Re: Strange Kindle book purchasing experience

You might check that your account is set to send the book to your device of
choice.
I vaguely remember something like that happening for me once.
Otherwise, I'd call them and see if they can't sort it out.
It is very odd.
Good luck,

Hi Chris,

I think maybe it is, just with a different title then you're looking for.

Try editing the meta information for the file by going into the Get Info
option of the file in iTunes before you sinc it, and make sure the
applicable titles, artists and so on are correct.

I made a ring tone from a song I have that was a total of 36 seconds. The
file extension is m4r.
I dropped it in the automatic iTunes folder, and when I open up iTunes, it
is there under Ring Tones as it is suppose to be. But when I sync my iPhone
with iTunes, for some reason it does not show up on my phone.

Things I have tried:
Syncing it multiple times, even after restarting my phone as well as iTunes.

Just to see if iTunes was syncing correctly, I deleted some ring tones from
iTunes, then synced my phone again to see if those ring tones would be
deleted from my phone, and yes, they were.
So if anyone knows why this ring tone is not syncing to my phone, please let
me know!

RE: Jamb paring question

2016-08-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Denise,

It's been quite a long time since I had a Jambox speaker, but it used to be
that you had to pull the on/off switch all the way up and hold it for a second
or two before the speaker went into pairing mode. Have you used this speaker in
Bluetooth mode before or is it brand-new? Also, what happens if you plug in the
3.5mm mal to male cable and connect it to your phone, does it not work? Lastly,
and I am just asking out of curiocity, why do you want to use it with a cable
rather than with a Bluetooth connection?

Copying and pasting from mail to face book using an Amazon basic Bluetooth keyboard.

2016-08-15 Thread cmohney1961
Hello all, Up until today, I had no problem copying from an email message to
Facebook. I opened the message. Got to the part I wanted to copy. Pressed
control option shift and the letter v. Which selects the text I want to copy.
Then, I go to face book click on the what's on your mind. Then I go to the same
saying that has the edit button. Double tap on that which turns the quick nav
off. I turn it back on. Hold down the right arrow and press the up arrow
until it says edit. Then I let go of the right arrow and double tap on paste.
When I do that, I hear a well, I say something that sounds like a drum as I'm
pressing the paste button. Up until today, three text would show up in the
edit window after I turned the quick nav back on. I like to check it GeV t o
make sure it is correct before I post it. When I checked today nothing was
there. I tried it on my iPhone and iPod and didn't see any text. I'm using
the latest version of iOS and Facebook. I tried turning off and back on both
devices and keyboards. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

I am just guessing here, but perhaps if you had the patch cord plugged in

RE: VoiceOver volume problem

2016-08-15 Thread Chip Orange
Yes, once I reported via email I received a response that an update should be
available in a couple of days!!!

I have reported in the past via the voice option in “help”, and there I seemed
to receive no response or action, so I definitely recommend the email support.

Now that I was sure it wasn’t hardware in my phone, I figured I could handle it
until it was fixed.

Hi all,

Lately I’ve been having a problem where the VoiceOver volume will suddenly drop
to an inaudible level for no apparent reason. If I go to the sounds settings
it often will be restored to the proper level, and if I talk to Siri I find the
standard sound level is not affected (that is, it’s fine).

Restarting VoiceOver and/or Restarting the phone does not cure the problem.

I think this began around 9.3.4, but I also received a new Roger update around
the same time, so it could be either, or perhaps even some other update.

Are others noticing this, and do you have any ideas on what to do? I did call
Apple support, and they had me turn off VoiceOver and restart the phone, but
this only solved the issue for a short time before it recurred. They hinted
that perhaps resetting all settings may help, but that people often complained
about this as a debugging step (and I don’t know how to do it, and they never
did tell me).

Thanks,

Chip

Hi.

I’ve mentioned this bug before, but I now know how to reproduce it. In the At
Bat app, on the audio feeds, during the between inning commercials, MLB will
insert their own ads, or play classic moments of MLB games. When these
insertions are playing, if VoiceOver speaks, when it’s done talking, the volume
of the stream drops, and when the MLB material is done and the audio feed of a
team returns, At Bat doesn’t start. If I hit a button on the iPhone to display
something on the screen, the audio returns, and it’s at a normal level. I
uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change.

