If the ODF community is very serious (extremely serious) about dominating the landscape, then OpenOffice.org needs to consider a mobile version NOT PORTABLE VERSION. You're confusing file formats (ODF) with applications (OpenOffice). There are many applications that work with ODF files, OpenOffice being but one of them. There may very well be applications for those devices that support ODF. For example, there will soon be AbiWord for the Nokia N800 N810 Internet Tablet. AbiWord supports ODT files, at least in the desktop version. ODT files are the ODF format for word processing. Due to resource limitations, mobile applications tend to be light weight, which means they are stripped down, compared to full suites, such as OpenOffice. I don't know about you, but besides when I view it on Nokia's website, I can't actually remember if I have actually seen the two phones you mentioned above. When I talk about mobile devices, I mean that which the average Joseph uses. My point is, I for one would like to see OpenOffice Mobile (if there's going to be one). If mobile applications such as Quick Office can do the job effectively, I don't see why OpenOffice can't do the same. The two devices I mentioned are not phones, though they do support voice over IP. They are full, pocket sized computers, with browser, email and many other features. As I mentioned writing for a mobile device means fewer resources are available, to the point where you are writing a new application, that may share some features with a larger one. Given that OpenOffice is created and produced by volunteers, with help from some companies, I don't know that there will be someone available to create those applications. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Perhaps I'm being to forward. I'll keep an eye out for when OpenOffice decides to provide something for the mobile user. Thanks for the help. TTFN I suppose it's a bit like Word Mobile; not everything that's in MS Office for Windows 2000/XP/Vista is also in the Mobile version. For example, from Wikipedia's entry for Word Mobile: Footnotes, endnotes, headers, footers, page breaks, certain indentation of lists, and certain fonts, while not displayed nor able to be inserted while working on a document in Word Mobile, such features are retained if the original document has them. Also, according to Microsoft, the functionality available in Mobile Office varies from device to device. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to users@openoffice.org

Off the top of my head, besides OpenOffice StarOffice, there's KOffice, AbiWord, Gnumeric, Symphony, Lotus Notes, Google Apps, Gnumeric. No he's not; he's asking if there is any likelihood of a Windows Mobile version of *OpenOffice* as there are of Quick Office and MS Office.
