Re: [Users] Problems with snapshots

Thanks Itamar,

The thing is that export doesn't copy the direct lun. About snapshots,
can it be done if the lun has lvm? I used to make a sort of live backup
using lvm snapshots with this luns, maybe this can be done within ovirt
in a future version.

Another thing is that it looks like you had the vm started from a disk
in the data storage, mine are from direct lun.

Anyway, I'm trying to make backup from the vms by cloning the vms and
exporting them, but even exporting a shut down vm does not copy the
 disk.
Is exporting of a direct lun possible with ovirt?

so as explained, snapshot are currently not supported for shared disks
 and for direct lun disks.
export of direct lun disk should work though.
 allon?

Hi Juan,
When you a snapshot- the snapshot is being taken for image disks -
lun/shareable disks aren't part of the snapshot.

Hi Liron,

Thanks for the reply. If I get what you said, when I take a snapshot of a
vm, disk don't get copied, am I right? The system disk of the vm is not
shared, is dedicated to that vm and in the engine is not declared as
shared. How can I backup a live vm if it's not by a snapshot,?
