Re: Assigning Voice Over to another output, can i?

2015-11-22 Thread Alex Stone
Theoretically, voiceover should do that, but in the current version of
ios, it doesn't seem to work very well. For instance if I want to have
my iPad and my iPhone coming out from my Plantronix Bluetooth headset,
which supports more than one input, then it won't work, no matter what I do.

Re: Assigning Voice Over to another output, can i?

2015-11-22 Thread goshawk on horseback
I think the apogee quartet would be your best bet for this, as from it's
description, you could assign the concert audio to any of the outputs not
being used by voiceOver. would probably have got this myself, if it didn't
need AC power, but unfortunately, it looks like it does, so would have been
useless for me for field work.

Yes. Two USB ports and I think 6,000MA?

Interesting: I received a note from Anker asking if I was satisfied with my
purchase. I assured them I was and suggested they consider some sort of
audible test of the charge. I didn't ask that they do this, but it was just
an idea. Someone has to lead...

Re: 5s seems to be stuck

2015-11-22 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Whenever something says adjustable, you don't double tap that. It means
that you use a single finger swipe up or down to adjust it. When it says
adjustable, it doesn't stay that way for more than maybe a second or two,
probably two, it then turns back off. So, adjust it with that single finger
swipe up or down within that maybe two second window of time before it stops
being adjustable. Also, you can change your home screens with a
three-finger swipe right or left any time, without having to touch where it
says, in your case, page three adjustable. .

Re: itunes for pc library after match

Hi Larry,

iTunes doesn't change your files unless you tell it to. If a file is matched,
it means the track exists in the iTunes library. To get the version from the
library, delete the track from your library but not from iCloud, then choose
the context key and choose Download from the context menu.

If I don't know someone well, I send a regular text message. If the
person has an iPhone, Apple will figure that out and send a iMessage.
If they do not have an iPhone, it will be sent as a regular text
message. Many people do not have iPhones or are not on Facebook or
other platforms. Even if they are part of Facebook, they may not have
Facebook Messenger installed on their phone.

Re: voice over suddenly going quiet

2015-11-22 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I experienced the first problem you described, VoiceOver not responding,
when I would use my headset on a call. This seems to have been resolved
at some point. Are you doing anything consistently before you lose
VoiceOver, such as hang up on a call while using your headphones?

I haven't experienced the second problem you mentioned. You may need to
make a backup, restore to original settings and then restore from your
backup.

Hi all. It seems that since I’ve upgraded to IOS 9.1 voice over freezes
rather frequently, perhaps two or 3 times a week. The only thing that
helps is to hold down the home and sleep buttons for 10 or so seconds.
When voice over seems to crash I can usually still hear the sounds, but
no voice over speech. I’ve tried waiting a few minutes, but it doesn’t
come back on its own.

Also, the other night I was using the BARD app listening to a
book. The book stopped, and none of the other books would play. Voice
over was working at that time. Again, doing a hard re-set solved the
problem. Very strange. Is anyone else noticing either of these issues?
Any thoughts. Thanks.

God bless!

Theoretically you can, you should now be able to put audio destination

Ramy, we could have a chat about this on sskype tomorrow evening if you
wanted to, I may not be of much help though.

itunes for pc library after match

2015-11-22 Thread Larry Lumpkin
Hello. I now have an itunes for pc library that I have gotten to tell me
when songs are "purchased" "matched" or "uploaded". When I play a "Matched"
song, am I playing the better kb256 copy or the original? In other words,
is itunes mmerely telling me that the song is matched or is it really
playing the matched version. I understood that the match did not replace
your original rips so was just wondering if I had to do something to get the
better matched copy to play on the pc.

Is there a way to find and delete invalid entries in a play list?

2015-11-22 Thread Larry Lumpkin
The subject says it. I have a large play list that must have some invalid
entries in it because it wouldn't upload to itunes match. I'd like to get
rid of them but don't know how to do it other than to go one by one through
over 8 thousand entries.

Hello,
I use iMessage. I much rather prefer it over things like FB. However, for
security reasons, I'd leave it with the email. If you iMessage someone
unintentionally, you could give them your number. With email, well, they will
only know your email. And I'd imagine family members already know it, anyway?

Yes, thanks, I'm aware of all of this and spend a lot of time just in
"Facebook". However, there are times when I just don't have much reading
time and would like to browse some of the latest from both, as quickly
as I can. This is where I really liked that particular app.

Thanks, though, for mentioning the various ways that I can see both ...
It's appreciated!

turned on with twitter, so if I want an SMS sent when someone I am
following updates, I just have to turn on an SMS notification for that
particular person...this way I can control who I get notifications
from...it's pretty easy to turn notifications either from facebook or
twitter via sms, on and off for who ever you want.
You put those friends you want to see notifications from on facebook
into your close friends list and you will only see their status
updates when notifications are turned on in the app
You can send a txt to twitter with F and the persons twitter handle
and it'll start sending notifications to yu...simply send off and that
persons twitter handle to the twitter number and you will stop
receiving SMS's for that person...you can also update your own
facebook, and twitter via sms by sending your update to the
appropriate sms number for fb and twitter.
Using sms's makes it easy, simple, controlable and you don't have to
try and wade through pages and pages of garbage on FB or twitter.

