Hi all,

Pragda's FROM THE LAND TO YOUR TABLE offers seven perspectives from seven
Ibero-American filmmakers on the conditions and cultural diversity of popular
produce markets in seven countries - Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia,
Brazil, Venezuela and Spain. Created collectively, each segment retains its own
unique style and tone, and highlights the fascinating stories of the foods that
eventually wind up on our tables.

entertaining and innovative history and deconstruction of milk and American
 culture!

haunting vision of our modern food industry, and the methods and technology
 utilized for mass

Re: [Videolib] documentary films on radical social movements

2014-01-27 Thread Olivia Newman
Hi Matthew (and all),

Pragda has a few of documentaries that make a really valuable contribution to
this subject:

SPAIN IN CRISIS: A COLLECTIVE RESPONSE is a new DVD compilation that we
recently released that looks at the Spanish fiscal crisis with a focus on the
Indignados Movement otherwise known as 15M, which influenced popular
protest movements all over the world including the USA's own Occupy Wall Street.

CRONICA D'UNA MIRADA: CLANDESTINE FILMMAKING IN FRANCO'S SPAIN 196-1975 is an
award-winning six-part documentary series about the little-know history of a
clandestine group of anti-Franco filmmakers who put their art into the service
of a political movement, altering the course of Spanish history.

THE DEATH OF PINOCHET, while not specifically about a particular movement,
captures the reactions of both Pinochetists and leftist Chileans to the death
of Pinochet and illustrates the dictator's ongoing divisive influence on
today's Chile.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or for any further assistance!
Best,
Olivia

Re: [Videolib] Documentaries about Families

2013-11-19 Thread Olivia Newman
Hi Alex,

Pragda's catalog of films offers several titles from Spain and Latin American
that address the sociology of the family including My Grandmother's House, a
remarkably candid documentary on family life in Spain, modernization and
generational change; Southern District (Zona Sur) a drama about a matriarchal
family in one of Bolivia's most affluent neighborhoods dealing with impending
social change and shifting aristocratic privilege; La Isla Interior, a Spanish
drama about three siblings dealing with their father's sudden death; and; Before
Opening Night, a poignant and hilarious portrait of an Argentinian family over
one decisive weekend as they attempt to negotiate their egos with their
marriage and artistic lives.

You can also browse our catalog by the subject category family at
http://pragda.com/films-by-subject/family to find other films that may be of
interest.

Feel free to contact me should you need more info or if I can be of help with
other suggestions.
Best regards,
Olivia

[Videolib] Question re: Short Film Compilations for Educational Use

2013-11-15 Thread Olivia Newman
Hi!

We are currently building our 2014 catalog of new educational films and have
come across numerous short documentaries that we thought might make for an
interesting and valuable compilation. Our thought was we would put together a
compilation of titles addressing timely issues from all over Latin America and
possibly also from Spain/Iberia. We're wondering if university libraries or
faculty have an interest in short docs and specifically this kind of
compilation.

We very much welcome and appreciate your feedback!

Thanks,
Olivia
