Re: Some Audible.com questions

2016-08-16 Thread Richard Turner

Audible is owned by Amazon. You can use your Amazon account sign in for Audible.
I always use the Audible.com web site though because some
books on Amazon are MP3 downloads and not in the audible format.
The books range in price from a few dollars, to $30 to $50 and more depending
on the length and type. Most are between $10 and $40.
Those usually cost 1 credit.
Credits can be purchased several ways:
A monthly subscription for around $15 get you one credit per month which gets
you any 1 credit book per month.
With a subscription, you often get one other publication like the New York
times digest. You really ought to read all the details on the audible
subscription page.
I personally go for the Gold membership, which is $149 'per year and gets you
12 credits to use anytime in that 12 month period. Divide 149 by 12 and you get
your per book price.
You also get the publications like New York times digest and other little
benefits.
Plus, if you really don't like a book, you can return it and get your credit
refunded in a certain time period.
There is lots more on their site,.
HTH,
Richard

I can only take 2 field of view reports before both the field of view report

Something else I've noticed is that both the field of view and take picture

second for them to react after being double-tapped. All of these issues happen
whether KNFBReader is the only app in the app switcher or one of a few apps in
the app switcher, so I don't think it's a RAM issue. I could be wrong, of
course, though.

RE: KNFBReader is driving me absolutely insane!

2016-08-16 Thread Richard Turner
Ari,
Since you have the iPhone 6S I'm assuming you are running iOS 9.3.
In that case, this should not be happening.

Even though it is one of the few apps in the app switcher, try rebooting your
phone by holding the home and power buttons down at the same time for about 8
or 9 seconds.
Release them and wait for it to reboot.

Another technique to try is to clear the RAM by holding down the power button
until it says Power off.
Release the power button and press the home button and hold it until the phone
starts talking again.
If you have fingerprint enabled on the home button, use a different finger so
it just doesn't unlock the phone.

If none of that helps, try deleting the app and reinstalling it.

HTH,
Richard

buttons are not as quick to respond as they used to be. Now it takes at least a
second for them to react after being double-tapped. All of these issues happen
whether KNFBReader is the only app in the app switcher or one of a few apps in
the app switcher, so I don't think it's a RAM issue. I could be wrong, of
course, though.

Thanks,
Ari

KNFBReader is driving me absolutely insane!

2016-08-16 Thread englishrider91
I'm running KNFBReader on my 128 GB AT iPhone 6S, and have recently been
having the following issues.

I can only take 2 field of view reports before both the field of view report

having this issue?

Something else I've noticed is that both the field of view and take picture
buttons are not as quick to respond as they used to be. Now it takes at least a

Trouble With Ring Tiones

2016-08-16 Thread clarence carter
I just purchased a 5SE, and I discovered that when I finished the
restoration process, that my usual ringtones were gone. In there place
are new tones, which I don't really car for. I tried the procedure for
loading tones into I Tunes, but the tunes would not move to the phone.
Neither would my original tones.

Has anyone had this problem, and how did they get around it.

Thanks!

Re: scheduling posts using the FB app?

There's an app in the Apple store called DoublePost which I have used
but, realisticallly, I don't use it much because I don't need to. I've
found it a bit, um, clunky, but it does do what it says.

Hope this might help.

RE: Jamb paring question

2016-08-16 Thread Daniel L. Gervais
The best way to avoid the speaker pairing with your device is to turn off
bluetooth on your device. I have both the Jambox Mini and the Big Jambox and
this is the only way to connect the speaker through a wire. You can always
remove the Jambox as a pairable device by going into your bluetooth settings,
finding the speaker, swiping right once to the info button of the speaker and
then selecting "forget this device".

Hope this helps!

I am pretty sure that most speakers don't work as Bluetooth speakers if the
cable is plugged in, at least that seems to be my experience with the Bluetooth
speakers I have had before. If the Jambox can be used with a Bluetooth
connection while it is plugged in, then maybe there is a button combination,
you would have to check the manual which probably can be found online or as an
alternative you can always turn off Bluetooth on your phone via the control
centre or using SIRI.

Actually, I was wanting to use it with the Mac. I do use it with bluetooth when
using the phone. However, when I have used it with the Mac, I found that the
signal is not always consistent, and the speech goes back and forth between the
internal speaker of my Macbook air and the mini jambox. So, I thought I would
try to connect using the cable. And the last time I tried it, when I turned on
the speaker, it announced that it was in paring mode, and paired with the
phone. So, I thought perhaps I could do something to switch back and forth on
the speaker itself, so I would not have to tell the phone to forget the device.
I know the Bose speakers do have dedicated buttons to use as bluetooth or
traditional wired connection. So I was just checking to see if I could perform
a similar function with the Jambox.

