Well then my vlog must surely suck because it is in no way clear in it's
subject, style or
intent. I follow no guidelines. I have no theme. Sometimes my vlog is
goofy, sometimes
it's serious. Sometimes it's about me, sometimes it's not. Whatever grabs
me gets posted.
I'm not sure if I even have an intro other than to say that you never know
what's going to
happen...because you don't. Keywords and tags are cool but they don't say
much about
me. RSS I got. A catagory I don't got.

Life is not necessarily clear in it's subject, style or content. Mine
isn't, anyways.

myspace

I use myspace
and i'm almost 30.

It is excellent way for me to keep in touch with my
younger cousins 27, 25, 21, 18 that live all over Texas.

Also To post Bulletins about Node 101 first friday get togethers,
ART events etc...
with 60+ aquaintences I have met by City/State in the last year
it is easier than me taking to the streets
and handing out flyers, or calling everyone or spaming an email
to my directory.

yeah yeah yeah
the ads blah blah blah!

Everyone works their way in niches.
This Yahoo group itself is a niche,
and in everyones opinion
someone is selling something.
So there's no differeance.

I'm also on livejournal

My opinion and it isnt a popular one.
The term videoblogging has the same merit as a pencil.
I think in terms of descrite mathematics.

Symbols and Orchestras.
Choirs and wires.
Mark making utencils.
I get ahead of myself and document what I can
where I can.

The internet is just another capsule.
Call it whatever, name it whatever,

Some to protect themselves.
Others to promote and project.

yes. bridges.

everyone posting video on youtube, myspace and google believe they are
videoblogging, or will believe that once they discover the word.

everyone pointing a camera at himself and posting the clip on the web
is making a videoblogging.

this group is small relative top what's going on on the mainland.

of course, i could be wrong however methinks the dam opened.

videoblogging has been generalised, the pristine definition is in
jeopardy. or perhaps it's too late, dunno.

RE: [videoblogging] Re: blip.tv having problems?

2006-02-06 Thread juan gonzalez

I just uploaded a 66mb video onto Blip.tv
it took about 10 minutes.
It's Mon 9:55 am.
I tried all week to upload to ourmedia.
I'ld either get an error message or 5 of the 8 times it
uploaded as an XML file.

So blip worked for me today.

What makes this Historic is the product
placement of a real vlog into a fictional #1 TV show via a fictional
 version of that vlog.

Although one could argue perhaps that a fictional version of that
vlog is perhaps not a vlog?

idea of openness and free will, have such strong subjective opinions about
what is worthwhile and what is not worthwhile - often saying that this for
everyone, except those that they dont like or find to be interesting.
Saying things like this is for everyone but some people must be stopped.
This is open and free, but we are the ones who determine that.

I cant even defend myself anymore because it no longer makes since to me
how some people are arriving at their conclusions. It just feels like
empty criticism.

RE: [videoblogging] timestretching video clips

2005-11-30 Thread juan gonzalez

In Final Cut Pro there are two options.
1. Duration
2. Speed

1.The time duration of the clip can be set to specific timecode
numbers...(this one i'm not to positive on actual specifics)
2. The speed of the clip whether it be audio/video together or separate can
be slowed down or speed up forwards/backwards. This is done by percentage.
Ex.I want to make this clip faster. The option is to type in 150% in the
100% box. Maybe you want the clip to run super slower, then it's 25% in the
100% box.

I understand you are looking for specific time lapse at your fingertips.
duration option may be a lead. I'm not one to use it in my habitual
video/audio editing process, So i'm not all that familiar.

Perhaps someone can further explain if not correct me if i'm in the wrong
about option 1.

hi list

long time no see

i was wondering--is there a simple way to do timestretching/time
compression of video clips with a fairly high degree of control.

the 'turtle slider' in imovie has very coarse settings for doing such a
thing. but let's say i wanted to take a 32-second clip and scrunch it down
to exactly 30 seconds without cutting anything out. or maybe stretch it out
to 35 seconds. any ideas?

thanks, philip

Hello fellow vloggers!

I heard the rumor that every one who is doing a video
blog got his own Star Trek uniform. Is that true?

Well in my case it is. And I'm not afraid to show it
in a video.
Check it out at: http://mariosplanet.blogspot.com
It's called Multiple Marios and features 3 other
outfits as well. All this action in only one minute.
As always comments would be highly appreciated.

So what about your uniforms? Did you show them already
or am I the first one? ;-)

It runs thick in my blood to Rebel against the shoulds and coulds.

