I like the user interface and features of rev voice recorder. You can have
recordings sync to dropbox automaticly or share via message, email etc. records

RE: recording apps

2016-06-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I used to have List Recorder, but when I want to record something I prefer a
very simple solution and I would agree with the recommendation for Dropvox. I
remember when List Recorder first came out it was very well liked and regarded,
but I just checked on the app store and while it's still there for $0.99, it
hasn't been updated since November 2013 when the latest "What's New"
description was "iOS 7 compatibility". It would appear that the developer has
abandoned the project since I am sure List Recorder which can also do text
notes could benefit from using share extensions. I guess one could say that why
fix something that isn't broke so if the app works it works, but it is nice to
see updates every now and then. I personally rarely buy an app or download a
free one which hasn't been updated for several years.
I wonder if one could search the millions of apps and filter out all apps which
haven't been updated say for 2 years how many would be left and also whether
Apple has some sort of rule according to which apps which haven't been updated
for a certain time are taken off the store.

List Recorder can make long recordings, and you can record in mono or stereo,

I agree. SIRI is actually pretty amazing. You can have her do more than just
text messages or emails. You can set up appointments with her and check your
calendar. I use SIRI all the time and was not impressed with competitors in my
experience. She’s not perfect, but nothing is.

Devin,

Despite its limitations, SIRI can deliver the actual dividend yield of
a stock on a major exchange, something that Hound and Google cannot
do. SIRI can also deliver granular weather data much more accessibly
than Hound or Google. Also, converting currency or measurement units,
such as imperial measures to metric are a snap with SIRI.

Hi Carol,
I've not had that experience.
I hear the name I have given it when I go through the list of photos.

Re: RENAMING PICTURES

2016-06-08 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone
Caitlin,

My problem is that I don't use a Mac, and I really want to keep the photos on
my phone and preferably in the camera roll, rather than my dropbox. Once you
move them to dropbox, it appears that you cannot put them back in the camera
roll as such, because you have renamed them in dropbox.

Anyway, I have now written to The access team with my comments and hope they
will think of a more suitable fix for us!

Re: recording apps

2016-06-08 Thread Shai
Hi,
There is also the native Voice Memos app. You could use this to record
and upload the files to Dropbox. The files are recorded as m4a if that
makes any difference. As far as I know, there is no time limit on the
recording.

Hi,

List Recorder can make long recordings, and you can record in mono or stereo,
in compressed or uncompressed formats. You can also save recordings to Dropbox.

Re: recording apps

2016-06-08 Thread Brandon Olivares
I use Dropvox. It automatically uploads recordings to Dropbox. And, I don’t
think there’s a recording limit. I’ve recorded for an hour at a time before
without an issue.

You just double tap the button to start recording, then double tap again to
stop.

Some Info on The PayPal PrePaid Mastercard App for iOS

2016-06-08 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I am cross-posting this to let you know that the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard
App for iOS is more than reasonably VoiceOver accessible. There are two
VoiceOver bugs that are immediately obvious.

1.
The primary menu button, located in the upper left corner of the display, is
not labeled; it just reads as, "button."

2.
It is sometimes necessary to perform a single-finger, double-tap and hold
gesture in order to activate items labeled as links.

Other than these two items, all of the information one needs, in order to
conveniently manage the card account, is accessible.

I have submitted a bug report to the developer and, hopefully, these bugs
will be addressed in future releases.

Please note that I am referring only to the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard and
not to the PayPal Debit card.

Just in case some are wondering, the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard is a secured
debit card. This is to say, one must load money onto the card, either
online or at a local market, such as 7 Eleven in order to use it.

There are several reasons for using such a card. Some use these kinds of
cards because they either have no established credit line or bank account or
have a very bad credit history which prevents them from obtaining a
traditional revolving credit card account. It should be noted, however,
that prepaid cards will not, unless explicitly stated in the terms of use
agreement, help either establish or improve one's credit score.

