The question is: Did you connect to already running virtual machines? Or to new ones? I had one VM running. I applied your hint, with a restart of ovirt engine. I VNC-reconnected to the VM : old locale I'm not sure, but I think I rebooted to VM : old locale I rebooted the manager, then vnc-reconnected to the VM : new locale I think that you cannot change locales on already running virtual machines. Indeed. If they were new ones I ask myself if apart from restarting ovirt-engine one needs to logout and login again to the manager. Although I wouldn't bet on that. I'm sorry I'm not precise enough, but I'm also pretty sure I disconnected from the web gui, with no benefit. Anyone else have some thoughts on this? Hi Adrian, I followed your hints, but though your command line did return no error, I was forced in the end to reboot the manager in order VNC to respect the locales. I precise I've made amounts of other tests and actions before that and none was helpful. Hi Itamar, On Sun, Jan 13, 2013 at 01:05:20AM +0200, Itamar Heim wrote: actually, changing a config requires engine restart thanks for the hint, sounds logical to me. Re: [Users] Change locale for VNC console
As Itamar once explained to me (I had the same problem): you can change the vnc keyboard layout via the config tool (VncKeyboardLayout option) globally. still missing as a per vm option (though you can easily do this via a hook if you need it per vm) Alex 2013/1/3 Frank Wall fw...@inotronic.de: Hi, when using oVirt 3.1 the locale for all VNC consoles defaults to en_US. This is OK if the user is using the same locale. But with any other locale on the client side (fr_FR, de_DE), the keyboard is really scrambled. As a result the VNC console is somewhat useless for an affected user. So my questions are... 1. How do I change the locale for VNC, either globally or for each VM? 2. Will there be an REST API call to configure the locale of the console?
