At one time sighted friends also sad said they had trouble finding the
accept button. I suggested changing in game Center notifications under
settings the option from banners to alertss. This seemed to help as the
request would remain available to select but with Banners it would disappear.

It took me a long time to figure out the series of steps needed to
select a friend, select the game, send a invitation, start the game and then
 finally play!

sometimes you need to wait a chunk of time for a connection to happen.
sometimes for no reason a game quits telling you your partner left even
 though they did not.

If the tip on alerts doesn't do it perhaps you would like to contact me off
list and we could set up a Skype contact and we could work through the steps
 together.

The game is not perfect and has Somme accessibility issues and some scoring

Now all that is to hear and see on your iPhone, will all be streamd to your

3-GS camera

2012-04-30 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I am quite serious when I ask this question. Since the camera on my
3-GS is only 3 megapixel, what can it be used for? I would like to use
Viswiz, Digit-Eyes, and Look tel recognizer. However, if even under
optimal conditions the camera isn't good enough, there is no point in
putting these apps on my Iphone.

Thanks in advance for responses.

Re: 3-GS camera

2012-04-30 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, I had the 3GS before the 4S and the only thing you have to be sure
of when using these apps is that you have enough light. Other than that,
they work rather well. I have not been successful in using ocr apps such
as Prismo to convert document images to text, but the ones you mention
work very well.

Good luck.

Keyboard questions

2012-04-30 Thread Danielle McCullough
Hi there,

Does anyone know if there is a way to rec-reate, A, the double tap and hold,
and B, the three finger swipe to pull down the notification centre on a
bluetooth keyboard?

Also, does anyone know of any mini bluetooth keyboards that just take normal
replaceable batteries at all?

Any responses would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,

Danielle

Re: Horrible Experience with MLB At Bat

2012-04-30 Thread kb5752
As someone said earlier, this is a streaming thing. My son plays arena
football, and the other night there was so much electrical interference that
I could not hear the radio in the arena. I logged onto the station's web
site and streamed on the iPhone, and, though the sound quality was beyond
great, the delay was a good fifteen seconds or so. thus, the crowd was
cheering, and I had to wait for the 15-second replay. I think this is a
natural function of streaming over the web, but I do wiswh it could be
resolved.

Subject: Horrible Experience with MLB At Bat

Not strictly access related, but I went to a pro ball game yesterday in
Cincinnati. This didn't occur to me beforehand, but when I tuned in the San
Francisco feed, the lag was almost 75 seconds. This was on 3G. They did not
have WIFI in the park.

Okay, I guess there is a lot going on there, so I can't fault the app too
much. So, I switched to the Cincinnati radio broadcast. And, for a baseball
game, they kept the 7-second delay in place. Real smart! What, they don't
trust their broadcasters or sponsors not to say poo-poo on air?

After a play, I waited the 7 seconds for the description, but that was
drowned out by the PA system with the next batter, etc.

Sheesh!

So, if you plan to enjoy a game at a ballpark, you may want to decide just
to enjoy sitting in uncomfortable seats in heat or cold or wet with very
loud people very apt to spill on you. It can be a wonderful experience!

Eric

Re: Moving apps that don't show up on the screen

2012-04-30 Thread David Chittenden
Hello,

You need to start creating folders and moving apps that are visible in to
created folders. As you empty pages, they will disappear and more pages of apps
will appear. There is a limited number of pages in the home screen, so you use
folders to maximise this.

RE: Bluetooth OnOff

I'm afraid Apple pulled it days after it was released. As you
said, they don't want people changing how the user interface
works. Of course, if you've already bought and downloaded the
app, then as long as you sync with iTunes and keep a copy of the
app on your computer, you can reinstall it as needed. No new
people, however, can buy it.

Re: iOS Skype 4.0 is accessible and usable!!!