Anybody else running into this issue, and, if so, do you have any ideas as to
fixing it?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Trouble with ring tones

2016-08-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, you can add them manually into the Tones folder, but then you need to also
either go to that folder in Windows Explorer and press enter on each new tone
so it plays in iTunes as this is what adds it to the Tones Library.
Alternatively, you can add any tones, then in iTunes go to "File" and "Add
Folder to Library". This will open a standard window, browse to the Tones
folder and then tab to "Select" and press enter.

If you use the automatically add to iTunes it will move your media to the
appropriate folder and add it to the library, if you copy it manually to a
folder it will not add it to the library and you have to either press enter on
the files to play them which will also add them or use the "Add Folder to
Library" method.

Thanks for the help, but I went and checked and all of my tones are checked to
be synced.
So I also noticed another tone listed in iTunes that is not on my phone. Now I
also noticed a tone folder listed under music / iTunes / media, and these tones
are not listed in the tone folder, but they are listed in iTunes. It seems
that the tones listed on my phone is the same as those listed in the tones
folder.

I am new to adding things to my phone. I normally just put files in the
automatic folder, could I also just add tones to the tones folder and they
would be added to iTunes and then sync to my phone?
Any help with this would be appreciated. Just want to do things correctly so
things work the way they should.

Thanks,

Chris

Roger updates fairly frequently, so if this is reported, I’m sure he’ll work on
it.

Yes, absolutely it was the Roger app at fault; as soon as I removed it the
problem stopped happening. I waited a day and reinstalled it, and the problem
came right back.

I like Roger enough I may live with it, now that I know that there’s nothing
wrong with my phone hardware.

Hi,

Are you sure the volume drop is not because the sound has switched to the ear
piece? I have had that problem and I can bring it back by asking Siri a
question. Are you, by any chance, using the Roger app. That is the app that
seems to cause the problem for me.

Thanks,

Chip

RE: A bug with the At Bat app on my iPhone 6S plus, latest iOs and VoiceOver.

2016-08-15 Thread rhs
Hi,

The MLB commercials or classic moments always play at a lower volume than the
game feed. Occasionally the audio stops completely and I have to do a swipe
to get it going again.

I also find that sometimes when I pause the game audio and use another app and
then switch back and restart the game audio that there is no audio. The screen
says that AtBat is playing but there is no sound. I have to switch to another
feed (the same game or a different game) and then switch back in order to get
the audio to work.

I don’t know of a way to fix the issues.

RE: VoiceOver volume problem

2016-08-15 Thread Chip Orange
Yes, you’re right about the notifications problem; I allowed it to do some
types of notifications, which stops the nag dialog, and then I go into a
group’s settings and mute the notifications for that group (which you can only
do for a week at a time, but this stops most of the constant notifications).

Hi,

The fact that Roger switches to the ear piece from the speaker is not new with
the last update. It was doing it before the update. They sure have a lot to
work on in this app. I also hate the fact that when I tell it I don’t want
notifications, it asks me again every time I stop the microphone. I should be
able to turn off notifications and then not be bothered with a question every
time I transmit a message.

This has been reported so, I guess we have to give them time to work on it.
They should look at fixing what needs to be fixed before trying to bring in new
features. Creating a group and inviting people to it is not as easy as it
could be.

Hi Kate. This is new in Roger. What you're describing is a new feature called
live mode which behaves the way you described. It can be turned off in settings
or find the settings button and flick right. Double tap on that and Roger will
behave the way it did before the update. I like it on but I can see where it
can get annoying especially in groups.

the other weird thing that’s happened since the new Roger update is that Roger

I have written the app developers in hopes they will fix this issue!

Hello everyone.

While I much prefer Braille Screen Input on iOS, I discovered with interest
a post on the Applevis website
www.applevis.com
about a tutorial and third party keyboard app called Braille Easy. This app
lets you type Braille in one hand. This reminds me a lot
of another Braille typing application, TypeInBraille, except this one is I
think better because at least Braille Easy Keyboard can
be used system wide whereas TypeInBraille as of today cannot. The only
drawback is it cannot do contracted Braille, and the only
languages supported are English and Arabic. Having said that, it’s
interesting. Oh by the way it is free compared to TypeInBraille
which is paid last I checked. Go search the app store for Braille Easy.
Happy typing.

Re: Trouble with ring tones

2016-08-15 Thread Chris Chaffin

OK, got it figured out for the most part.
Even though Jaws was telling me that the ring tone was checked for syncing, it
for some reason was not.
I then went and turned sync all tones off then back on, and now everything is
syncing properly again.

Still new to the process, but slowly learning!!

Thanks for the help.

