You'd need a particularly good setup and have a DAC that assumes the master clock of the Pi and DAC and resamples the stream into something approaching perfection before you'd hear the differences. adding to that is the optimised version has a number of issues/limitations, like doesnt play well with wifi, that make it not suitable for the beginner. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 4.0.0
By way of example; I have a Synology DS413j, great for low power home NAS duties. But it doesnt cut the mustard (so to speak) when used for downloading torrents and running LMS at the same time. Especially when LMS is faced with indexing 200,000 songs. Just browsing the album list became painful. I tried LMS on pCP on a rPi 2B+ and it was also too slow for my needs. I now run LMS on a much 'bigger' server (xeon 1260) that runs XPenology (a community version of Synology) and it flys along. Indexing is fast, and loading album and song lists is fast too. I havent tried a Pi 3 with LMS. Maybe someone has done some LMS benchmarking ? I do know pCP will play PCM over HDMI. So in theory it should work well enough. rPi 3 + rasPi 7" LCD + HiFiBerry DiGi+ | rPi 2 + IQaudio DAC+ |rPi 2 + HiFiBerry DAC+ | Squeeze Box Touch | LMS + XPenology on HP Gen 8 | huxmut's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65108 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108852 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.5.0
as well as auto start options in pCP the LMS has a per player setting for 'Power On', it's under //settings/player/audio/power on resume there are a few options around playback - pause or stop on power off, and playlist - remain or restart or reset on power on edit - I think it defaults to - pause at power off with *resume* at power on rPi 3 + rasPi 7" LCD + HiFiBerry DiGi+ | rPi 2 + IQaudio DAC+ |rPi 2 + HiFiBerry DAC+ | Squeeze Box Touch | LMS + XPenology on HP Gen 8 | huxmut's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65108 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108852 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.00
I've always wondered about that 'wife's tale'. I thought it would go like - server feeds data to network, data gets transmitted, packets arrive, sorted, buffered, enter play back stream independent of server 'speed/timing' ? anyway, i know that's a discussion for other parts of the forums, so I'll just say thanks for the pCP images. I'm happy with one, so you guys spoil us with choice ;) rPi 3 + rasPi 7" LCD + HiFiBerry DiGi+ | rPi 2 + IQaudio DAC+ |rPi 2 + HiFiBerry DAC+ | Squeeze Box Touch | LMS + XPenology on HP Gen 8 | huxmut's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65108 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105997 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
