It is too bad you find the standscan such a disappointment. If you only saw the first generation of the produmt, I could understand your response. The first ones were rather flimsy. But, they still worked, but I was very doubtful. Then having seen the new one that is made out of much sturdier cardboard and with stronger magnets, and I don't have the engineering skills to make one, I think it is a very useful, and clever invention. It makes it possible to get near perfect scans every time. This is just my opinion and we are all entitled to an opinion. When a game is done if if you need to leave the game early is there a way to stop it? Last year there was a stop or pause button. I only see play. Done just leaves the app with the broadcast playing. The only way I can stop the broadcast is to close the app and then go to the app switcher and shut the app down in there to stop the broadcast. Anyone know of a way to stop the broadcast quickly? airplay with iPad mini
Hello list It was so long ago that I configured airplay with my iPod touch 4th gen that it seems I am missing something when I try to set it up with the iPad mini. I went to settings, music and home sharing and supplied my email address and apple store password and everything looks ok there but when I play a song the usual airplay button does not appear. There is an unlabeled button that is the play stop button. If you find the word playing, flick left with one finger and you should hear button, double tap and it will toggle between stopped and playing. Checking Out FaceTime In iOS 7.0.6
Hello Alex, I haven't used FaceTime very much, but I wanted to see what happened when I opened the link to it. My contact list opened and I used the table index to scroll down to the one I wanted to use. I tapped on it and right flicked around. I had the choice to make a FaceTime video (but not labeled) or a FaceTime audio call button. I didn't tap on it because it's too early on a Sunday morning. :) HTH. Hi, I bought my Standscan Pro quite some time ago and just got around to setting it up and taking it for a spin last week. I needed sighted assistance to set the thing up, and when we were looking at the instructions, they mentioned an orange section that needed to be folded a certain way. Either my friend was color-blind (a possibility), or there was no orange section. The device isn't exactly sturdy, I'll concede Bill's point there. However, I scanned several pages with Text Grabber and I have to say that the results were very good, possibly comparable with what I'd get from Open Book. Pretty impressive, actually for a $40 stand and software that only cost a few bucks. . Are you using exchange to manage your calendar? If so, This is a fairly common problem with exchange calendars and you may have to live with it. One thing that has sometimes helped me in the past is to delete the exchange account on the iphone and then recreate it. Hi Bill, You certainly are allowed your opinion. I must say I have seen no other negative comments lately. At the very beginning, the cardboard was weak, I must agree but the second batch has been made firmer and, we are told, the magnets are stronger. I must say I got some very good scans with it using Text Grabber. That is something I wasn't good enough to do free hand. Of course, if you can scan and recognize free hand every time, you don't need a cardboard box but, in my case, it works very well. If you consider the time that was invested in having the right measurements, the right way to have the box fold so flat and be able to be put together in seconds, the lights in it, the magnets, the transformer, the cost of advertising the product and a small profit, I don't think the price is exaggerated. For all these reasons, having lost mine in a move, I just ordered another one. hi was wondering if anyone else is having trouble receiveing twitter notifications? I have the native twitter app and tweet list but am not receiveing notifications when I get a mention or dm. everything is turned on in notification centre. any ideas? thanks in advance. ps am getting notifications on the mac but not the 'phone. For sound quality at a good price and portable, I like the JBL flip. I don't like that it doesn't charge by usb though. Renaming Apps
Hi, Here's a weird one for you. I have a folder on one of my home screens called Weather, and inside this folder is the stock weather app that came with the phone and the Radio NOAA app. When I installed Weather Underground, the label attached to it was simply called Weather, and I moved it into the Weather folder that I set up. Frankly, I'm surprised that IOS let me move two apps with the same name into a folder. so, just for the hell of it, I did a two-finger double-tap-and-hold on the new Weather app to re-label it to Weather Underground and the phone let me do that, no problem. Here's where it gets strange. You know how when you open a folder, VoiceOver will say the folder name followed by the words heading text field? For example, when I open the Books folder, Voiceover says books heading, text field. Now, when I open the Weather folder, voiceover says Weather Underground heading, text field, even though the folder is called Weather. . I suppose I caused that by re-labeling one of the apps and could easily fix things by putting the original label back, but I'm wondering if this is an IOS/Voiceover bug that I've run into here. I spent a considerable amount of time this afternoon deleting mail messages on my I Phone, only to discover that they are all now back in my in box! Setting Up iCloud Mail On Windows
Hi all. At my whits end here. I installed that iCloud Control Center thing because I wanted to read my email on Windows, and also I'm a part of a job that wants me to use Windows for various tasks. I configured it to access my iCloud email, but unfortunately, I can't read my messages in Outlook. Then I found a helpful article about configuring iCloud email manually without the control center, but again an't access my email, I can only send email. So I really need a podcast or someone to walk me through how I can configure Microsoft Outlook to use iCloud email properly unless you all can recommend another email client on Windows to use. What email protocol are you using, IMAP or POP? This could easily happen if you're using POP and you don't have your POP settings configured to remove your email from the server when you've downloaded it or when you've deleted it or moved it to another folder.