Chris

Re: Braille Easy Keyboard

2016-08-15 Thread englishrider91
This was coppied from the app description:
"If you are not accustomed to Braille typing, or simply wish to practice using
this keyboard, we also offer the BrailleEasy-Tutor application with enough
lessons to master this new form of typing."

This other app may be worth checking, out. I don't know how useful it'd be,
having not tried either app, but it may proove useful.

Thanks,
Ari

Same here I managed to get the app in the UK App Store so not sure why you
can’t. Perhaps it’s incorrect spelling as the app has a space in between
“braille” and “easy”.

Re: Braille Easy Keyboard

2016-08-15 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
Ok, thisis going to depend on how well, remaining fingers operate. Can you
form all 3 digits into a line and tap on the desk? can
you isolate various combinations like thunb and third, or thumb and little
fingers, or just the two fingers? All that is enough to
make this work.

I used to use type n braille when you entered two dots at a time from top to
bottom, now you enter 3 dots at a time from left to
right. I gather from the dialogue that swipe or flick right is for blank dots
or even the space.

So, presuming we know which digit is going to be dot1, and by extension, dot 4
afterwards, thisis just double-tapping with
different combinations of digits to form each character. Should become quite
intuative after a while. Assuming right hand use and
thumb as dot1/4, punctuation is going to concentrate on the 3/4th fingers.

Like anything new, one has to think about it some, but for the sake of knowing
how the screen area is divided to register dots
pressed, it shouldn't be more complicated than that.

Ps: does this work in landscape or portrait?

RobH, thinks so.

I also tried this and while I have no problems with their swipe gestures, when
I got to the point where they wanted me to start
practicing characters I was stumped. I must not understand their concept quite
yet. I became blind when I was 16 in an accident
which involved a home-built pipe bomb (don't worry, it had nothing to do with
terrorism or what most people associate with this sort
of stuff today, just stupid teenager stuff) and I had serious hand injuries. As
a result I only have thumb, ring finger and the
little finger on each hand which basically prevents me from using any other
braille keyboards. I can type on a Perkins or other
mechanical brailler as I can push dots 2 and 3 or 5 and 6 with one finger
together when I have to push all 3 dots on one side, but
I don't think this can work with braille keyboards on the iPhone. I thought
this Braille Easy may make it possible for me to use
braille input as it is supposed to work one-handed and on my right hand where I
have better use of the 3 fingers left I could use my
thumb together with the two other fingers. If anybody figures this one out
maybe they can explain it.

Sieghard

Re: Trouble with ring tones

2016-08-15 Thread Chris Chaffin

Thanks,

Chris

RE: Trouble with ring tones

2016-08-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Chris,

Have you set up iTunes to sync all tones or selected tones? If it is set to
sync selected tones you are missing one step: after you add it to your tones
library in iTunes, you have to connect your phone, then go to your device
section in iTunes, go to Tones and tab into the list of tones and put a
checkmark next to the new ringtone.

Regards,
Sieghard

Did you make sure there was no silence at the end of the ring tone making it
longer than it seems? I made tones through Goldwave and had that same issue. I
trimmed silence and all worked fine.

Re: Open Library.org with Adobe acrobat

2016-08-15 Thread Ann Smith
Well, the only device I have to read on for right now is my iPhone 6. So I
guess I can't read any of the Daisy books unless their unprotected. So, how do
I get the EPUB and other electronic books downloaded?
Somebody helped me to install Adobe Digital editions the other day. I read the
help pages, and it said that you need Adobe to be able to read the electronic
books. I have tried to find archive.org's book reader in the App Store and
can't find it.

RE: Braille Easy Keyboard

2016-08-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I also tried this and while I have no problems with their swipe gestures, when
I got to the point where they wanted me to start practicing characters I was
stumped. I must not understand their concept quite yet. I became blind when I
was 16 in an accident which involved a home-built pipe bomb (don't worry, it
had nothing to do with terrorism or what most people associate with this sort
of stuff today, just stupid teenager stuff) and I had serious hand injuries. As
a result I only have thumb, ring finger and the little finger on each hand
which basically prevents me from using any other braille keyboards. I can type
on a Perkins or other mechanical brailler as I can push dots 2 and 3 or 5 and
6 with one finger together when I have to push all 3 dots on one side, but I
don't think this can work with braille keyboards on the iPhone. I thought this
Braille Easy may make it possible for me to use braille input as it is supposed
to work one-handed and on my right hand where I have better use of the 3
fingers left I could use my thumb together with the two other fingers. If
anybody figures this one out maybe they can explain it.

Sieghard
