Thanks.
Is there any consumable iso for ovirt node I can use to try and give

Rebooted the hosted engine VM

Migration now works

Guess that's needed after changing cluster CPU type

[ovirt-users] Re: Update disk alias by using ovirtsdk4

2018-08-23 Thread branimirp
Hi Fred!

Thank you very much for your help! It is working!

I only added the following (as suggested in
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.2/pdf/python_sdk_guide/Red_Hat_Virtualization-4.2-Python_SDK_Guide-en-US.pdf;
 page 12) in order to wait for a vm to go from "image locked" to "down" state.

vm_service = vms_service.vm_service(vm.id)

while True:
time.sleep(5)
vm_s = vm_service.get()
if vm_s.status == types.VmStatus.DOWN:
break

Thank you once more!

Regards,

Branimir

[ovirt-users] Re: losing ib0 connection after activating host

2018-08-23 Thread Douglas Duckworth
Hi Dominik

Yes, the network-script was created by our Ansible role that deploys CentOS
hosts. It pulls the IP from DNS then templates the script and copies to
host.

I will try this oVirt step then see if it works!

[ovirt-users] Re: losing ib0 connection after activating host

2018-08-23 Thread Dominik Holler
Is ifcfg-ib0 created before adding the host?
Can ib0 be reconfigured using engine, e.g. by
"Compute > Hosts > hostx > Network Interfaces > Setup Host Networks"?
If this some kind of self-hosted engine?

I'm just trying it, after reverting to snapshot of my VM that should work
as single host HCI node.
So now no gluster configuration in place and second disk free to be
configured by gui.
I select now the right box of Hosted Engine Setup page, the one with
"
Hyperconverged
Configure gluster storage and oVirt hosted engine
"
Then select "Start" button.
In the new page I put the ip of second network adapter of host1 that I plan
to use for gluster storage, but then I receive these warnings about host2
and host3, so that I cannot go ahead...

Simone,

For single node hyperconverged, are you saying we can do the setup 100% from
the Cockpit gui without the gdeploy config file??

Can you provide the content of the table "storage_domains" from the

Would you please share the vdsm.log and the supervdsm.log from this

[ovirt-users] Re: Update disk alias by using ovirtsdk4

2018-08-23 Thread Fred Rolland
Try to update the DiskAttachment:

vm = vms_service.list(search='name=NFSVM')[0]
disk_attachments_service = vms_service.vm_service(vm.id
).disk_attachments_service()

#here I take the first one, works because I have only one disk
disk_attachment = disk_attachments_service.list()[0]

disk_attachment_service = disk_attachments_service.attachment_service(
disk_attachment.id)

disk_attachment_service.update(
types.DiskAttachment(
disk=types.Disk(
name='NewDiskName',
),
),
)

Yes, as expected with the new flow.
Theoretically you can just end with a single SD for hosted-engine and
regular VMs but keep them distinct is highly recommended for
maitenability.

Yes, in that case hosted-engine-setup will be aware of the hyperconverged
configuration and it will automatically configure the cluster for the
gluster server adding also the two additional hosts.

Thanks for your time, Simone.
The installation went ok until the problem below due to my engine gluster
volume too small (I set up 60Gb for it and it didn't fit for some MBs..). I
got:

[ INFO ] TASK [Check storage domain free space]
[ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Error:
the target storage domain contains only 59.0GiB of available space while a
minimum of 60.0GiB is required If you wish to use the current target
storage domain by extending it, make sure it contains nothing before adding
it."}

Then I scratched (it is a small nested test and so I simply discarded the
changes) and updated gdeploy.conf to accomodate 65Gb for the engine gluster
volume and all went pretty smooth then.
I also noticed that the engine VM and its storage domain is already visible
in web admin portal, so there is no immediate need to add another data
domain and get hosted engine imported as before, correct?

I'm up and running and I'm going to scratch again and test your suggestion
to bypass also the gdeploy.conf step and go all with gui.
In fact I notice that when configuring storage there is a note saying
"
Please note that only replica 1 and replica 3 volumes are supported.
"

.. I'll let you know if it goes ok the all gui setup.

In the mean time one further question: it seems that the cluster configured
has not the "gluster service" checkbox enabled, so I think it is for that
reason that I don't see any gluster related configuration information
inside the web admin portal
Is this expected with this approach?
Is something different expected when trying instead the full gui approach?
Will the web admin portal aware of the gluster config in that case?

Also because a further step I would like to try is to extend this initial
setup to a 3-node based gluster one...

Thanks again,
Gianluca

[ovirt-users] Fwd: ovirt api vm snapshot cloning error

2018-08-23 Thread Avihai Efrat
Hi Peter,

Would you mind reporting a bug on this issue you saw?
To me, it looks like sync/timing issue between snapshot state('OK) and
disk state('Locked').

Can you also please check if the disk that is reported as locked is indeed
locked at the time the error is reported?
Please add this info to the bug and all relevant scripts.

As a workaround, please consider adding an additional wait for all the VM
disks to also reach 'OK' state.

Thanks,
Avihai

To: users

Hi,

I'm trying to solve an issue described in
https://github.com/openbacchus/bacchus/issues/30.

Short description is
- - create snapshot
- - wait until the snapshot is OK
- - clone snapshot
- - got error: Fault reason is "Operation Failed". Fault detail is
"[Cannot add VM: The following disks are locked: ditlcm01_Disk1.
Please try again in a few minutes.]". HTTP response code is 409

To simulate the error I have combined the exampe scripts
- -
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk/blob/master/sdk/examples/clone
_vm_from_snapshot.py
- -
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk/blob/master/sdk/examples/add_v
m_snapshot.py

The full code is here: https://tools.apps.hudecof.net/paste/view/0319f4f
1

This code was working on 4.2.3 version. I skipped the 4.2.4, but n
4.2.5 is broken.

Any clue what's wrong?

regards
Peter

[ovirt-users] Re: ovirt api vm snapshot cloning error

2018-08-23 Thread Avihai Efrat
Hi Peter,

Would you mind reporting a bug on this issue you saw?
To me, it looks like sync/timing issue between snapshot state('OK) and
disk state('Locked').

Can you also please check if the disk that is reported as locked is indeed
locked at the time the error is reported?
Please add this info to the bug and all relevant scripts.

As a workaround, please consider adding an additional wait for all the VM
disks to also reach 'OK' state.

Thanks,
Avihai

[ovirt-users] Re: HostedEngine cannot migrate to added hosts

2018-08-23 Thread Simone Tiraboschi
Hi,
It seams that the configuration volume on your env is empty.

Can you please report the output of
  . /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf
  sudo -u vdsm dd
if=/var/run/vdsm/storage/${sdUUID}/${conf_image_UUID}/${conf_volume_UUID}
bs=20480 count=1  | tar -xOv hosted-engine.conf
executed on the first host?

Was the deployment successful till the end on the first host?
