Re: [videoblogging] Re: Video Conference Capture...

2007-04-28 Thread Jan McLaughlin
Am very interested in how this thread will go.

The capacity to get high quality images from anywhere in the world via
simple interface would be groundbreaking.

Problem is, every interviewee will have a different quality camera (if any)
available.

Now, if you're willing to ship them a good quality camera with which to
work, a camera that your subject is willing to ship to the next interview
subject, then perhaps you will have consistent quality.

You'll have to walk them through the setup, and be prepared to walk them
though both PC and mac interfaces, but that could work using iChat or Skype.

We would really like to start taking our videoblog to another level,

 Pipe dream?

 Possible with creativity ingenuity?

 Possible with open source software?

I can already do this with audio quite simply with Audio Hijack Pro,

 with video.

Thanks for the reply Bill, sorry for the vagueness of my question.

And once you guys set a regular booking schedule (a-hem - swami's aside), I
shall set a notification to this Yahoogroup to go out 24 and 2 hours in
advance of the videoconference.

Problematic is the fact that Yahoogroups notifications do not translate to
local time zones, but 24 and 2 hours in advance are accurate.

Regularly scheduled conferences allow for automated reminders... They also
allow for folks to get in the 'habit' of attending.

We like automated things. :)

I'm thinking of doing three upcoming Tuesday FlashMeetings from
4pm-7pm PST (7pm-10pm EST). Europe is about 8 hours ahead (give or
take 1-2 hours) so this would allow Europeans who stay up late around
midnight to join. I'll see of the three upcoming Tuesday
FlashMeetings if there's an average when most people are on. If there
is, I'll narrow the meetings following to around 60 to 90 minutes in
length. How does that look?

[videoblogging] Re: Video conference?

2007-01-17 Thread Enric
I'll do the next three upcoming Tuesday FlashMeetings from 4pm-7pm PST
(7pm-10pm EST). This will give Europeans the ability to come in
around midnight. I'll see if there's a pattern to when people are
mostly on and narrow the time to 60-90 minutes based on that. If the
Saturday meeting isn't booked by Friday night, I'll book it for
10am-noon PST (1pm-3pm EST). How does that sound?

couldn't they just be booked and put on the voxmedia wiki like they

You don't have to show up for them. I think they just need to be booked.

Yaay! Someday, I'm going to drop by and appoint myself the official
representative (ambassador?) of Malaysia's vloggers (... not that we

Guess I'm so totally going to contradict my personal principles
about using my own exotic country as a gimmick to draw some cheap
attention. (I used to have some kind of a disdain for
artists/filmmakers/writers etc. who exoticize their own cultures and

But knowing that I'm one of those rare Asians in this mailing list

I'd like to talk about Terms of Service for file servers like Blip and
  YouTube. For example, at Blip:

In accessing the Blip.tv site, you agree that you do so only for your
own personal, non-commercial use. Unless otherwise stated, you may not
distribute, transmit, broadcast, commercially exploit or modify in any
way the sites material or content or permit or assist any third party
  to do the same.

Does this allow me to display my video file from Blip on my own
website which is a commercial site?

Does this allow a third-party commercial site, that has my permission,
to display my vidoe file from Blip?

Well, you get the idea. See you at the video conference.

hey, i just realized - it was a year ago *this week*

i was traveling and i didn't hear about it until april 1 and that was
day 4 if I recall
i found out when i started to catch up
that was the night i started vlogging
i had not joined this list yet
i had to make my first seven vids with only 3 days left
what a blast that was

thanks to freevlog
(remember when freevlog was on blogspot?)

i still think of Charlene's great videos every time I hear that song...

...and Rene's great how-to silkscreen tee shirt videos
(I hope those are on archive.org, because her site has been replaced by
a single photo and all her old links have gone 404)

what a year!!!

My first podcast feed, last year, took weeks to show up and I don't remember

By the way, didn't you just feel like a celeb when you first saw yourself in
