[ovirt-users] VDI whit Ovirt Spice and NVIDIA passtrought

2017-10-05 Thread codignotto .
Good night friends, I'm trying to make the passtrought GPU run using OVIRT
with an NVIDIA M2000 / K2200 and a K4000, I made several configurations,
the VM with windows recognizes the card, I install the NVIDIA drivers and
after restarting the windows and access using the client SPICE remote viwer
the mouse to work, everything works because the mouse does not work for
anything, already tested with Win8, Win10 and the problem persists, the
card is recognized but the mouse does not work.

Has anyone used it this way? Passtrought from GPU to a VM using SPICE? I'm
going to use these clients with 3d and adobe products.

Thank you for your help

Re: [ovirt-users] VM remote noVNC console

Any idea how this can be addressed?

On Sep 19, 2017 23:07, "Alex K" wrote:

Hi all,

I am trying to get the VM console of a VM through SSH socks proxy.
This is a scenario I will frequently face, as the ovirt cluster will be
available only though a remote SSH tunnel.

I am trying several console options without success.

With SPICE or VNC I get issue with virt-viewer saying "Unable to connect to
libvirt with URI [none]'

With noVNC I get a separate tab on browser where it is stuck showing
"loading".

Has anyone success with this kind of remote console access?

Thanx,

2017-10-05 Thread Michael Watters
I actually reran the ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup tool and was
able to login and complete a search successfully but doing the same
thing in the engine UI fails.

Here's the configuration from the .properties file.

include =

vars.domain = example.com
vars.user = ldapu...@example.com
vars.password = password

pool.default.auth.simple.bindDN = ${global:vars.user}
pool.default.auth.simple.password = ${global:vars.password}
pool.default.serverset.type = srvrecord
pool.default.serverset.srvrecord.domain = ${global:vars.domain}
pool.default.ssl.startTLS = true

engine logs show this error.  Is this a bug?  I don't remember entering
a trailing space anywhere during setup.

Not that I know. As a nice integrated feature, oVirt is rather crappy
at that :) Getting IOPS and bandwidth would, I guess, require you to
install like collectd and send to a graphite or such server, or
simpler, just install e.g. bwm-ng on a host to get a quick snapshot.

4.1 and above install collectd already. You need to configure it to send
metrics to yor graphite.

[ovirt-users] Unable to grant permissions to AD users

2017-10-05 Thread Michael Watters
I'm having some issues granting permissions to AD users in ovirt-engine
4.1. Users can log in but receive an error as below.

The user u...@example.com@example.com is not authorized to perform login

I am also not able to grant this user any permissions through the admin
console. Entering a user name in the search field for the System
Permissions section results in a blank list. Attached is a screenshot
for reference.

Does anybody have an idea on what would cause this? The log files
aren't very useful and don't show any errors.

vdsm-tool disables lvmetad in the local lvm config (/etc/lvm/lvmlocal.conf)
which is owned now by vdsm, similar to the way multipath configuration is
managed by vdsm.

But this was added in 4.0.7.

You should upgrade to 4.1, including many other features and fixes.

[ovirt-users] Issues with Windows 7 VM

2017-10-05 Thread Marc Turner
Hello,

I'm a Systems Administrator at Wolfram Research, and we've been having an issue
with a Windows 7 x64 VM. This is a new VM with a newly created Cinder VM image
attached to it, which was working without issue last week. Earlier today I
performed a Windows update and shutdown the VM. When trying to start it back
up, it does nothing but fail with the message "Failed to start VM on host. We
have several VM hosts set up, so it will bounce around between a few of them,
failing each time before giving up entirely.

Myself and another SysAdmin have looked through the logs and have not been able
to find any reason as to why this VM won't start. No other VM's are having
problems, and Cinder is working correctly. If you would have any idea as to
why this is happening, or where we could look to figure out what may be going
on, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Guillaume!

Welcome to the oVirt community! I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.

