Re: Relaxation App For Help Getting To Sleep?
It doesn't seem to be accessible. The help file says to tap on the playlist then slide to the left or right and the create box will appear or some such. I've tried several times and it never works for me. No big deal though. I still love this app. Moosejaw Creek is my favorite track so far. Hi, Two-finger double-tap works for me when stopping a track. I also wanted to mention that if you like thunderstorms, NatureSpace has a second app called Thundergod that includes several great recordings. If you have the main NatureSpace app and you buy Thundergod, you get access to all the Thundergod thunderstorm recordings in NatureSpace. You can then delete Thundergod if you like, and still hear all the tracks from within NatureSpace. So it's a cheaper way to get this collection of tracks then buying them within NatureSpace. It's very VoiceOver accessible, and the tracks are fantastic! They have a catalog that you can explore, broken down by category. When you go into the Naturespace Store within the app, you'll see some categories, and then an option labeled complete catalog. The only things I wish they would do is put headings for the different categories in the complete catalog, and add a search feature to the in-app store. As of right now, the categories in the complete catalog start with just a word, like morning or evening or rain. I wish these words would be made into headings, so you could easily move between categories using the headings option in the rotor. Also, if someone recommends a track to you, the only way that you can make sure you find it is to go into the complete catalog and patiently search for it among the different categories. I plan to suggest these features to the app developer. Other than these small issues, this app is absolutely awesome! By the way, you probably should look through the complete catalog, as the categories on the main in-app store screen don't list everything in that specific category. Some tracks you might want to try: Riverknot (Rivers category) Life After Life (afternoons category) Pastureland (complete catalog, Afternoons category) Back Home (complete catalog, Rain category) Moosejaw Creek (Afternoons category) The Cloud Engine (afternoons category) Mare Tranquillitatis The Secrets of Sunlight The Wolves (evenings category) The Ghost (Evenings category) Thanks, Ari On Mar 21, 2015, at 12:07 PM, Destene Noller destene.nol...@icloud.com mailto:destene.nol...@icloud.com wrote: Thanks so much for these fabulous instruction! Tip of the Day: How to Care for Your iPhone or iPad Battery Apple makes a distinction between battery life and battery lifespan. There are things you can do to make sure your battery has enough juice to last throughout the day. But Apple and others also give advice on how you can avoid damaging your battery so that it has a long lifespan. Every battery will degrade in performance over time, but following these tips will help you avoid damaging your battery. • Avoid temperature extremes, especially heat — Your battery is designed to work the best between the temperatures of 62° to 72° F (16–22 C). If you expose your device to temperatures higher than 95°, you can cause damage to your battery, such that it won't last as long between charges. • Avoid leaving your battery in a case when charging — Some cases can retain heat and cause your iPhone or iPad to overheat during charging. To be safe, it's best to remove it from the case. • If storing your device for a long period, store it at half charge — If you aren't going to be using your iPhone or iPad for a period of weeks or months, store it at 50 percent. If you store it when it's empty, you can cause damage such that it will no longer charge. If you store it at 100 percent, this could decrease its daily capacity. If you're storing it for a very long period, bring the charge back up to 50 percent after six months. • Power down your device before storing it — In addition to storing it at 50 percent, power down your device before storing it. • Store your device at a temperature less than 90° — Since heat can cause damage, it's important to ensure your device isn't exposed to high temperatures during long-term storage. Also, the environment should be moisture-free. • Always use the latest version of iOS — Each update typically brings improvements in battery efficiency. And the more efficient your battery, the less it's used. And the less it's used, the longer its lifespan. • Avoid completely draining your battery — While Apple doesn't mention this, experts on lithium-ion batteries say that it's good to avoid completely draining your battery or regularly running it until it's low. • Charge your battery regularly — Experts say it's best to keep it charged. You don't need to worry about over-charging it, because the charger is intelligent enough to recognize when the battery is full. Did you enjoy this tip? Hi Craig, Voice Dream Writer includes some great tools for moving the cursor, including the ability to move by sentence and paragraph. Re: Cursor Tracking with AccessNote and Voice Dream Writer
Yes, AccessNote is now free, rather than the $19.99 it was when I bought it. But, Writer is worth more than the $9.99 it costs. It is way better for writing and editing what you have written. No, you do not have to use an external keyboard, though I think it makes extensive writing easier. You can use the onscreen keyboard or dictation. TIP: Light and Easy Does It
Hi All, The following is a short tip I wrote and published to the Candle Shore BLOG so thought I would share it here. Mark TIP: Light and Easy Does It Hello Everyone, In the olden-days, back when Windows Mobile 6.1 was the latest and greatest mobile OS on the planet, as it ran flawlessly on my beloved Samsung Blackjack 2, during the hustle and bustle of daily life, I would sometimes, very rarely mind you, find myself taking out my frustrations on my wireless device, said device being referred to these days as a Feature Phone, by, let us say, pressing the keys a little more enthusiastically than normal (smile). Being the calm, cool, and collective person that I have become since then, believe it or not, as hard as it may be to fathom, I still find that, oh so rarely you understand, there are occasions when my enthusiasm, the result of unexpected or unwanted daily events, attempts to rear its ugly head as I interact with my now beloved iPhone 6 Plus. Such attempts always fail as I have discovered that, on my iPhone 6 Plus, especially when VoiceOver, Apple's software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision, is enabled, the touch-screen is much more responsive when I use a lighter press/tap/swipe then a heavier one. So, if you find that your touch-screen device is not as responsive as it once was or not as reactive as it should be, after making sure its surface is clean, try using a soft smooth hand rather than a hard rough heavier one. Remember, light and easy does it. Mark -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. All new members to the this list are moderated by default. So it’s a cheaper way to get this collection of tracks then buying them within NatureSpace. Some tracks you might want to try: Riverknot (Rivers category) Life After Life (afternoons category) Pastureland (complete catalog, Afternoons category) Back Home (complete catalog, Rain category) Moosejaw Creek (Afternoons category) The Cloud Engine (afternoons category) Mare Tranquillitatis The Secrets of Sunlight The Wolves (evenings category) The Ghost (Evenings category) Thanks, Ari On Mar 21, 2015, at 12:07 PM, Destene Noller destene.nol...@icloud.com wrote: Thanks so much for these fabulous instruction! Re: Relaxation App For Help Getting To Sleep?
