Apple Music question

2016-07-17 Thread Roger Frischenmeyer
Is there a way to remove all of my music from the cloud and start all over
because I have A lot of corrupt songs many of which I recorded from old records
and for some reason they didn't import to iTunes correctly so I need to do it
again.

Re: News App Annoyance

2016-07-17 Thread Brett

Hi,

As far as I am aware, there's nothing you can do about this one. It
seems that Apple haven't followed their accessibility programing
guidance and have hard-coded this message instead of making it a hint,
as it really should be.

If you feel bothered enough by it, perhaps consider writing to Apple
accessibility.

Cheers,

Brett.

Siri volume is very low when alarm goes off

2016-07-17 Thread Jeremy
Hi all,

on my iPhone 6S the Siri volume is very low in comparison to the general
VoiceOver volume.

If I go into Settings > Sounds, then swipe down to "sound volume," if I
flick up or down this control changes the volume of my phone's ringer, but
it also changes the volume of the general VoiceOver volume.

For example, with the sound volume set to 3%, if I use Siri to set an alarm
for 1 minute from now, when the alarm goes off, I hear the alarm sound, but
when I swipe back and forth around the screen, the VoiceOver volume is very
low. If I close that alarm screen the VoiceOver sound will automatically
return to normal.

Is there a way of raising the VoiceOver speech when I press the Home button
and use Siri to set an alarm?

This happens with and without a Bluetooth headset or earpiece.

Please, absolutely all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

JR

How to upload an iPhone video to Dropbox Public Folder

2016-07-17 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

I have a 7-minute iPhone video I'd like to add to my Dropbox folder.

I get to Save to Dropbox, and the option to Save or to Choose another Folder.
When I clik on Choose another folder, no further options are given. When I
click on Save, I get amessage, Unable to save to Dropbox (or something similar).

Can I do this? If so, how?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

RE: Blind Square and Four Square

2016-07-17 Thread Chip Orange
It might … but I thought they bought map data from NavTech or some company like
that (at least they did for their other braille note products).

I don’t know enough about them, but I thought they charged a yearly fee, and I
didn’t want to own them like that if that was the case.

However, I am really disappointed in Blind Square so far.

Yes, there could be a charge from Google to the app developer if you have a
high enough volume of data queries, but it was very small, so charging a little
something for the app should easily cover it. I never had to pay anything.

Google would also give you all the POIs as well as the mapping data (I did in
my app), so you would not have to use four square. I think it would be a big
improvement.

And I have to say it’s map data isn’t all that accurate in smaller towns which

Try Arriadne GPS for more accurate mapping data, but without the four square

Blindsquare uses 4 square’s database of pois. You don’t have to have a 4

We both believe that bluetooth headsets are acceptible parts of business dress
these days, but this is the most minimal headset we know of.

Also, I forgot to mention if you lay down your phone and forget it and start to
walk off, the headset will begin vibrating as you walk out of range, keeping
you from forgetting your phone. Of course, you can turn off the audible ringer
on the phone, and have the headset just vibrate when a call comes in. It can
vibrate in different patterns, so you can tell a text from a call from a
special pattern you've assigned to certain contacts.

I've had it now for about six months, and I still like it as much as when I
first purchased it.

Hi chip is that headset be connected to two devices at the same time?
and what about its capacity to handle neck sweat, as during summer its

RE: Bluetooth Headphones

2016-07-17 Thread Chip Orange
They’re ear-buds; that is, there’s a button mushroom hard plastic piece which
holds the speaker, and then there’s a silicon rubber tip which you slide into
your ear. It’s soft and comfortable, and you just push it in until it’s far
enough to hold itself (so, nothing like Apple ear buds is what I’m saying).
They give you a medium and a small set of tips.

I usually take cell calls, and work with Siri, with just one inserted, and only
use both when I’m listening to music.

2016-07-17 Thread Shai
Hello,
When I send text messages or emails using a bluetooth keyboard, I
notice that there are spelling suggestions which come up but I do not
know how to interact with these and select the correct suggestion or
cancel out of this area if I do not want any of the choices. Has
anyone found a solution?
Thank you in advance for any responses

News App Annoyance

2016-07-17 Thread Dan Rathburn

Hello,

When using the native News app on my iPhone 6-plus,Voiceover says "Une the
rotor to access headings" after selecting a story to read and advancing
through it. It happens whenever there is a break in the text like a title,
paragraph, etc.. Using the rotor doesn't seem to help.

Thanks,

Dan

The nice thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or
not.

