I agree - that film is incredible. But so is the film of yours (on a similar theme) that I found via Croma's twitter stream just today: http://xi-vlog.loiez.org/2007/02/shame.php Which he says has been selected for the Festival of Cine in Colombia. Congratulations! And I loved reading your enthusiasm for this group. I feel the same - too often I read people knocking it, but it's my life so massively. I've met more good people online and in person via this list than via anything else, ever. You should throw that on Vimeo. They call that type of video a Lip-Dub, and have a bunch of them already: http://www.vimeo.com/videos/search:lip%20dub Bill Cammack http://billcammack.com --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, "Mike Moon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > With the help of Linkin Park's "Faint", I threw together this little > video. > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVl_OuaLzV0 > > Original post and better video available here... > http://mikemoon.net/vlog/2008/06/12/a-vloggers-voice/ > > So what's your latest project? > > Mike > http://vlog.mikemoon.net >

Re: [videoblogging] A Vlogger's Voice
I've put Freetime and Greentime on hold and I'm now working with the Broward County Derby Girls (http://www.bcdg.net) to produce video for their various needs. This will ultimately mean making a video podcast highlighting their bouts, but we're still working out some critical components of that. I've loved the experience, as it's given me an excuse to buy my first pro-grade camera, I'm editing a 2-camera setup, doing more chroma key work for promo materials, etc. Plus, I love roller derby and have watched it since I was a wee young cuss, and I think supporting roller derby is good for gender politics. -- Rhett. http://www.weatherlight.com/freetime http://www.weatherlight.com/greentime Mike Moon wrote: > With the help of Linkin Park's "Faint", I threw together this little > video. > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVl_OuaLzV0 > > Original post and better video available here... > http://mikemoon.net/vlog/2008/06/12/a-vloggers-voice/ > > So what's your latest project? > > Mike > http://vlog.mikemoon.net > > > > > > > Yahoo! [videoblogging] Re: Decline in posts to this group.
I know for me it is a number of factors: Exhaustion from juggling life, school and videoblogging. I hated to put that on the back burner but there are times when you have to call a time out. I'm also writing for BlogHer, the Library Tech blog and my own blog which has unintentionally turned into the YT Music channel with commentary on the weeks events. That will change now that I have a bit more rest and can work out the bugs of my next project. I didn't want to repeat going to places I've been before and recording the same things in a different year. That might change now that the summer events are busting out all over Los Angeles. I was "video blocked". I don't want to produce crappy video but I'm still learning how to make thing look good, better, er acceptable. This is counter to my "just do it" philosophy. I got trapped when I sat down to edit and I couldn't up it to the next level. Should I even bother? Most times I didn't. Truth is some of you put out fabulous videos and most times I just have time to point, shoot, upload. I have ideas that are often inspired by the group and bloggers in general. I'm working on a new group of service videos for some of the issues that have come up concerning Fair Use, Copyright and stuff like that. It is an experiment. I don't know if I can do without it looking like a PowerPoint presentation. Which comes back to content. I would love if we could have more discussions about what the community wants and needs in terms of content, content creation help and how do you get your idea or point across with the tools that you have. Those tools might be process (thinking) workflow, how to write a functional vlogging script or ??? because we've haven't talked about it. I've never left just been lurking. Gena

Hmm I wonder why ot doesn't work for me - ustream works fine. Could it be that I have the VLC plug-in installed? - I've got a feeloing that messes with some windows media.. j At 17:00 2008-06-20, you wrote: >It works for me in FF but can be a bit slow and buggy. > >I got my feed imported but left my firewire cord in Michigan. > >I'd like to do some live analysis of our vids online. Re: [videoblogging] Green Screen political ad controversy
They were in the same room. There was no green screen http://www.vinnysgarage.com/outtakes.html But some of the other ads by the director (who has also done ads for Long John Silver's http://www.vinnysgarage.com/popcorn.html which looks a bit like this Rudy 08 ad http://www.vinnysgarage.com/same.html) are interesting. http://www.vinnysgarage.com This 04 Bush ad is laughable now http://www.vinnysgarage.com/sprucing.html and this ad for Rudy is so wrong http://www.vinnysgarage.com/hostages.html Iran released the hostages when Reagan took office not because they were scared of him, but as a big FU to Jimmy Carter. [videoblogging] Green Screen political ad controversy
There have been some funny ads in the political cycle. In the race to replace the retiring GOP Senator Wayne Allard of Colorado, Bob Schaffer the Republican in the race, put out an ad where he talked about the environment and how much he loves the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The problem was, the video of the Colorado Rockies were actually scenes from Alaska mountains. Of course everyone knows about McCain and the his green screen made popular on the Colbert Report. John McCain gave his big "this is now a two-person race" speech from a New Orleans suburb in front a green backdrop which people have chroma keyed into all sorts of funny videos. But the most recent laugh comes from the Minnesota race for Senate. Sitting first-term GOP Senator Norm Coleman faces comedian, actor, former progressive radio show host Al Frankin in what will be a very expensive, very close Senate race (Coleman is polling under 50 points which is always bad news for an incumbent). The laughs aren't coming from Frankin. The joke is on Sen. Coleman. In this ad, Coleman's wife (who is in real life a lingerie model and inventor of the "blo and go") talks about how great her husband is and ends with her asking him to "take out the trash." The problem is, she might not be in the video. Bloggers are asking if she was dropped in the spot through the magic of editing. Check out Talking Points Memo to see the video and their take on the piece. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/ did_gop_senator_fake_an_ad_sho.php My question is: Is this ethical? Is it ok to do something like this? The wife wanted to be in the spot, they weren't available at the same time, so they edited her in. Is this disingenuous and hypocritical (as the Coleman campaign blasts Frankin for living in NY and not being in MN) or is this just a reality of the digital video age and it's really nothing? -- Norm Coleman's wife: Model: http://tinyurl.com/54j3kp Inventor: http://tinyurl.com/2ln43u [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