I have the same problem and have a bunch of previews in my library now. I'm thinking I might delete the apt from my phone then redownload the tracks I purchased. It seems like the long around, but it will get rid of the unwanted previews. On 3/24/15, Neal Ewers neal.ew...@ravenswood.org wrote: Hi Anna and list. Anna, thanks for the information about these apps. As many of you know, I record a lot of nature sounds. I have to say that these sounds are recorded as well as any I have heard. I do have one question. I can't seem to delete the previews of sounds I have listened to. I think this might be an accessibility issue, but if people have figured out how to do this with VoiceOver, I would appreciate knowing the secret. Thanks much. Degrees app omitting some information?
Hi guys, For those of you who use degrees, have you noticed that sometimes it won't have current weather information? it will say either null or n/a. It has gotten marginally better, and there doesn't appear to be any sort of pattern to when this happens. I have tried restarting the phone, and have also closed and re-opened the app in the app switcher. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Re: How to Care for Your iPhone or iPad Battery
The circuitry in the iPhone battery won't let the battery charge go all the way to zero, and it'll start trickle charging before the battery is completely charged, so you don't have to worry too much about running the battery all the way down or leaving it plugged in and charging. Lithium ion batteries do like shallow charges though,so when it's convenient, it's best to let it run down to something like 50% and then charge it back up to 80%. This is for optimal use though. IMHO, the best thing to do is to use your LI battery. Use it and then charge it when an outlet is convenient. Your iPhone and it's battery is meant to serve you and not the other way around. If you're storing it for a very long period, bring the charge back up to 50 percentafter six months. • Avoid completely draining your battery — While Apple doesn't mention this, experts on lithium-ion batteries say that it's good to avoid completely draining your battery
How to delete previews in NatureSpace
OK, it is possible after all. I tried to do what the help file said the first time, but there is something I didn't know. You have to be quick about this task. If you are playing a preview and you tap the info button in the bottom left corner, You have to quickly tap in about the same place and you will get a dialog opened that has a delete button. The screen changes rather quickly after you tap the info button, so you can't wait very long to do the second tap, but if you do it quick enough, it works. I think you have to be quite close to the info button to make this work, but I have not played with this much to find out other places you may be able to tap. But I have been able to use this strategy to delete my previews. Neal -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Hi Rick and all, you said: ..I'll bet someone will come up with something that will provide a holder that doesn't need to be attached to the phone or case permanently. I plan to write them about the playlists issue as well. In my previous message on this topic, I recommended quite a few tracks. issue signing in to iCloud
Hi, I am having to change my email address. Yesterday, I went in on my iPhone 5s and changed the email address on my Apple ID, and changed the password, too. Everything seemed fine, and I got an email from Apple asking me to verify the changes, which I did. Now, however, I can not sign in to iCloud. It still comes up with the old Apple ID email address. If I type in the old password it is rejected, and if I type in the new password it is rejected. I can’t find anyway to make the change with iCloud to reflect the changes, and it won’t accept the password. How can I change iCloud to show the new Apple Id and password. Going into settings, and then iCloud wont’ let me by the incorrect sign in. I did check in settings to see that it showed the new Apple ID email address, which it does. Thanks, if anyone can get me out of this pickle. Crystal -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. All new members to the this list are moderated by default. Re: Relaxation App For Help Getting To Sleep?
Kimber, The playlist features in NatureSpace are not accessible. The gestures the app help says to use are with VoiceOver turned off. I placed focus on one of the sound tracks in my library, turned VoiceOver off, and swiped left and a couple of playlist buttons appear on the right edge in a verticle menu. One of these is a create new playlist button. Unfortunately, this is all done visually by going back to your library of tracks and dragging the desired ones onto the name of the created playlist. I have some vision but not enough to successfully create and add any tracks to a playlist. I wrote supp...@naturespace.com with this issue and urge others on this list who are using the app and have accessibility issues to do likewise. Hi Maria and all other ladies looking for a solution to wearing the IPhone around your neck. In the past I have seen some very small simple purses that might hold the IPhone.