Re: karaoke and voice and instrument training apps

2016-07-17 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

I have an iPhone app that does a nice job stripping out vocals, depending on
the song and how it's recorded. It's called VocalZap. It hasn't been updated in
ages, and I couldn't find it in the app store, but if that one is gone, surely
there's another that does something similar. I'm really sorry VocalZap appears
to be gone, as it's accessible and works well.

Best,
Anna

Hi Kevin,

What’s BLE?

I didn’t even know this model existed, so I’m interested in how it’s different
from the 900; thanks!

RE: Blind Square and Four Square

2016-07-17 Thread Chip Orange
I really wish we had a blind-friendly navigational GPS app which used Google
map data; I don’t know why we don’t, the Google data is freely available (I
wrote such an app for laptops running Window-Eyes, which had a GPS receiver).

And I have to say it’s map data isn’t all that accurate in smaller towns which
may not have a lot of OSM volunteers to correct it. They need to allow people
who are blind to submit corrections somehow.

Try Arriadne GPS for more accurate mapping data, but without the four square
business info.

Blindsquare uses 4 square’s database of pois. You don’t have to have a 4
square account to use blindsquare but I think it helps you check into a place
if you wish. I don’t use the internals of 4 square so don’t know much about
it. Blindsquare uses open street maps for it’s map data.

RE: Bluetooth Headphones

2016-07-17 Thread Chip Orange
Hi,

It sits very loosely and lightly on your shoulders, and does not touch your
neck, and so causes no sweat or discomfort.

I was employed at the time my wife picked it out, and she did so because it
looks very professional (I have since retired); she liked the look of it far
more than one which sits in your ear, or the bone conduction ones which sit on
your head. It's not completely invisible (you cannot cover it up with a shirt
collar when you are actually talking on it because you'd be covering the
microphone), but she says it's hardly noticable. She says even if you wear a
tie she's seen plenty of people dressed like that wearing these types of collar
headsets.

Re: Spellchecking an email

2016-07-17 Thread Chris Chaffin

The feature is called auto correct, and I think it is turned on by default.
To turn it off, go to settings / general / keyboard.
Swipe right until you hear, auto correct, and it should say selected. Just
double tap it to unselect it and turn it off.

Hope this helps,

HI there,

I usually make karaoke’s with SoundForge or Cooledit. Both have an option to
remove vocals. However, there is a very small evidence of the vocal in a very

Yes thank you that was my issue with youtube as well that you can't download
easily although I do sort of have a way. I will check out bard as _ell. I'm
kind of interested in ways to strip vocals but I suppose that's better done on
a computer if it can be done at all. Many songs I wish to sing are in no way
popular quite sure how available for karaoke they will be.

Hi.
iTunes has a lot of karaoke backing tracks at a reasonable cost.
YouTube has some too that you can download for free, but I never

YouTube also has videos for singing and piano technique.

Finally, BARD has music courses you can download and train with.

I really haven't gotten into different voices, figuring that I can
adjust to most anything, and that different voices are very subjective
to each person listening and what they like or don't like. However,
with this discussion, I went back and browsed through all the
available voices; wow! I ended up getting James, and after my wife
heard him, she was very surprised that it was a TTS voice and not
someone speaking. She liked Sally the best. So now I've got some
choice when I want to read files or BookShare books. BTW, thanks to
the people that have pointed out that BookShare is very easy to browse
and download from, I never realized. I just might extend my BookShare
membership on that fact alone, grin.

speak, at least in my oppinion. However, this is why we have choice, and
it's great to see so many options in Voice Dream Reader.

I

Re: Looking for talking clock app.

2016-07-17 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
Not sure what do you mean. I have announcements set for every 60
minutes with male English voice.
I also have set the appointment time between 7 AM and 9 PM for
silencing the clock over night and I turned off notifications so I
don't see them on the lock screen.
And that's it.
And for everybody else, there are Voice Over Stopwatch and Voice
Over Timer from the same author but I didn't quite figured out how
are they working, the settings are confusing with no documentation
on how they work.

  Hi!

The Voice Over Clock is free and easy to use. You can set it to
announce

the time as you wish but I'm not sure does it only speak or it
has

sounds besides speech. It speaks in English, German, Spanish and

Japanese and I believe it uses iOS system speech.

The other one is Cqo Clock or something like that but when I was
using

it it required to be opened for time announcements.

The Voice Over Clock, when started can be removed from the App
Switcher

and it still works.

2016-07-17 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
Hi chip is that headset be connected to two devices at the same time?
and what about its capacity to handle neck sweat, as during summer its
too much humidity in my area. and tell me about its noticeable part,
mean can I use this headset in my professional life, mean in the
official meetings etc? mean will it go unnoticed when not in use? and
when I got a call, simply pull out earbud and insurt into the ear,
rest all the time in hidden position.