Wierd, absurd, experimental, intellectually creative, emotionally
destructive documentation, as well as mindboggling retarded/ridiculus PLAY
, are the FUNdeMentals of Why I Vlog or do Art in general. Of coarse DRAW
THE LINE to Where I can do, say, post what ever the heavenly hell I want,
when I want is just part of my arrogant fodder to cross that Barrier. (Kinda
like taking a guitar to War instead of a gun. Not that I have but in my own
Way choose to do the ArtThang and not Murder.) Whether anyone is watching
today, tomarrow or yesterday. I take the future into consideration and all
the other Vlogs and VideoArt of the past/future culture pitree dishes into
Thought. Moreso today when it's in my POWER to choose what to see, hear,
decide my level of involvement. (of coarse there are subconcious levels that
I may not be able to control and that's awesome too I'm all for irrational
thoughts)

Privacy isn't necessarily dead in my opinion I dont believe anything or
anyone is watching me all the time. (hyper extreme trailblazing thought) Yet
I understand the trail left behind in the various forms so if Privacy is
indeed dead... I shrug eh So What? I got nothing to hide, if anything I
want to be found.

I think it's Astonishing that Jay and Ryanne have met through these
sandwiched mediums. Vloging offers that availability to connect, share,
collaborate. Wheter it's wierd, boreing, trucks, fish, botony, cats, kids,
love, etc Behind every Vlog there are individuals, people, companies
and corporations. It's the internet and I see No Hiearchies just like Art.
The only gatekeeper is myselves.

note1
Livejournal isnt crap, like anything else everywhere else It's what the
individual makes it. I tend to make mine inclusive not exclusive. I walk
right by heiarchies, sometimes i stay and take alook around maybe strike up
a conversation, stand in line abit but i always leave that SIDESHOW. In a
sence everything is a sideshow.
so...
I tell everyone I meet about my vlog, myspace, medfilms, livejournal ,and
have to EDIT myself as I live my life just for my own self insecurity. But
that SelfEditing is no different than Whom I am as a Person on the Planet.

note 2
I dont subscribe to all Vlogs nor want to.
I do explore.
I do take time to comment.
I dont necessarily like alot of vlogs but it dosnt mean they should change
to my tastes.
When I was a kid I didnt like onions, spinach nor kale.
Now I love them.
Now I dont like some meats.

Anyway, whatever my vlog is about is constantly being redefined, reimagined,
and readily available to C O M M U N I C A T E.

No I didnt work on Ascanner Darkly,, but I'm so so excited to see it. I saw
Waking Life like 50 times. I interned in 2004 before Ascanner Darkly hit
production. I worked on another project, a trailer for a movie of awesomely
bizzare, absurd, funny situations and fantastical scifi elements. I haven't
heard what came of the project. I assume it got shelved because Ascanner

2005-09-12 Thread juan gonzalez
YEA, I set up an account there and have been testing the 3mb free upload,
they offer more space but at a price.

One is able to challenge the assignment or make your own.

http://www.medicinefilms.com/users/mrmultiple2/

That's my location, although I think medicinefilms site is down I dont know
if it has anything to do with the LOS ANGELES power outages.(cnn)

Anyway it's worth a look.

I've used some of the alternate videos i post there and cross post them into
myspace, livejournal, and blogger and they appear EMBEDDED. ( i like that
feature, untill i learn the code to do it myself)

Downside=3mb, I love to effect and have lenghty video so it tends to crunch
me into a small limitation of TIME/QUALITY...which FLIPSIDES to the upside
of the challenge of content.

I didnt subscribe to the feed cause there is an option of FRIENDS so I
just log in from time to time and catch their videos. Subcribing to the feed
subcribes to over a thousand members that's way to many videos for me to
wade throughi'm picky and selective.

Vlogs are about people first in my opinion not just faceless digital pixels
of obscurity even though I like that too, but those i like to find and not

What are a few of the favorite collaborative vlog projects - and WHERE

(By collaborative video project, I mean where a group of vloggers in

common database of source material, or by adding bit by bit. I know

there have been several...)

where are the best URLs to find these projects -- and to re-enter the

Kyle,
Yeah just to add,
I'm on a Powerbook G4 and DSL.
I had difficulty watching the video.
The first run through it kept freezing up or chopping up in Play.
So I figured I'ld watch it again after it has loaded, but this time it
chopped up and froze in different places, the same with the third time I
attempted to view.
The audio plays fine.
Some of the shots/(frozen stills) look nice and crisp but overall
most of the footage is pixelated freeze jump.