Another reason, which is why I have one, is because one does not want to
give an untrusted vendor access to a revolving credit line or bank account,
such as would be the case if one were to use a standard debit or credit
card.

As a scenario as to why one may consider using a prepaid card, and this has
happened to me in the distant past, a vendor was only supposed to charge me
a fee, once. However, the vendor began billing me monthly. While I
eventually received a refund for the unauthorized charges, I had to both
file a credit dispute and cancel the account. The real inconvenience came
when I found myself having to update several trusted online vendors with the
new credit card number.

Remember, a prepaid card can only be charged up to the amount loaded on the
account.

So, in the above scenario, assuming that I had funded the card only up to
the amount that I was to pay the vendor, subsequent billing attempts would
have been denied. Assuming that I had received notifications of the failed
attempts, I could have investigated the problem, before money was taken.
Even in the event that subsequent unauthorized charges had gone through,
however, I could have cancelled the card without having to update all of my
online accounts, assuming that I had not used the prepaid card for them.

You should know that while there are no interest charges associated with
prepaid cards, there are, however, associated fees that, depending on the
brand of the card, can make using the card unreasonably expensive.

The prepaid card market has exploded in recent years; so much so that even
major banks such as Chase are offering such accounts.

If you are considering a prepaid card, be sure to shop around and make
certain that you thoroughly understand the fees associated with using the
card.

Just so there is no confusion, I am, in no way, promoting/recommending
prepaids cards to anyone. I am merely providing feedback on the current
VoiceOver accessibility of the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard App, for iOS and
describing a scenario in which the outcome would have been different if such
an instrument had been used.

Mark

Re: Command for showing and hiding keyboard with braille display

2016-06-08 Thread Devin Prater
One more thing. If the virtual keyboard is display while using a braille
display, it is much easier to use spelling corrections when "check spelling" is
enabled in keyboard settings. Just backspace the space from the word you want
to correct, and the focus is automatically brought to the menu. This is one of
the reasons I have the keyboard shown.

Re: Command for showing and hiding keyboard with braille display

2016-06-08 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

If the onscreen keyboard isn't showing up for some reason and you don't have
access to a hardware keyboard, restarting the phone brings it back. It's
annoying to have to do that, but at least there's a way to get it back if you
don't have a keyboard handy.

Best,
Anna

Re: Command for showing and hiding keyboard with braille display

2016-06-08 Thread Wayne Merritt
Note that if you hide the keyboard, and then use your iOS device
without the Braille display, the virtual keyboard may still be hidden.
At least this is how it works when using a Bluetooth wireless
keyboard. The virtual keyboard does not appear again until you use
that same command mentioned to show the keyboard. This can be
concerning for someone who doesn't know what's going on, which is why
I mention it here as a friendly reminder.

TO add to what Anna said, it's a toggle, meaning that if it's hidden
and you want it to show up, press the command, then press it again
when you wish for the virtual keyboard to go away.

Re: Strange sonos issue

2016-06-08 Thread Krister Ekstrom
Last comment for now, i hope.
Yes the message refers to the controler rather than the firmware, at first,
Sonos says that a new controller app is available and gives me a cancel and an
update button. When i press the update button Sonos briefly says searching for
update and then comes back with a dialog that the system doesn’t need to be
updated cause it’s the latest version and an ok button.

Re: Strange sonos issue

2016-06-08 Thread Krister Ekstrom
I would think it was like that, only that doesn’t appear to be the case.
There’s no ”learn more” button either when the dialog pops up nor when the
search is finished. There may be a newer app somewhere, i’ll have to search for
it on my phone, i haven’t done that.
Thanks for the answer.

Re: Strange sonos issue

2016-06-08 Thread Neil Barnfather
Krister,

Two things, sometimes Sonos Beta Apps appear as a separate second App, check
your home screen pages for a second one, as it maybe simply that you are
launching the old version… Keep in mind that the message to update may relate
to either your controller App or the FW on the units themselves.

You also need to press on “learn more” when you are prompted with the update
messages not done or other button.

