Re: [libreoffice-users] Chart data
Hi: I could suggest you to select a greatter range than you are going to use at the begining. For example. Imagine you need make a chart with the information of all the months of the year but at this moment you have only seven mounth, like this: Row A B 1 J 10 2 F 20 3 M 30 4 A 40 5 My 40 6 J 50 7 Jy 60 But you expect five additional months: Row A B 8 A ? (Keep in blank) 9 S ? (Keep in blank) 10 O ? (Keep in blank) 11 N ? (Keep in blank) 12 D ? (Keep in blank) When you select the initial range you can select: A1:B12 as complete series In this case the chart only show elements graphics for months that have numbers...the others only by referens...but if you dont want show these in the chart you can hide its part of range-rows-(Partial or Total), and the chart adjusts automatically its range. I hope this help you to make your chart better and easier, Regards, Jorge Rodríguez El mié, 23-07-2014 a las 10:48 +0100, Gordon Burgess-Parker escribió: Hi! Hi :) Similarly DocX promises to be cross-platform and able to be used by any relevant program. So did Rtf. Re: [libreoffice-users] status of macro in ODF interoperability?
Hi :) I have a feeling that macros were OK between LO and AOO a couple of years ago but there have been huge developments in LO during that time so compatibility has probably suffered a bit. What happens to a macro written for LO that calls functionality which doesn't exist in other suites? Also what happens if the functionality does exist in another suite but is handled differently? If written for AOO then i suspect it'll probably work in LO. Or if written for LO and manages to avoid the newer features then presumably it'll work in AOO too (but cross your fingers jic!). Obviously this is also going to be a problem with macros that people try to run in older versions of LibreOffice. So if compatibility is a main concern then avoid using newer functionality! All this is also a problem in MS Office, of course. However they have the additional problem that even sticking to basic functionality is often a problem between different versions and that happens even if the version of MSO is newer than the one the macro was written for. At my workplace we are stuck on MS Office 2010 and can't upgrade or move to 365 due to this issue. Rewriting the macros each time we need to upgrade is a pain. At least with the LO macros the languages used are the same in each upgrade/update and the same as those used in other office suites. So re-writing is less of an issue. It would be better for us to re-write to LO macro-code because then we would only have to do the re-write just the 1 time. However all this is only my own opinion and could easily be wrong. I do my best to avoid macros. Regards from Tom :) On 23 July 2014 16:40, M. [libreoffice-users] news about LibreOffice
Hi :) Wow!! Just found this excellent page https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LOWN/3 by William Gathoye It is not always 100% perfect English but it's a great read and has some quite compelling sections. For example; https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LOWN/3#LibreOffice_for_Mobile_will_be_soon_a_reality which i really hadn't realised at all. I thought there was a major blocker preventing this and that on-top of having to re-write 100% of the coding first. However it now seems that only 10% of the code needs re-writing! The UI issue seems a lot less of a problem too! I wish that instead of the issues being 1, 2, 3 they gave the date, perhaps in reverse order such as 2014-07-07 2014-07-14 2014-07-21 but it is MUCH easier to see those things in hindsight and it probably wouldn't have occurred to me at the time either. Luckily it is fairly easy to set-up new pages, copypaste contents and then set-up redirects from the old pages. The bit i never figure out is how to get the table-of-contents at the beginning of the page. Just out of curiosity can it be floated off to a different side? (Even if it can it's probably better to keep it where it is to make it consistent with the other wiki-pages) It looks like a huge amount of work has gone into this and it's really great to see it collect together information from so many mailing lists. Good work William! [libreoffice-users] Cannot change spacing in Math
Hello! I have a problem: it is impossible to reduce the spacing in the LO Math settings. I go to Format -- Spacing... , then choose Borders in the Category drop-down list, and see that the settings are: Left: 125.93mm Right: 249.32mm Top: 249.37mm Bottom: 1.03mm and I cannot reduce them (see attached screenshot). Is this a bug? And what is more important -- is there a way out of this terrible situation? Hi. I have scanned to file with xine and then used OCR to convert the image to text I can then edit in LO. Re: [libreoffice-users] Scan documents?
I just tried this for the first time on my Slackware Linux system and it does seem to be broken. (LO 3.6.7.2) I used Insert - Picture - Scan - select source to verify it was using my Epson USB flatbed scanner. The problem with my version is that it defaults to the existing, but unconnected video device (v4l:/dev/video0). When I select my scanner in the Device used option, it shows the epson2:libusb:00, which I assume is correct. However, it still will not scan and the About Device button results in the info for the video device even though I changed the device. It will not run the scanner and results in a garbage block (probably the unconnected video card). LO does not seem to support USB scanners. I would do a separate scan with Xsane and save it in whatever format you want. I usually use jpeg, but others could work also. Just do _not_ use encapsulated Postscript. Then insert that file into your document. I have had good success with that process. HTH. Re: [libreoffice-users] Cannot change spacing in Math
I found a solution. Well, maybe not a solution, but a quick workaround. In order to set the sane values for the borders in the formula one should go to Tools -- Options... -- LibreOffice -- Advanced -- Expert Configuration And find the items /org.openoffice.Office.Math/StandardFormat/Distance - LeftSpace /org.openoffice.Office.Math/StandardFormat/Distance - TopSpace /org.openoffice.Office.Math/StandardFormat/Distance - BottomSpace /org.openoffice.Office.Math/StandardFormat/Distance - RightSpace then press Edit and set the values in hundredth of mm (100 - is 1mm). Still, this way seems a very very unobvious to me. And the question of why isn't it possible to change these values in the respective dialog window remains. Should I report to Bugzilla about this issue? Regards, Vladimir On 23 July 2014 20:21, v...@ukr.net wrote: Hello! I have a problem: it is impossible to reduce the spacing in the LO Math settings. Re: [libreoffice-users] Problem with standard filter
The same inconsistency also makes that if one filter on the only one value available by filtering on 'Not empty', and subsequently deletes the value fro the visible rows, it is impossible to switch off the selection (since 'All' doesn't work as being really all). I opened [Bug 81577] for this.