The node project [1] isn't really intended to be used as a stand-alone
product. It's purpose is to provide a minimal host environment that's
managed by the oVirt engine, which is the heart of the oVirt project. I
recommend looking at the deployment options documentation [2] and the quick

[ovirt-users] VM-Clone issue

2017-10-05 Thread Shamam Amir
Dear All,
We are using oVirt release *Version 4.1.5.2. *I was trying to make a clone
of a VM but I got the following message* "*Error while executing action

the vm's edit section, this error occurs, but when the vm is configured
without cloud init, the clone was completed successfully. I wondered if
this is a bug or something else?

As gluster needs to copy each 'write' operation twice and it waits for
actual completion of every op, your write iops will be limited by the
slowest drive.

But it will be relaxed for the arbiter node, as arbiter keeps no data,
therefore no writes* happens on it, so it doesn't impacts overall
performance

* There are actually some metadata updates on the arbiter node, which are,
obviously, write operations, but we can neglect them.

It seems on ovirt node the man pages are missing, probably to cut off
installation base.. ;-)
Anyway I would check installing the ordinary rpm package on a base CentOS 7
system.
In the mean time I have checked the STDIN PARAMETERS section of fence_ilo4
man page for a CentOS 6.7 clustersuite server I have at hand, thanks. I
think it should be similar

Perfect: it works.
Assigned the three privileges to the fenceuser user and now the
corresponding command line works

# fence_ilo4 -a ilo_ip -l fenceuser -L operator -S
/usr/local/bin/my_fence_script.sh -o status
Status: ON
#

And also from gui the test is ok using ilo4 type and
"privlvl=operator,inet4_only=1" option

BTW: for the fence_ilo_ssh agent it is enough to have only the "Virtual
power and reset" privilege for the dedicated user (at least to get the
status of the blade)

Yes, we just pass the parameters to fence agent and if it don't complain
about unknown parameter, we have no way how to present that to a user.

Yes, according to our knowledge ilo4 should be used for all new HP servers
(and also ilo4 agent has most of default parameters, so if you don't have
some special configuration on your server you should be fine.

If you are using admin user, then the default should be fine. If you are
want to create a special user just for oVirt PM operations then following
permissions needs to be assigned to user within iLO4 configuration:

  Virtual power and reset
  Remote Console Access
  Virtual Media

And you need to add following into Options for the host PM settings:

  privlvl=operator

Also these blades are BL460c Gen9

I'm not the admin of fw of blades, but I can see that the blades have
version 2.53 for firmware and version 1.0.9 for their power mgmt controller.
And the enclosures have fw with version 4.60
Did you create a special user for the iLO fencing of the servers (in my
case fenceuser)? If so, which kind of privileges did you assign to this
user?

I also see that the IPMI settings seem ok:
IPMI/DCMI over LAN Access is enabled
IPMI/DCMI over LAN Port is the default 623 one

but

fence_ilo4 -a ilo_ip -l fenceuser -S /usr/local/bin/my_fence_script.sh -o
status
Failed: Unable to obtain correct plug status or plug is not available

Even if I try -4 and/or -P and/or -L operator and/or -A password
I get the same error

Not that I know. As a nice integrated feature, oVirt is rather crappy
at that :) Getting IOPS and bandwidth would, I guess, require you to
install like collectd and send to a graphite or such server, or
simpler, just install e.g. bwm-ng on a host to get a quick snapshot.

Re: [ovirt-users] LVM structure

2017-10-05 Thread Nicolas Ecarnot

Hi Adam,

Le 04/10/2017 à 16:48, Adam Litke a écrit :
Sure.  vdsm-tool should be disabling lvmetad on the host automatically.
Maybe some of the hosts were fresh installed and others have been
upgraded from older versions?  In any case, you should be able to run on
any host in maintenance mode:

     sudo vdsm-tool configure --force

And this should edit the lvm.conf file to disable lvmetad globally and
also prevent the lvmetad service from starting.

Sorry, but nope.

# vdsm-tool configure --force

Checking configuration status...