So I’m guessing that the issue is either that the update message refers to the
iOS App rather than the FW, or, you are using a version of the App which is
older than another version which has been installed on your device.

Re: RENAMING PICTURES

2016-06-08 Thread Richard Turner

One more observation. As far as I know, Apple does not allow anyone to change
the actual filename on their device, only the description via the
two-finger-double-tap-and-hold.
I could have said that in my first message, but I've known that so long that I
didn't think to mention it.
If folks want to be able to change the filenames to something meaningful, they
need to write Apple feedback since that isn't a VoiceOver issue, it is an iOS
issue.

Hi Sieghard,

As usual, this was a very thorough explanation that I appreciate more than you
know. I haven’t tried to actually do it yet but I’m sure it will work for me!

Thanks again. I think this is a step by step explanation that everyone should
keep on file.

Hi Debbie,

Yes, you can change your credit card number on your iPhone 5S very easily, here
is how:

1. Open the App Store

2. Make sure the “Featured” tab at the bottom left is selected

3. Again make sure focus is on that tab, then swipe left twice which
should put you on “Apple Id” followed by your Apple Id email. Double tap on that

4. A menu pops up with the following choices: View Apple Id, Sign Out, I
forget, Cancel

5. Double tap on “View Apple Id”, you will be asked for your Apple Id
password, enter it and double tap “OK”.

6. After a moment a new screen comes up which has the heading “Account”
at the top and a “Done” button at the top right

If you swipe right from that Done button, you find the following items (they
are all links or explanations):

Apple Id, link

Your Apple Id email, link

Then it explains: Editing your Apple Id and Password will take you to

AppleID.apple.com, link

Swipe right some more and you find:

Family Sharing, link

Payment Information, link

A final explanation at the bottom: Apple uses industry standard encryption to
protect the confidentially of your personal information.

Lastly, two more links for “Terms of Service” and “Privacy Policy”.

7. Obviously you want to double tap on the link for “Payment Information”.

8. On the screen that follows you have a “Cancel” button at the top left,
the “Account” heading in the middle and the “Done” button at the top right.

The first item after the Done button is an explanation: All family members
share the payment method shown below. Codes you redeem will be applied only to
your individual account.

After that comes a heading level 2: Payment Type

In my case, I have 3 radio buttons: Visa, Mastercard and Amex, Voiceover will
clearly tell you which one is checked.

Next comes another heading level 2: Payment Card

Card number: Voiceover will read what is currently there as “4 bullets, 4
bullets, 4 bullets and then the last 4 digits of the card you are currently
using. It’s a text field so you can double tap on it and enter a new number.

Next comes the security code and Voiceover tells you it’s required. This is a
text field and you have to double tap on it to put focus there so you can enter
your 3-digit card verification code (4 digits for Amex).

Now comes another heading level 2: Expiration date

Swipe right and you hear “Month, bullet bullet, pop up button. Swipe right and
you get year, 4 bullets, pop up button.

Double tap on either one and focus is placed on a picker control and you can
flick down with one finger, it starts at 12 (December) and each flick down goes
down to the previous month. The one for the year works the same. Once you
selected you rmonth and year, flick left to the “Done” button and double tap it.

9. Unless you also have to change your billing address which is what
comes next, you are now done and you can double tap on the “Done” button at the
top right.

10. This takes you back to the main screen, double tap “Done” again at the
top right and you are now back in the “Featured” tab of the App Store.

Sieghard

Hi all,

I need to make changes to my credit card information; can I do this from my 5S

Thanks!

That is a very complicated question for Siri. You might've done better to add
something more general like give me the names of a few towns in New Zealand in
a certain region and specify that region and then men maybe if you're lucky she
would come up with a list of names or sent you to a website about all about New
Zealand and that particular region you are funny though. In fact if you were to
ask Siri how funny you were or if you were funny see what she might have to say
if she had a memory about the kinds of questions you asked then she might
actually have something clever to say.