Kyle,

When you say you are a High Def videoblogger, do you mean that you

are broadcasting movies that are 1080i or 720p (ie: either 1920x1080

pixels or 720x480 pixels)?? I'm fascinated with the way this term,

high-definition is getting used (well, or mis-used)... I keep hearing

a radio station in Philadelphia brag about how they are broadcasting in

High-Definition radio and I see these Kodak disposable HD

still-cameras in the drug stores, and I have no idea what either one of

those things is supposed to mean. (Well, other than misleading the

public by using a term most people don't understand technically and

sounding really cool as a marketing ploy. I get that -- but are those

companies really that willing to lie?)

Technically, if you've shrunk your video down to anything less than

720x480 progressive scan or 1920x1080 interlaced, then it's not HD. If

it is that big, then what happens to people with screens that are

smaller than that? (I can't watch your videos, cause I don't have QT7,

and my 2003 computer isn't fast enough anyway).

And I don't mean to be picking you Kyle -- I truly am fascinated with

how the words high-definition are getting used, and what they mean to

people.

that these very people want others with them. I love all of you that
have
gotten me this far...From FREEVLOG, MOMENTSHOWING, VERDI,Rocketboom,
 livejournal, Meefeedia, ANT, Volgdir,Ourmedia, Internet
arch,BLogger,YAHOO,
MSN, fuckin my video camera, my fingers, my parents, friends, life, and
 coffee. HA!

I love when people execute their ideas.

VLOG as a VERB not a NOUN.

That's how i feel about my art, it is a VERB and not a NOUN.

I recently was invloved in an artshow and Someone came up to me and said
they DIDn't like my video. That nothing happens in my videos. That Video
is
a certain way and THIS AND THAT and I said...interesting, NOW SHOW ME.

 SHOW ME.
Talk, and words and brainstorming is all great, I can sit in a think
tank
with the rest of them BUT at the end of the day, Where's the
application.

 show me

Is a vlog limited to the infinite, It will change, I will change. My
environment will change. I'm not saying it's any good, but I am saying
 It's all I got.

I wont add everyones feed and i don't expect anyone to add my feed. I
grew
up playing outside with or without company, I grew up coloring in
coloring
books in corners of rooms alone, I grew up with IMAGINATION. My
imagination,
My ARTWORK has me with my many selves most of my time for most of my
life. I
have spent my entire life as my bestfriend. I subscribed to my own feed.
I
watch my own videos on ANT. I add the feeds that are real, or closest to
real, feeds that feed my imagination, my comprehension, my need to
learn. I also add feeds that are windows into peoples lives, portals
into
their minds, palantirs to places I have never been. Oh sure i have that
feed
with the just messing around, experimenting,I'll add feeds as I go
along, as my tastes change too cause tastebuds do change. I am
selective, I
am silly, I am interested, I am currious, I am deciding my level of
 involvement.

My situation at this time is a transitional one. I have the opportunity
to
do what I want when I want. I have responsibilites and Help from
Parents,
Investors, Patrons. The way it's working out for me is TO SHOW.
I have paintings, drawings, videos, sound, and poetry and VLOG is the
best
way for me to get that across to people anywhere in the INTERNET. My
paintings aren't for sale, I could easily sale them for amounts of money
I
actually NEED but i'm not, I tell them to buy a shirt, or a mug(@ my
STORE)
I've even sent out High Resoulution digital stills so that if they
wanted to
print out posters they can do it themselves. I encourage the people to
use
my work in any fashion they please, I don't want their compensation. I'm
not
saying I don't want money cause I DO and not only some I want alot of
Money.
But I'm not holding out I'm just HOLDING ON. Putting a Volg together
PS
what 5 hours total depending what you are up too Putting a price on
that? A
painting 4 weeks, a month, a year, putting a price on that? Both aren't
so
difficult Just Prop up a number. I have PAYPALL/Store ? and as soon as I
figure out REL-PAyment I'm gonna do itYou'ld be surprised if you
think
noone will throw money at you cause they do.

Waiting tables is a different metaphor but it's the same way Im
providing a
service. I could run around for one table and get 10% or just leave
without
tipping, and give the best Damn service ever, then I could have a couple
come in and have the dude's wife hitting on me while HE is on a buisness
call, they both have coffee, desert, Low maintence and hit me with 20$
over
the check. The same with Art someone wants that 50 X 50 inch painting
for
20$, next person $3,000, where as my good friend or someone I care about
will take it off my hands for free. Somepeople can't commit to haveing
art
in their home so they just want a flyer just a little something, just
a
tidbit, just like people at the restaurant
