Even with these zero settings there is a good 5 mm spacing of the

Thanks for your response.

[libreoffice-users] LO4.01 and msvcp100.dll

2013-03-07 Thread davews
I upgraded from 3.5 to 4.01 yesterday and the new version seems to work fine
- Windows 7 Premium x64,. But this morning when I tried to open one of my
other programs (xplorer2, a windows explorer replacment) it complained that
a file, msvcp100.dll, was missing. I managed to download a copy of it from
the web and copied it to my windows/system folder and that has sorted that
issue out.

I see there was some discussion of this and related files elsewhere on here.
Is it possible that the install program has incorrectly deleted it? I cannot
think of anything else that might have caused it as the other program has
run fine for ages.

Hi :)
You will notice that was a very old thread.  It's a rare event that you will
probably not be able to repeat on any future install or other messing around
with your system even if you deliberately try breaking things.  Windows just
does weird things like that occasionally.  Most systems suffer some sort of
system rot over time.  Some much worse than others but all suffer from it.
Now that you have fixed it you'll probably never see that particular dll
problem again.

2013-03-07 Thread Ken Heard

I found in part the answer to my own question. Any text in a cell is
also a paragraph. If the paragraph style used in a cell provides for
spacing on any or all four sides of a paragraph, then those spaces
override the spacing in the borders tab.

So I managed to fix most of the cells by adjusting the spacing in the
paragraphs used, but there is still one row with three cells where the
spacing in the border tab and in the paragraph style are all zero, yet
the spacing is still much larger on the top and bottom than I really want.

Hi :)
Lqtm :)  Thanks :)  Yes, it's a magic waggle the wires type of answer that a
lot of much more knowledgeable people miss.

On Ubuntu's Launchpad pseudo-forums for questions about sound issues i got used
to asking the standard questions Mark Rijckenburg would usually ask, to save
him the time.  In the same 1st response i would casually mention it worth
unplugging and re-plugging the little green plug and the speaker's power-supply
and switch the speakers on again.   Just doing that seemed to fix around
60%-80% of problems!

As a menu item it would need to say something like Reset LibreOffice back to
factory defaults but a few people might get an unexpectedly more pure set of
defaults than they originally had because the version in their distro's repo or
versions on unofficial sites or Cd/Dvds might have already been tweaked.

Anyway, i'm glad the magic worked :)

Hi Tom

Just a Shout Out to you my friend!!

I have noticed over the years that you are a regular informer to people having
problems with LO (Me included!!) And that you frequently tell them to Rename
your Profile.

Well this week I was doing some work on comparing two printouts from two
different Databases looking for common names, duplicates and missing names. I
had pulled both lists into Calc and was happily getting the job done when LO
froze-up, started writing to the HDD for some time and then crashed.

I said a few choice words and re-started - 10 mins later it happened again. I
re-booted the whole system and tried again - same thing.

I re-created the Calc file and tried again - same result!!

By this time my choice words were getting VERY colourful!! I sat back and
thought about the problem. Then I remembered your frequent advice to Rename
the Profile so I gave it a go.

MAGIC - all returned to its usual perfect condition and I have had no more
problems.

Thanks Tom for pushing the fix and to have kept reminding us of it. I almost
feel that a Rename Profile option should be added to the Menu - what do you
think!!??

All the best and keep it up Tom

Base uses Writer to produce its forms; forms are ODF text
documents. So, open an untitled document in Writer and then make your
changes in the Writer section. (Tools Options LibreOffice Writer).
For the Mac, use LibreOffice Preferences LibreOffice.
I use Base on a regular basis. Living in the USA, a new LO version
use Inches. I change this to cm in Writer, and I can then edit my forms
using cm instead of inches.

Also, the bit about users+ being important doesn't make sense, unless

say that they go to users@global... so I expected the original poster

   I agree with you Ian!

   Cleaning out the cache ... re-booting ... ... ...
I think these are used to confound us  ;-)

Without Tom, many of us could remain befuddled  ;-)
so I hope, Tom, you continue to spread your helpful hints.

Hi :)
Lqtm :)  Thanks :)  Yes, it's a magic waggle the wires type of answer that
a lot of much more knowledgeable people miss.

On Ubuntu's Launchpad pseudo-forums for questions about sound issues i got
used to asking the standard questions Mark Rijckenburg would usually ask, to
save him the time.  In the same 1st response i would casually mention it
worth unplugging and re-plugging the little green plug and the speaker's
power-supply and switch the speakers on again.   Just doing  that seemed to
fix around 60%-80% of problems!

As a menu item it would need to say something like  Reset LibreOffice back
to factory defaults but a few people might get an unexpectedly more pure set
of defaults than they originally had because the version in their distro's
repo or versions on unofficial sites or Cd/Dvds might have already been
tweaked.

Anyway, i'm glad the magic worked :)

Tom :)

Hi Tom

Just a Shout Out to you my friend!!

I have noticed over the years that you are a regular informer to people
having problems with LO (Me included!!) And that you frequently tell them
to Rename your Profile.

Well this week I was doing some work on comparing two printouts from two
different Databases looking for common names, duplicates and missing names.
I had pulled both lists into Calc and was happily getting the job done when
LO froze-up, started writing to the HDD for some time and then crashed.

I said a few choice words and re-started - 10 mins later it happened again.
I re-booted the whole system and tried again - same thing.

I almost
feel that a Rename Profile option should be added to the Menu - what do
you think!!??

All the best and keep it up Tom
