Re: [Users] VM has paused due to unknown storage error
It seems that your guest file system is corrupted. The dd approach won't help cause this is a virtual disk, you need to fix the virtual disk inside the lv, that's why any operations on the lv won't help. You can try shutting down the vm (not paused, but literally down) and add the guest vm disk as a second disk to another vm. In the second vm try to run fsck on the disk and see if it helps. In any case before trying to manipulate the disk image please save a backup!!! let me know how it goes... - Original Message - From: David Wilson d...@dcdata.co.za To: users@ovirt.org Sent: Sunday, December 2, 2012 11:17:43 AM Subject: [Users] VM has paused due to unknown storage error H i everyone, Sunday fun : ) One of our cr itical Linux VMs ran out of disk space. Re: [Users] VM has paused due to unknown storage error
Hi everyone, Some feedbackon this error, and a question I hope that someone could possibly assist with. I managed to get the guest running again byusing dd and qemu-img to export the filesystem image and base image, convert to raw format and run a fsck on the looped partition. When mounted as a loop filesystem, fsck easily repaired it. Any ideas why oVirt kept pausing the guest and did not allow fsck to repair the filesystem? Hi Adrian, Your domain ('033a2b87-def7-4c27-ab74-9860531f2ed4') is probably NFS. Don't worry about the failed vgs errors, it is not the problem. Hi Trey, On 12/01/2012 10:55 AM, Trey Dockendorf wrote: The site looks amazing! I'm a huge fan of Mediawiki, but have yet to see a site with that design / layout. Would you mind enlightening me as to what was used to produce a site that looks little like a typical Mediawiki instance? The theme is based on the Bootstrap framework from Twitter, so we inherit all of the layout options from there. Garrett Lesage worked hard to ensure that we also themed the tools sidebar to be unobtrusive when you're logged in, to remain harmonious with the default theme, while still being a wiki. The theme will be published very soon, it was done in a way which allows it to be generic, and so useful for other MediaWiki instances also. Thanks for the praise! Re: [Users] VM has paused due to unknown storage error
David Wilson: Hi everyone, Some feedbackon this error, and a question I hope that someone could possibly assist with. I managed to get the guest running again byusing dd and qemu-img to export the filesystem image and base image, convert to raw format and run a fsck on the looped partition. I am happy you make that work. Can you describe more details about how you dd the guest image? And how did you use qemu-img to export the filesystem image and base image. When mounted as a loop filesystem, fsck easily repaired it. Any ideas why oVirt kept pausing the guest and did not allow fsck to repair the filesystem? As Dave pointed out, when we have a critical need to restart services that may affect any of you, we'll try to give an hour notice. In the past we did have the ability to do that, but there are several problematic issues. Best regards, Hi, correct-me if I am wrong but this wiki page ( http://www.ovirt.org/DomainInfrastructure ) states clearly : 1. Authenticating Active Directory, IPA and RHDS using either simple or gssapi authentication 2. Querying the directory using the LDAP protocol 3. Auto deducing the LDAP provider type 4. Easily adding new LDAP provider types 5. Easily adding new query types So what ? We supported simple authentication in the past, but it is no longer supported, that's why you can't set that using the manage domains utility. It may work well in some providers (in the past we supported that for active directory, so I guess it would work there). I don't think we removed SIMPLE from the engine, we just don't recommend using it, since it doesn't encrypt user/password on the network (it is sometime useful for debugging). We also don't auto deduce the LDAP provider type anymore, as changes in the providers caused some issues with it. I'll edit the wiki accordingly (btw, I remember removing it from the wiki... so it is weird that it is still there...). Re: [Users] tool engine-manage-domains
Hi, Several things - a. I think logging at this point should be improved b. Since the log is not informative enough, please try the following: 1. Check that your credentials are correct 2. Check you have no clock skew issue (the time difference between the machine running manage-domains and your ldap server should be less or equal to 5 minutes). 3. Connection refused so there is some connectivity issue - please query your ldap SRV records for the domain (IMHO dig SRV _ldap._tcp. viperde.com.br should do the trick) please try to connect to these ldap servers manually - For example, if the returned host from the dig SRV query is aaa.viperde.com.br perform: telnet aaa.viperde.com.br 389 Turns out that I did not have telnet installed on my fc17 machine - I used yum install telnet to install it. Is there a way to enable nightly repo for f18 or do I have to manually download and install/update? I tried downloading manually and installed: [g.cecchi@f18aio ~]$ rpm -qa | egrep ovirt|vdsm|otopi ovirt-host-deploy-java-0.0.0-0.0.master.20121202.git17db8cd.fc18.noarch ovirt-log-collector-3.1.0-1.fc18.noarch vdsm-4.10.2-0.57.gite8f3848.fc18.x86_64 ovirt-engine-sdk-3.2.0.5-1.20121202.gitc0ab704.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-setup-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-webadmin-portal-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-cli-3.2.0.7-1.20121202.gitf43fd5c.fc18.noarch otopi-java-0.0.0-0.0.master.20121202.gitedc19ec.fc18.noarch vdsm-cli-4.10.2-0.57.gite8f3848.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-restapi-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-notification-service-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-image-uploader-3.1.0-1.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-userportal-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch otopi-0.0.0-0.0.master.20121202.gitedc19ec.fc18.noarch vdsm-bootstrap-4.10.0-11.fc18.noarch vdsm-python-4.10.2-0.57.gite8f3848.fc18.x86_64 ovirt-host-deploy-0.0.0-0.0.master.20121202.git17db8cd.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-dbscripts-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-setup-plugin-allinone-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch vdsm-xmlrpc-4.10.2-0.57.gite8f3848.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-config-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-backend-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-host-deploy-offline-0.0.0-0.0.master.20121202.git17db8cd.fc18.noarch ovirt-iso-uploader-3.1.0-1.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-tools-common-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch ovirt-engine-genericapi-3.1.0-3.20121202.gite000dc9.fc18.noarch Now I get: Installing: AIO: Validating CPU Compatibility...