Current revision of multipath.conf detected, preserving
libvirt is already configured for vdsm
SUCCESS: ssl configured to true. No conflicts

Running configure...
Reconfiguration of sebool is done.
Reconfiguration of libvirt is done.

Done configuring modules to VDSM.

# grep use_lvmetad /etc/lvm/lvm.conf |grep -v '#'
use_lvmetad = 1

Actually, as you found a workaround, it's not a big deal, especially if
this point has been fixed in version greater than 3.6.7.

It's just to let people know.

Re: [ovirt-users] IOPS stats/reports from all hosts to storage

2017-10-05 Thread Neil
Haha it is rather crappy.

It was very cheap in comparison to Dell's and HP's etc at the time, and
it's over 6 years old now so it's done quite well considering the price.

The brand is Cipherwave which I think is a rebrand of some other brand,
very basic GUI and features.

So is there no way to get data domain IOPS from the oVirt side?

Thanks!

[ovirt-users] Configuring ilo4 on hp blade gen 9

2017-10-05 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
on 4.1.6 I'm configuring fencing on HP blades Gen9.
It seems I'm able to use ilo_ssh as agent and that I have only to set 22 as
the port and ssh=1 in options

Question: why ssh=1??? the agent is named ilo_ssh shouldn't be
obvious???
The same form command line I MUST set -x even if I use fence_ilo_ssh command

Nevertheless, this way I get successful test

Sometimes I don't get the same result if I run from shell eg:

fence_ilo_ssh -a ilo_ip -l fenceuser -S /usr/local/bin/my_fence_script.sh
-x -o status

I get sometimes:
Unable to connect/login to fencing device

I think it could be some sort of delay timeout.
In fence_ilo_ssh I see these kinds of timeouts in help

--power-timeout=[seconds] Test X seconds for status change after
ON/OFF
--shell-timeout=[seconds] Wait X seconds for cmd prompt after
issuing command
--login-timeout=[seconds] Wait X seconds for cmd prompt after login
   --power-wait=[seconds] Wait X seconds after issuing ON/OFF
--delay=[seconds] Wait X seconds before fencing is started

How do they map with gui settings options in case I would use some of them?

Also, how do I map the command line option

-4, --inet4-only

Perhaps inet4_only=1 ?

I see that

ssh=1,inet4_only=1
works

but also
ssh=1,inet4_only=1,foo=1
works

So it is not a reliable test to verify syntax...

All in all do you think it is the best agent for ilo4 based blades?
I have made some test with fence_ilo4 but unable to get success... what
should I enable on ilo web administration page in this case, if you think
the agent would be better for any reason?

Thanks,
Gianluca

Re: [ovirt-users] IOPS stats/reports from all hosts to storage

2017-10-05 Thread Neil
Hi Karli,

I was hoping that too, but it seems the SAN doesn't have these features.

There is only the 4 oVirt hosts connected to it via 8GB FC.

I see oVirt has Storage QOS, but how do we set Storage QOS without knowing
the maximum storage limits? Perhaps I'm misunderstood this...

Thanks.

Regards.

Neil Wilson.

Just a thought but, isn´t there any way of getting these numbers from
the storage instead of looking at it from the virtualization? Are there
_a lot_ of other systems connected to it?

[ovirt-users] IOPS stats/reports from all hosts to storage

2017-10-05 Thread Neil
Hi guys,

I'm running FC storage with 4 hosts on oVirt 3.6 and we've been having some
IOPS issues recently and the SAN provider has asked me to provide them with
the following info...

Datastore Stripe Size
Default VM Disk Stripe Size
Average IO Size
Average THROUGHPUT (MB/s)
Average IOPS
Maximum IOPS
Read/Write Percentage of IO
Datastore Average Latency
VM Disk Average Latency

All of this is from across all hosts and VM's to the storage domain. Is
there any way to get this kind of info from oVirt? I've been looking at
oVirt-reports but I don't see much as far as IO/throughput reporting goes.

Apologies if I've missed something obvious.

Thanks.

Regards.

Neil Wilson.
