[vchkpw] .Qmail files

2006-05-09 Thread Roy Wills
I am running dspam and am currently calling it from the .qmail-default file
for each domain. Is there a way to modify the .qmail-default file when
adding/modify a domain to add my dspam line to these files? If this is
possible is there a way that I can add that line to ALL .qmail files that
get created (in case they set a forward which then uses their own .qmail
file and not the .qmail-default)?

Thanks in advance!

Based on that, and the fact that you're seeing similar behavior in
non-vpopmail domains, I'd say it's a problem with your qmail install.
qmail-local is responsible for handling the delivery lines in the
.qmail-frederick file.

Try a fresh install of netqmail, possibly following Bill Shupp's
excellent toaster at http://shupp.org/toaster/.

 Hi,
I'll appreciate any pointers regarding my problem. Searching the archives of
this list, and Googling, haven't helped. If all you do
is point me to better search terms, I'll be happy :-)

Summary: It appears that .qmail-* files are not being processed. I have
.qmail files with | preline /path/to/program and
[EMAIL PROTECTED] in them. Apparently neither is processed.

This problem arose after vpopmail was installed. And, I have another server
without vpopmail on it, where I do not have this
 problem.

I have also sent this to the qmail list.

Email to the following addresses (details follow) apparently vaporizes:
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

In fact, email to any address which should be handled by a .qmail file
apparently vaporizes. At least, I can't figure out what is
happening to it. Email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] added by vadddomain and vadduser
get delivered fine. But, I need to have addresses where
email is forwarded based on a .qmail file, or sent to a program based on a
 .qmail file.

 Details:
It does not matter where the .qmail file is located. Some examples:
 /home/vpopmail/domains/naxum.com/.qmail-frederick
 /var/rep/data/backoffice.gonewnetmail.com/qmailalias/.qmail-achievers
 /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-fred

Each of the above .qmail files contains [EMAIL PROTECTED] on a single
line, nothing else in the file.

Each of the above files, and the directory they are in, are owned,
 respectively, by:
 vpopmail:vchkpw
 gonewnetmail:mailgroup
 root:qmail

with permissions of -rw--- for files, and drwxr-sr-x for the directories.

 In control/virtualdomains:
 naxum.com:naxum.com
 fredandfaye.com:fredandfaye.com
 gonewnetmail.com:gonewnetmail
 nxmserver.com:alias

 In users/assign
 +naxum.com-:naxum.com:89:89:/home/vpopmail/domains/naxum.com:-::
 +fredandfaye.com-:fredandfaye.com:89:89:/home/vpopmail/domains/fredandfaye.com:-::
 .

Notes on the domains and users:
 naxum.com is handled by vpopmail
[EMAIL PROTECTED] has NOT been created with vadduser.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] has been created with vadduser, and email to [EMAIL
 PROTECTED] is delivered fine
The path for .qmail-achievers is the home directory of the user gonewnetmail
gonewnetmail.com is not handled by vpopmail
nxmserver.com is not handled by vpopmail

RE: [vchkpw] .qmail- files not processed

2005-10-31 Thread Fred McIntyre

who owns the .qmail file? do u use mysql as backend? there is not enough info
 in your email.

 Remo

Remo,
I do not use mysql. Please let me know what other info you need.

As noted in my original email, regarding the .qmail files:

It does not matter where the .qmail file is located. Some examples:
  /home/vpopmail/domains/naxum.com/.qmail-frederick
  /var/rep/data/backoffice.gonewnetmail.com/qmailalias/.qmail-achievers
  /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-fred

Each of the above .qmail files contains [EMAIL PROTECTED] on a single
line, nothing else in the file.

Each of the above files, and the directory they are in, are owned,
  respectively, by:
  vpopmail:vchkpw
  gonewnetmail:mailgroup
  root:qmail

The only domain that is handled by vpopmail, for the examples above, is
naxum.com. So let's deal with just that one.

I have added naxum.com to the vpopmail with vadddomain.

vpopmail put naxum.com:naxum.com into virtualdomains, and the relevant entry
into users/assign. Email to users added with vadduser
are delivered properly.

It is my understanding that any .qmail files, matching the user name in an
incoming email, in /home/vpopmail/domains/naxum.com will
be used before the delivery instructions in .qmail-default. That is what is NOT
happening.

Here is a dir listing of /home/vpopmail/domains/naxum.com
drwx-- 10 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 Oct 30 17:17 .
drwx--7 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 Oct 24 22:24 ..
-rw-r--r--1 vpopmail vchkpw 34 Oct 22 15:18 .dir-control
drwx--3 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 May 28 08:47 fred
drwx--3 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 May 28 08:46 postmaster
-rw---1 vpopmail vchkpw 55 May 28 08:46 .qmail-default
-rw---1 vpopmail vchkpw 21 Oct 30 17:17 .qmail-frederick
-rw---1 vpopmail vchkpw843 Oct 20 11:07 vpasswd
-rw---1 vpopmail vchkpw 3067 Oct 20 11:07 vpasswd.cdb
-rw---1 vpopmail vchkpw 0 Oct 20 11:07 .vpasswd.lock

Email sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] is fine. Email sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] seems
to vaporize. The file .qmail-frederick contains the
single line [EMAIL PROTECTED] (without the double quotes) which, based on my
understanding, means that email to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] should be forwarded to [EMAIL PROTECTED] That does not happen.

The file .qmail-default contains the single line |
/home/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox (without the double
quotes).

Please let me know what other information will help you help me.

Thanks,
Fred

[vchkpw] .qmail files for addresses with periods

2003-12-16 Thread Joe Cooke

This one's an easy one but I need to take care of
it fairly quickly.

I've got vpopmail 5.2.1 configured for my domain
without a problem and have all of my nonexistent users forward into a catchall
maildir. There are a couple addresses that I would like to immediately
bounce due to them being targeted / previously used. One of these contains
a period in the name, such as:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have a .qmail file created for [EMAIL PROTECTED] that is named ..qmail-foo.
I also created .qmail-foo.bar which also should bounce the mail back. The
problem is, is that qmail/vpopmail isn't detecting it for some reason and the
mail is being delivered into the main "catchall".

Something I'm doing wrong, or is there a special
way to handle addresses with periods in the beginning of the
addresses?

Not sure if this will work, but you can try:

Create a pop account for the user you're looking to bounce
mail for, then in that users directory, create a .qmail file with:

| /path/to/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox

May not be thebest way, but it may work..

Good point there. That's probably the fastest
solution right now, but there should be a "cleaner" way that I'm most likely
missing.

Thanks!

Replace the period with a : and you're set.

.qmail-foo:bar

Use a single comment # to blackhole the email.
Bounce it with a single line like this:

|/var/qmail/bin/bouncesaying 'Invalid account'

By the way, vpopmail 5.2.2 includes lots of bug fixes over 5.2.1. We're also close to releasing a stable 5.4.0.

And where exactly is your problem? What error messages you get? What's
the name of .qmail file you're using? What's its content? Why do you
think this is a vpopmail issue, and no QMail issue (which would belong
to a very different group)?

No. He shouldn't. This is stupid stuff.

The first line whould (and will) work, the second one is pure nonsense.

Please read the qmail manuals before posting such absolutely wrong
advises.

2002-10-04 Thread Pereira Carlos

There s no stupid stuff there guy.
The advise i ve posted was correct !!

The only problem is that i used a html format to send the message and
that s why you get this :

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sorry for making you react so badly This is just due to html !!!

So he should put :

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

In is .qmail file. That works perfectly.
