Re: Wap push help!!!

2007-01-18 Thread Kavuri Prasad

Hi Tushar,

Configuration for PPG is very simple. You just follow the Kannel-UserGuide.
You can also post your present configuration.

To send Push:

1) You can use test_ppg (which is under kannel_gateway source.
2) You can also write PHP/Java/.Net application to push sms.

Prasad

I have done the same using java.

All I need Kannel to do is to get the sms when it arrives, store it on

Has anyone managed to successfully do that? If you have, please email me

If possible post confuguration and OS details, Kannel version etc ...

Ok, You can always follow Kannel User guide to install and configure.
While installing using 'yum' I am sure it will show you the version and asks
your confirmation.

If there any configuration errors then some body can help in the forum but
top to bottom is not possible.

Ok Try to follow Kannel Userguide, If you still not solved means tell us.

Hi Kavuri,

I am using version the current version of Kannel from yum (I am new to
Linux. Is there an easier way to determine the versoin?)

I am also on Fedora Core 5.

As for the technologies to be used, it is still flexible. I will probably
need to integrate with a web portal, so it is possible I will use PHP.

Please email me back if you or anyone else can help!!

Hai foong,

how r you sending push request to kannel? Have you tried with test_ppg provided by kannel. (You can find test_ppg in $Kannel_gateway/test/test_ppg).

If you are using Java, I already posted code for this . If you use that code then you just need to replace the URL, Descriptionand Mobile number.

try to post your problem more clearly. Like your configuration and where you using this service? Any external program trying to send?

Dear all,

I am using Kannel 1.4.0 on Fedora 4 core. I have a problem with Character encoding. I also specified mo-recode=1 so kannel is converting MO message from UCS2 to UTF-8(Hex format).
Other end I am using Java applicationto process the incoming message. Until now iam using GET-URL to send the message from Kannel to my Java application. So when it is sending an UTF8 message it sending with %.

Example: my message test ฟธชฟขจงจขจงจ(this is THAI). Kannel send this message to Java application as test%20%E0%B8%9F%E0%B8%98%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%9F%E0%B8%82%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%82%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%88. But when I receive this in my java application it is printing as junk. i tried to decode it with different Charsets, but it doesn't work.

Any ideas ?

1) Then I thought of sending the message through POST-URL. But I am not sure which ServletRequest method to use to retrive the Message. I can retrive Remaining all values like sender, Content type, UDH, Length using getHeader .. (As Kannel is sending them as Header). But how about message?

2) If the message is fully in Hex format means I can do some String formatting and convert to the Thai. But the problem here is my message is conbination of English and THAI. So Kannel is forwarding English characters with out converting to HEX format. Is there any way of converting every thing to Hex format at kannel?

Please show me a way to solve this ...

if you need any info to solve it i am ready to provide ...

I don't have any bad message fragment. I am using log-level=0 in both sms and wap configuration.
This problem stopped my work :( . Any alternatives..?

Thanks,

Hi Kavuri,

PPG should return an error message containing 'bad message fragment'.
This would tell wher ePPG believes the error is.

Hai,

morecode=1 to my smsbox bearerbox can't start Bearerbox never depends on this as per my knowledge ... When you use morecode=1 check your kannel log, it suppose to print converting message UCS2 to UTF-8.

get-url="" title="http://172.17.37.147/kannel/default.aspx?phone=%qtext=%abinary=%b" href="http://172.17.37.147/kannel/default.aspx?phone=%qtext=%abinary=%b" target="_blank">

text = %a is better to handle total message. and why are you specifying binary ...
What kind of error you getting in ASP.NET (ofcourse, I don't have any idea about .Net).

Hai Issam,

When you are sending unicode message use morecode=1 option in SMSBOX SETUP. So this will convert incoming message to UTF-8.

But Could not fetch content error may not be related to this CHARECTER SET problem. It is mor likely a connection between smsbox and bearerbox or some other application you are connectiong too. Chek you configuration again.

I think, it is better to post your configuration to Kannel user group so some one should point out the mistake Think about it .

Hmm, so you send a unicode message (which real language icons embedded?) and the response is could not fetch content. This seems like smsbox received the message, but couldn't resolve the keyword or other routing
criteria for the required sms-service. Did you try to use a single 'default' sms-service to hook all incoming messages to that? Stipe

Re: Seems kannel does not decode encoded characters

2006-05-18 Thread Kavuri Prasad
Hi Gulshan, Kannel will do encoding and decoding of messages. Just that we need to know what is the Charset we are sending and in which charset you need to encod it.I think in your case you need to add 1 more parameterand change charset to utf-8 to your post. It should be like this :
PostMethod
post = new PostMethod(http://ip-address:13013/sendsms);post.setRequestHeader(Content-Type,
text/plain;
charset=utf-8);post.setRequestHeader(X-Kannel-Username,
user);post.setRequestHeader(X-Kannel-Password,
password);post.setRequestHeader(X-Kannel-To,
toPhone);post.setRequestHeader(X-Kannel-DLR-Mask,
19); post.setRequestHeader(X-Kannel-Coding,
2);post.setRequestEntity(new StringRequestEntity(Ceci est
trčs élégant ŕ tester));Normally i won't use Post method so iam not sure but in my get method it should be like this:
http://ip-address:13013/sendsms?username=foobarpassword=foobarto=recipfrom=origtext=%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%81charset=
utf-8coding=2Regards,PrasadOn 5/18/06,

Hi Rodrigo,Thanks for your Idea. I have tried with those and still not able to see the output. But with coding=2 option I can able to see a diffrent form of junk. So I thought it may be some thing I need to do in Kannel codes !!!
Do you think so?But Iam not sure yet about the source code in Kannel (I have very little knowledge of 'C'). I tried to send the message in different formats like normal text, HexString(UTF-8 UTF-16).
Is there any other ways of doing it. Once again thanks for your inputs. On 5/10/06, Rodrigo Cremaschi

request: 'เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ คอมพิวเตอร์และอินเทอร์เน็ต'. (these are
Thai characters and may not display properly in Windows systems unless
untill you installs font). When this messages reaches Mobile

Re: Concatenate incoming messages?

2006-05-03 Thread Kavuri Prasad
Hai Janne,You have to handle it in your application based on the UDH received. When the long message splits then those messages comes with header. Normally UDH is 5 characters (UDH = 00 03 22 02 01). In the above Binary code the last 2 characters are important as last one says current message number and the other one says total number of messages. In this case total number of of messages are 2 and current message is 1.
You can able to catch the udh by using %u. You can find the details in userguide (chapter 6).Regards,PrasadOn 5/3/06, Janne Mikkonen