Any other apps people would recommend giving more than one option to

turned on with twitter, so if I want an SMS sent when someone I am
following updates, I just have to turn on an SMS notification for
that particular person...this way I can control who I get
notifications from...it's pretty easy to turn notifications either
from facebook or twitter via sms, on and off for who ever you want.
You put those friends you want to see notifications from on facebook
into your close friends list and you will only see their status
updates when notifications are turned on in the app
You can send a txt to twitter with F and the persons twitter handle
and it'll start sending notifications to yu...simply send off and
that persons twitter handle to the twitter number and you will stop
receiving SMS's for that person...you can also update your own
facebook, and twitter via sms by sending your update to the
appropriate sms number for fb and twitter.
Using sms's makes it easy, simple, controlable and you don't have to
try and wade through pages and pages of garbage on FB or twitter.

As it is, I pick it up about every two or three months, have a play,

Any other apps people would recommend giving more than one option to

Robin, I've heard of this brand of case before. Do you have one that

charging port and headphone jack when it's in the clip? The reason I
really liked my old Defender is that it didn't block access to either

reason I like the OtterBox Defender over the Griffin Survivor is that
the phone is a lot easier to put back in the clip one-handed using the
OtterBox Defender.

Do the Otterbox defender cases really have air pockets, like a lot of
people seem to be saying, or is that just one person or two people
that had a problem, and now it's getting hyped way out of hand? The
reason I want the screen protector is because I often touch my phone

screen ever touches the ground and I just don't like screen
protectors. The screen protector is glued in and if you start at one
corner, it is not too hard to get it off. It is of course anybody's
choice, I am not that worried about my screen since it is made from
extremely hard glass. I have had the iPhone 4, 4S, 5S and now the 6S

I had a little problem with Otterbox Commuter when I had it for my
IPhone6Plus.
Power button was getting pushed frequently with just the accidental
touch of my finger.
So, I replaced it with Otterbox Defender. Defender does not have
that problem, however, its screen protector does not snugly flush
with the screen and leaves some air-pockets here and there, thus you
have to tap very hard at times.

First, a double-tap would take you to an end, might have to do it more than
once if it takes you to the wrong end; but it does
tell you. So, the double-tap will take you to the start of the message, which
is the start of the first line I hope.

Then, I can flick left to previous screen item, flick right back to the text

some navigational control if I need to check a detail as

Hi,

My guess is that some tracks in the playlist are ineligible for iCloud. Maybe
they're at too low a bitrate, or there's something really long, possibly a
couple of hours long. If even one track is ineligibl for iCloud, the playlist
won't be available to iCloud and iTunes Match.

Yes it does come with a belt clip holster portion of the case which one can

I like the OtterBox Defender over the Griffin Survivor is that the phone
is a lot easier to put back in the clip one-handed using the OtterBox
Defender.

Thanks,
Ari

Hi,
when the cases for the 6's and 6Plus's came out there was a great deal of

the thin film that was now covering the home button through which the
fingerprint censor would still work.
I haven't consulted more recent reviews of the cases for the 6s's and
6sPlus's to see if the problem persists as when it happened with the
prior models I went with a different case. It is the unicorn beetle line
from SupCase. It's similar to the defender cases at a slightly lower
price point. I wouldn't say it's exactly in the same class as the
defender but if you're not involved in construction work or dropping your
device from great heights you might make out just fine with this model as
I have. All cases I've purchased for myself and others of this range have
lain flat against the face of the phone in terms of its built in screen
protector portion. the home button fingerprint censor portion of this
case is open as it had been in earlier models of the otterbox defender
cases.
Examples of this case can be found here should you like to read more.
I've no affiliation with them I've just been a happy customer. I hope
that helps.

Do the Otterbox defender cases really have air pockets, like a lot of
people seem to be saying, or is that just one person or two people that
had a problem, and now it's getting hyped way out of hand? The reason I
want the screen protector is because I often touch my phone with dirty
hands.

Hi Fazil,

I have an Otterbox Defender case as well (which I never use any more),

touchscreen down, it is extremely unlikely that the screen ever touches
the ground and I just don't like screen protectors. The screen protector
is glued in and if you start at one corner, it is not too hard to get it
off. It is of course anybody's choice, I am not that worried about my
screen since it is made from extremely hard glass. I have had the iPhone
4, 4S, 5S and now the 6S and I have dropped any one of them many times
without screen protector and never had a problem.

"Light Probe" App

2015-11-22 Thread SSEric
My rechargeable battery has four little lights to indicate charge level.

Is there any app I could tell if those are lighted? I would have to move the
lens along the row of lights to count how many are on. These are fairly
close together, usually. (I actually cannot feel these lights, but on all
other batteries they have been about 1/4 inch apart.)

Thanks!

Eric

2015-11-22 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

You might be able to do it with Light Detector, but I'm not sure. That app
doesn't cost much, though; I think it's $.99, so it might be worth a try. There
are lights on my washing machine that are roughly half an inch apart, and if I
hold my phone close, I can tell which one is on.

Best,
Anna

With Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger and other services, do you still use

Any ideas, or should I not worry and just leave it with my EMail as it is?

Re: "Light Probe" App

2015-11-22 Thread Eric Oyen
if you have an iPhone, there is an app for that. :) its called light detector.
I use it to determine if the recharge stand for my radios is working, the
control for the electric blanket and even if there is a light on in the room.

its been handy, although it doesn't see a lot of use.
