to install. I tried followig the instructions here https://linux.freethenoise.com/logitechmediaserver/ including udo wget http://squeezelite-downloads.googlecode.com/git/squeezelite-x86-64 which appeared to do s-omething -. I tried to follow the instructions but couldn't work out how to put the startup script in etc/init.d/squeezelite (Arch would allow me to create the relevant file at least i could not work out how to get the relevant permissions.) In short I am stumped. [SlimDevices: Unix] any issues with LMS 7.8.x or 7.9.x on Debian Wheezy (x86)?
Hi all. I'm planning to upgrade my LMS box from Debian Squeeze (6.x) to Wheezy (7.x). Any gotcha's I need to look out for when it comes to running LMS? I installed SOA over a clean base Arch linux installed per this blog: http://blog.qnology.com/2014/07/hacking-pogoplug-v4-series-4-and-mobile.html Then I did the manual install per the first post. Took about 15 minutes to do the updates and build SOA. I have only basic needs, internet radio mostly; my music is 16 bit/44 kHz FLAC. I've tested with 2 basic 16 bit DACs and no problems. I did turn off MMAP as there were some crackles on initial use, and an ArchARM forum recommended this. On restart of squeezelite, the SOA box does not reconnect to the server. The server can see it, but it must be manually connected. I might have a second server running on a test box, so perhaps that is the reason. I have not seen this with my SB3 or VAMP. The server is 7.7.3. The beauty of this is that the Pogoplug Mobile is about $12 at the moment. Arch is on a SD card, and there is a single USB port for the DAC. Pretty inexpensive player that is unobtrusively small. If you start squeezelite without specifying a server it can move to another server if the first server goes away. You should be able to use the web interface to move it back. I can reconnect the player from LMS no problem. It reports the player is not connected and would I like to connect. I discovered the server ip in the advanced config tab, so it is now set. Haven't really tested yet. In any case not a big problem, and actually no problem when I stop playing with it.
