Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to login to the WEB UI

2016-08-10 Thread Fabrice Bacchella
I'm not sure it's a good idea if you're running 4.0. This procedure does half
of the job as it don't touch the custom java trust store and missing parts are
mandatory for ovirt 4. So I'm now stuck with an unreachable UI after
an upgrade and I don't know if I can roll back.

[ovirt-users] time zone

2016-08-10 Thread Fernando Fuentes
Team,

My vms are coming up with an exclamation mark saying that the guest time
zone differs from the configuration.

My linux vms are not doing this. Only my windows vm.

On windows I have it set for CST just like the configuration.
The hosts are on CST as well.
Any ideas?

This is Ovirt 4.0.1

I've attached a screenshot, seems there's not.

Its highly likely the dropdown is there, but its scrolled below

the bottom

of the dialog and thus you can't see it. I thought I made sure all

the

dialogs were working, seems like I missed one. Let me check it out

and see

what is going on.

Okay I double checked, I went to the VMs main tab, selected a VM,
then went to

the permissions sub tab. Clicked add. The dialog that popped up
looks like the

one attached, which is what I was expecting. The one you attached
appears to

be missing some styling, which is likely what caused the Role to
Assign part

to be scrolled below the bottom of the page.

Can you complete clear your cache (not shift reload, but
settings->clear

cache). If that doesn't work can you tell us the version of the
patternfly rpm

installed on your engine?

Yes, I already did that, also opened the engine on different clients
and the behavior is the same, I believe this is not a client issue.
Patternfly package is patternfly1-1.3.0-1.el7.centos.noarch

Anyhow, I see there are lots of packages to update so I'll do so
within a few days and report results.

So I was able to update all packages, restart run engine-setup just in
case, restart ovirt-engine and the situation is the same. I remembered
we also have a dev. environment oVirt installation which we upgraded
from 3.6.7 to 4.0.1 and same happens here, so finally we have 3
independent oVirt installations with the same problem. There's something
not working as intended.

I'm attaching a list of packages on oVirt engine and their versions if
you want to check if there's something wrong with versioning, although
everything seems to be ok.

Thanks!

Hi,

permissions are accessible using REST API (endpoint api/vms/{vmId}/permissions)
so it can be scripted in time based manner.

Regarding quotas for VMs, there are CPU profiles [1]. @Roy, can you please

Re: [ovirt-users] import qcow2 image to ovirt

2016-08-10 Thread Amit Aviram
It seems like you have an early version of ovirt-4.0, if you'll update your
version it might solve some of your problems (such as the exception in the
screenshot). soon, the size and format will be deduced from the image as
well, so many things will be clearer.

If you want to stay with your version, you'll need to do the following
steps in order to upload the file:
- At the engine's host, yum install ovirt-imageio-proxy
- Then, run engine-setup.
- Add the engine's CA to the Authorities list in your browser. (you can
download it from
https://%your_engine%/ovirt-engine/services/pki-resource?resource=ca-certificate=X509-PEM-CA

)

regarding the size- you can choose a bigger size than the original file's
size.

Hope that works out for you!

Re: [ovirt-users] Importing VM from Xen Server 6.5

2016-08-10 Thread Anantha Raghava

Hello Richard / Shahar,

I installed and enabled nc on Xen Server host. Now the " .. sh: nc:
command not found: Input/output error" is gone. Communication is
established. However I am still getting two specific errors:

VDSM ovirt_engine command failed: End of file while reading data: :
Input/Output error

&

Failed to retrieve VMs Information from the external server
xen+ssh://root@192.168.1.40

I am receiving the same error when I run virsh -c
xen+ssh://root@192.168.1.40

Screen shot is attached for quick reference.

Is it something to do with firewall / ip tables on xen server or
libvirtd host?

Yes, you need to install 'nc' on the *target* (Xen) machine.

This is because libvirt's ssh transport uses nc:

be missing some styling, which is likely what caused the Role to Assign part

to be scrolled below the bottom of the page.

Can you complete clear your cache (not shift reload, but settings->clear

cache). If that doesn't work can you tell us the version of the patternfly rpm

installed on your engine?

Yes, I already did that, also opened the engine on different clients and the behavior is the same, I believe this is not a client issue. Patternfly package is patternfly1-1.3.0-1.el7.centos.noarch

Anyhow, I see there are lots of packages to update so I'll do so within a few days and report results.

Okay I double checked, I went to the VMs main tab, selected a VM, then went to
the permissions sub tab. Clicked add. The dialog that popped up looks like the

Its highly likely the dropdown is there, but its scrolled below the bottom of
the dialog and thus you can't see it. I thought I made sure all the dialogs
were working, seems like I missed one. Let me check it out and see what is

There should be combo box to choose a role.

I've attached a screenshot, seems there's not.

OK, it seems like some UI issue. Can you please force reload or clear

Maybe try different browser.

