[ovirt-users] Import ova Thin provisioned disk conversion to pre allocated disks fails

2022-03-10 Thread simon
Hi All,

During the ova import process, preallocated disk policy is selected and the VM
is imported successfully.
Unfortunately the disks remain as Thin Provisioned - is this a known bug and is
there a workaround?

Kind Regards

Simon...

[ovirt-users] Import OVA problem

2021-08-29 Thread Dominique D
I have tried exporting 4 VMs (2 centos and 2 Windows) to an nfs mount (export
OVA) and importing from ova and I can't see all the files.

Here are the files in the directory

-rw---+ 1 root root 10739331584 Aug 29 10:27 linux2.ova
-rw---+ 1 root root 1784370176 Aug 28 12:00 linuxtest.ova
-rw---+ 1 root root 64434655232 Aug 28 13:57 vdiw10-2004v1C.ova
-rw---+ 1 vdsm kvm 49040712192 Aug 27 17:21 vdiw10rg06.ova

The only file I see in virtual machine on source is linuxtest.ova and
linux2.ova. Do you know why ?

[ovirt-users] Import OVA Error - HE version Version 4.3.5.4-1.el7

2019-10-14 Thread paul . christian . suba
Hi,

We have 2 oVirt Lab environments. Trying to copy the VM templates or OVA files
to Lab2 from Lab1.
I have copied the ovas in the NFS share of LAB1 to the NFS ISO Domain of Lab2.

The NFS ISO Domain of Lab2 can be seen mounted on all hosts via df -h.

If I do a template import with OVA as source and the
/rhev/data-center/mnt/XX_XX defined path of the ISP domain, I either get
nothing or an error.
I get nothing if I do not include the file name.
If i include the file name, i get "Uncaught exception occurred. Please try
reloading the page. Details: (TYpeError): Cannot read property 'ob' of null.
Please have your administrator check the UI logs"

I created an NFS ExportDomain in lab2. Copied the files again from the NFS
appliance. Did a repeat of the steps, but selected export domain.
Same results.

Hi,
I am trying to import a windows OVA file. Ovirt engine is up and

domain. Is there any documentation that can be looked at to achieve this.

This is a KVM native OVA. Other than pulling apart the archive and importing

Re: [ovirt-users] Import OVA

2017-04-25 Thread Arik Hadas
If that's a VMware-compatible OVA then a better approach (the approach that
was previously proposed requires you to convert the vmdk disks separately)
would be to copy the OVA file to one of the hosts managed by oVirt, change
its permissions to vdsm:kvm, and import it using the import dialog in the
virtual machines tab.

I can suggest waiting for 4.1 for this as we are adding download ability as
well.
This will allow you at first to backup and restore base images and later on
in 4.1.z uploading and downloading snapshots.

I believe that both full and granular restore can be done via the API as we
support offset uploads, can you give more details on the different between
these options?

Re: [ovirt-users] Import OVA or OVF file from other oVirt - oVirt 4.x

2016-11-30 Thread Victor Jose Acosta
Thanks Yaniv, i read about image io streaming after send that email, i
will use it for my project.

I will explain to you what I'm trying to do:

- I'm creating a software to make full backup and restore of VMs using
python and the backup/restore api

- The main difference is, i want to have the option to make a full
restore or granular restore.

- The backup process is:

- Create snapshot off the vm

- Mount snapshot disk to a "backup vm"

- Identify device name of that disk, this means "/dev/vdc" and so on.

- Create a qcow2 image from disk

- Get vm configuration in a xml file

- Create a compressed file from both files

- Detach disk from backup vm

- Delete the snapshot

- The full recovery process is:

- Upload the qcow2 files throw image io api

- Create a new vm based on the xml file

- The granular recover process is:

- Mount the qcow2 image to as a loop device

- Copy files

I will create a kind of new format, this "new format" will be a .tgz
file with:

- qcow2 images, ordered by number, example:

- 00-vm.qcow2

- 01-vm.qcow2

- the vm xml file

I working on this a few days ago, so if you are interested it will be a
pleasure to me provide a solution to the community.

I will share this project when it's works at least the full
backup/restore function

I love oVirt but the my main problem is create backup and share those
VMs between DataCenters

So i decided to create a software to make oVirt even more powerful

Until this is done we will not be removing the export domain.

After uploading the OVA file with image-uploader to the export domain, go
to "Storage" tab, click on the export domain and then click on "Template
Import" tab below, look for your template image and then click on Import.
After this you should be able to see the template under the "Template" tab.

You can upload the OVA file to export domain with the image-uploader
[1]. Then import the template from the domain itself and create a VM
with that template.

What do you mean with from a server?
You can use virt-v2v integration to extract your VM for other hyper-visor
and convert to oVirt:
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSss__Nl5rU

Or you can simply use engine-image-uploader
if your image is already ready for oVirt.
