The SOGo-Demo you see on the Website is the SOGOo Webmail Client.
This client is something completely different from Thunderbird/Lightning
-- it just is made to *look like* Thunderbird.

This web client is written in ObjC + AJAX + HTML/CSS etc.

There is no Thunderbird behind this SOGo web client and it is not
ported/customized/anything else. It just looks like it to make it easier
to use.

Hi Heather,

to complete all the other answers (and correct me if I’m wrong), the web
interface is mainly inspired from Thunderbird but it’s only a design and
functional choice. It’s not running any Thunderbird’s code. You can/should read
more about it on their website : http://www.sogo.nu/about/technology.html

They have a plugin to enhance Thunderbird’s features with an additional shared
address book and a shared calendar (using Lightning). This is called SOGo
Connector or Integrator, more here : http://www.sogo.nu/about/overview.html

 interface,

Not sure what you mean.

SOGo is a SERVER system. It does provide a webmail interface (which is a
client of sorts), but that is it. I believe it is written primarily in AJAX.

Thunderbird has nothing to do with SOGo, beyond the fact that the SOGo
devs chose Thunderbird as their primarily *supported* email client.

If you want to learn about Thunderbird development, you'll need to join
and ask these question the the thunderbird dev list...
