The output settings were correct and resaving them didn't help, so I
selected Analog Audio and saved that. On reboot, Squeezelite started, so
I reselected the DAC and rebooted again. Squeezelite started and showed
as running the autostart favourite, but there was no audio output.

I still have that card but have started again with a new image and that
is working as expected. I can experiment further if it would be useful.

BTW, the reduced boot time with 6.1 is significant, 20 secs vs 30 secs
with 6.0 on the Pi2. Excellent!

[SlimDevices: Unix] piCoreGamePlayer PoC

2020-06-10 Thread andreas99

Hello together,

the last some days I started a PoC for an idea I had since I setup my
first piCorePlayer. I like to play some retro games on the same nice
box

To document what I did I setup a GitHub project[1] and put all
information there.

Now I would need some feedback about the idea to play retro games in
piCorePlayer installation and maybe also some hints about the current
architectural design before I continue to work.

regards
Andreas

[SlimDevices: Unix] LMS very unresponsive after upgrade from 7.9.1 to 7.9.2

2020-06-10 Thread GoodVibrations

Been running a rock stable setup on Debian for more than 12 years now.
I almost never "fiddle" with it, so I'm more than a little rusty with my
own system. That's the price you pay when it just works. :-)

But the other day I got tired of it bugging me with a message about an
upgrade being available.
So I upgraded from 7.9.1 to 7.9.2. (dpkg -i
logitechmediaserver_7.9.2_all.deb).
I'm running it on 4.9.0-12-686-pae (perl is v5.24.1).

After the upgrade it became almost completely unresponsive.
I cannot access it from a browser or any of the players.

Top shows:
PID USER PR NIVIRTRESSHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+
COMMAND
424 squeeze+ 20 0 186788 178296 12868 R 100,0 4,3 1300:10
squeezebox+

I have these processes:
squeeze+ 405 0.0 0.0 5508 3228 ?Sjun09 0:00
/bin/bash /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver_safe /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver
--prefsdir /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs --logdir
/var/log/squeezeboxserver/ --cachedir /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache
--charset=utf8
squeeze+ 424 63.9 4.3 186788 178296 ? Rjun09 1300:59
/usr/bin/perl /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --prefsdir
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs --logdir /var/log/squeezeboxserver/
--cachedir /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache --charset=utf8
squeeze+ 556 0.1 0.0 163280 3696 ?Sl jun09 2:05

-Z -I -b 192.168.86.221 -x
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/castbridge.xml

It stays this way for around 9 hours And then it suddenly comes
alive again and I can access it via a browser and the different
players.

I then rebooted my box, and LMS goes crazy again for the next 9
hours!?:

Yesterday I upgraded to the latest nightly in the hope that it would
help. It didn't.

I haven't changed any settings at all.
I have just upgraded the server-package.

I have no idea what the server is working so hard on? :-)

Any kind of help will be much appreciated.
Regards.

What software did you load on your PC and mobile devices? You need some

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0

2020-06-10 Thread Rajani

Hello,

I just installed piCorePlayer 6 on my Rasp Pi B (with no wifi dongle).
Rasp Pi is connected directly to my router. I installed both SqueezeLite
and LMS as per "how-to" instructions. My music resides on NAS and LMS
was able to access it and LMS interface shows on port :9000 with all the
music.

However, I am unable to hear the music on my laptop or any mobile
devices. The music can be accessed thru the audio jack and/or HDMI
connection on Pi itself. Also when I do play a song, the Pi shows the
following error:

/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/armhf-linux/sox FAIL sox "-" error writing
output file: Broken pipe

I would appreciate help resolving this error so that I can stream music
on my home network

Otherwise, piCorePlayer is a neat set-up and very helpful to those not
familiar with linux. Thank you for putting this together.

I'd already done that Paul. Here's a couple of snips from the setup
pages. I also confirmed that card works as a dac by streaming to the
device rather than from it.