Nope... Cleaned cache from Chrome, Firefox, same result. Even private
windows have the same behaviour. By the way, we have 2 independent
oVirt infrastructures, both upgraded from 3.6.7 and both have the same

In 3.5 we were registering an hosted-engine iSCSI storage domain as a
(fake) direct LUN into the engine to prevent any misuse.

You should see the lun in engine if you are logged in to the iscsi target.

Are you sure this lun is configured properly so the new host can access it?

Do you have correct /etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi on the host?

This is not a good idea, not sure that it is related to your problem,
but what you should do is:

1. Shutdown vms using this storage domain
2. Put storage domain to maintenance
3. Detach storage domain
4. Import storage domain on the other setup - this will work only
after you see the lun on the other setup

Ok, self answer.
As I have visual problems to notice the square border changes (and didn't
notice the dotted lines under the required fields).
Putting now data inside the upload starts, but then I see message "Paused
by System" in disks page
and in engine.log many mlines of type
2016-08-10 12:28:02,410 WARN
 [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.storage.disk.image.UploadDiskImageCommand]
(DefaultQuartzScheduler9) [4a24dd69] Failed to stop image transfer session.
Ticket does not exist for image '53e2ee54-b710-4872-bea6-fbecfa767bf9'

Also, as I have to specify a size, does that mean that I can use a
different virtual size from the original qcow2 file I'm uploding?

I didn't know about it so I just tested uploading a local file.

If you are using ovirt-4.0, you can just upload it to any storage domain
you have, from
Storage->domain->disks tab->Upload->Start
or:
Disks->Upload->Start

Thanks, Amit.

Ok, thanks for the update and clarifications.

RIght now, in 4.0, if I select Default cluster and try to edit it and
upgrade its Compatibility Version to 4.0, it seems I don't get any message
in the gui, or at least I don't see it; it's something similar to when you
have sort of syntactical or incomplete error in your input) ...
and in engine.log I see

 [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.storage.pool.UpdateStoragePoolCommand] (default

VAR__TYPE__STORAGE__POOL,VAR__ACTION__UPDATE,$ClustersList

Instead in 4.0.2 it should allow me to do it so that I should see all
running VMs, inlcluded the hosted engine VM, marked with configuration
change needed symbol?
In this case for engine VM would it be sufficient to run something like
thsi to commit its modifications?

hosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode=global
shutdown engine VM from os console
hosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode=none
verify engine VM is automatically started and without the flag about
configuration changes needed?

Yes, you need to install 'nc' on the *target* (Xen) machine.

This is because libvirt's ssh transport uses nc:

what is the current situation in 4.0.1 and then 4.0.2 for the problem of

Did you deployed the engine from scratch or did your restored there a backup?
In 3.5 we were registering an hosted-engine iSCSI storage domain as a
(fake) direct LUN into the engine to prevent any misuse.

[ovirt-users] 3.6 : iSCSI LUN not detected

2016-08-10 Thread Alexis HAUSER
Hi,

I am reinstalling a new Node with a new hosted-engine and I would like to
import an iSCSI storage from a previous ovirt installation.
However, I can see all LUN present on that iSCSI but the one I want... I
checked from the iSCSI array and this disk still exists, it's just not detected
from Ovirt (3.6)...
I tried to make a new data domain and chosed that same iSCSI and it's also not
detected.

Any ideas ?

I didn't remove the storage from the Engine interface on the previous
installation, just just turned off all VMs accessing the iSCSI and unplugged
the cable. Is it possible there is still a lock file or something from the
previous hypervisor ?

OK, it seems like some UI issue. Can you please force reload or clear

Maybe try different browser.

All this is done with the admin@internal user, so I guess this is not a
self-permission issue.

Interesting thing is that I can successfully log-in to the user portal
with a LDAP based user and manage all the VMs assigned to them.

Just to see if there's been any configuration change, we also run the
ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup tool, the configuration it returns
is pretty similar to ours, and even the test commands (Login, Search)
work successfully (I can see search returning user's data like name,
surname, ...). We even applied this configuration to engine to see if it
makes a difference but the result is the same, the search dialog returns
nothing and neither I can see the permission to grant.

Any hint about this?

We have this:

[ovirt-users] LDAP-based domain not working after upgrade?

2016-08-10 Thread Nicolás

Hi,

We're running oVirt 4.0.1.1, and we're trying to grant a permission to a
user on a VM. Thing is when we open the 'Permissions' subtab on that VM,
we click on Add, the LDAP backend shows up but any value entered into
the search box returns nothing, even when I know the values exist.

This has been working on oVirt 3.x, we actually migrated to 4.x last
week and didn't notice this issue.

Additionally, there's no combobox to choose the permission to grant?

Thanks

First you need to be able to login via virsh (before trying to import via
oVirt).

I never encounter this error before,
I guess that nc is netcat...,
try to install nmap-ncat:
$ dnf info nmap-ncat

Adding Richard which may have more input.