2012-04-30 Thread Marcy Weinberg
Hello, Kevin and all,

I've found that while on a Skype call on my iPhone 4S, and a regular phone call
comes in, when I decline the call, I can't get back to the original Skype call.

Well, it shows that the call is still active, as the time continues to
increase, but I can't get the person back, and they can't hear me either.

I've tried everything I can think of, but eventually the other person hangs up,
or I have to do so, and call them back again.

I'm wondering if there is a way to get back into the actual conversation, and
if this is happening to others as well.

RE: Bluetooth ear piece for hard of hearing?

2012-04-30 Thread Jerry White
I got a set a couple of years ago, but wasn't smart enough to get the ones
that go behind the ear. Due to some other ear problems (Tubes and such), I
can't wear these anymore. I won't go into the gross details, but suffice it
to say they are not practical anymore.

I said all that to say this, I do not wear hearing aids. I do not want to
drag around ear phones, and all of the bluetooth ear pieces I have tried are
not loud enough. I'm not sure which ones I have tried by number, but they
are all cheap ones that work fine for people with normal hearing.

Please let me know if you have any more questions, and thanks for your help!

Re: Keyboard questions

2012-04-30 Thread Esther
Hi Danielle,

I'll paste in the answer I wrote on the mac-access list last November. Now
that the viphone list has started archiving its posts at the Mail Archive web
pages, future searches for answers to similar questions should be much easier
by going to the Viphone public archive web site, listed in the second line at
the end of each post. This is basically the umbrella Mail Archive web page:
http://www.mail-archive.com/
with the posting address for the mailing list appended in each case. In this
case, all I had to do was go to the web page for the mac-access list, and type
into the search text box:
from:Esther notifications
(without the quotation marks). When I pressed return, the following result
popped up. You won't be able to run such searches for the viphone list yet,
since the only viphone list posts archived there over past three years are the
ones that I cc'ed to the macvisionaries list, but I guarantee this will make
finding previously posted information easier in the future.

I'll add that there is no keyboard shortcut for the double tap and hold pass
through gesture. The way that I think of the reason for this, is that the pass
through gesture indicates that you want to bypass the VoiceOver specific
gestures and use the standard gestures instead. However, keyboard navigation
features are only supported when VoiceOver is turned on. No sighted user who
employs standard touch screen gestures and uses a paired Bluetooth keyboard
can execute any commands except for text editing functions. So until Bluetooth
keyboard navigation commands are supported for sighted users outside of
VoiceOver, no keyboard equivalent shortcut to bypass VoiceOver gestures is
going to work.

Open the notification center with VO-M and then Option-Up arrow. The full
archived post from the Mac-access list Mail Archive pages, which includes links
to sources of keyboard shortcut information, is pasted in below by signature.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

To: Mac OSX iOS Accessibility mac-acc...@mac-access.net

Hi Eric,

To open the notification center with your Bluetooth keyboard, after moving to
the status bar with VO-M use Option+Up arrow, which is the keyboard shortcut
equivalent to the 3 finger flick down to scroll the page. To move to the
button to dismiss notification center use Control+Down arrow.

This is one of the cases where the format of the (older shortcuts) on hllf's
blog site may make it easier to look up shortcuts. He uses the nice table
format that gives action, keystrokes with QuickNav off, keystrokes with
QuickNav on, and equivalent gesture. Daniel's AxS lab pages of shortcuts are
up to date and very nice, but you have to associate terms to find the shortcut.

apps will appear. There is a limited number of pages in the home screen, so
you use folders to maximise this.

My question is not how many app, folders or screens. My question is some
apps does not show up on the phone unless you search for them. Once you
search and find them you can't move it that way. How can you move a app
that is on the phone but not showing up on the 11 pages?

 External Brain,

Does anyone know how to move apps around when you have over 400 of them
and they don't show up on the 11 pages? I was thinking that I could open
them and then they would be in the app chooser but they can't be deleted
from there. How can a move be done when your phone is setup this way?

 Thanks in advance,