Thank you.

Hi,
When you first open Roger if you flick to the right you will find a button that
says play life if this button is on when your messages come in they will play
automatically if it is turned off they will not play. In the description of the
update under what's new this button is explained.

Re: Braille Easy Keyboard

2016-08-16 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
It is pretty clear to me and I have to say I was playing with
this app some time ago and I didn't like it at all. Perhaps I've
needed more practice with it but my typing was slower than typing
on a standard virtual keyboard so I concluded I'll rather stick to
it than using this kind of Braille input. If I want to type
Braille there are iOS Braille Input as well as MBraille.
I understand this app could be useful for onehanded or people who
don't have all fingers but I doubt they'll get faster doing this
  than typing on standard keyboard.
It's quite inconvinient to have two gestures for typing single
character as it happens with one column characters, it just takes
more time than sviping to the desired key on virtual keyboard and
onehanded can also do that, right?

  S poštovanjem

Hi,

For me it works in either landscape or portrait

To calibrate the dots, just place and hold your three fingers
on-screen for about a second in any way you prefer.

To do a character the braille input is broken up per column. So
you first use your three fingers to create the dots in the first
column, which include dots 1 2 and 3. you then use your three
fingers again to create the dots in the second column, that being
dots 4 5 and 6. For each input, you must represent both columns,
  so dots 1 2 and 3 first followed by dots 4 5 and 6. If a column
has no dots in it, you represent this by doing a single finger
flick right. a space is signified by a single finger flick down.

For Example to enter the letter l followed by a space you would
tap three fingers on the screen to enter dots 1 2 and 3,
(representing the dots in the first column), then do a swipe right
to enter an empty column, (representing the dots in the second
column), followed by a swipe down to enter the space.

An n would be entered as tapping dots 1 and 3 together
(representing the dots in the first column), followed by dots 1
and 2 together. (which actually represent the dots 4 and 5 in the
  second column).

I get the concept but its still difficult to explain via email, so
I hope the above makes some sense.

  Cheers,

  Brett.

to

make this work.

I used to use type n braille when you entered two dots at a time
from top to bottom,  now you enter 3 dots at a time from left to

right.  I gather from the dialogue that swipe or flick right is
for blank dots or even the space.

So, presuming we know which digit is going to be dot1,  and by
extension, dot 4 afterwards, thisis just double-tapping with

different combinations of digits to form each character.  Should
become quite intuative after a while.   Assuming right hand use
and

thumb as dot1/4, punctuation is going to concentrate on the
3/4th fingers.

Like anything new, one has to think about it some, but for the
sake of knowing how the screen area is divided to register dots

pressed, it shouldn't be more complicated than that.

Ps:  does this work in landscape or portrait?

RobH, thinks so.

It only goes into pairing mode when you press the pairing button, surely?
I just plug mine in with a stub lead and it works.

Subject: Jamb paring question

Hello everyone,
I would like to connect my jambox speaker by cable rather than bluetooth. How
do I keep the speaker from going into pairing mode.
thanks.

Re: Braille Easy Keyboard

2016-08-16 Thread Brett

Hi,

For me it works in either landscape or portrait

To calibrate the dots, just place and hold your three fingers on-screen
for about a second in any way you prefer.

To do a character the braille input is broken up per column. So you
first use your three fingers to create the dots in the first column,
which include dots 1 2 and 3. you then use your three fingers again to
create the dots in the second column, that being dots 4 5 and 6. For
each input, you must represent both columns, so dots 1 2 and 3 first
followed by dots 4 5 and 6. If a column has no dots in it, you represent
this by doing a single finger flick right. a space is signified by a
single finger flick down.

For Example to enter the letter l followed by a space you would tap
three fingers on the screen to enter dots 1 2 and 3, (representing the
dots in the first column), then do a swipe right to enter an empty
column, (representing the dots in the second column), followed by a
swipe down to enter the space.

An n would be entered as tapping dots 1 and 3 together (representing the
dots in the first column), followed by dots 1 and 2 together. (which
actually represent the dots 4 and 5 in the second column).

I get the concept but its still difficult to explain via email, so I
hope the above makes some sense.

Cheers,

Brett.

Ok, thisis going to depend on how well, remaining fingers operate. Can you
form all 3 digits into a line and tap on the desk? can
you isolate various combinations like thunb and third, or thumb and little
fingers, or just the two fingers? All that is enough to
make this work.

I used to use type n braille when you entered two dots at a time from top to
bottom, now you enter 3 dots at a time from left to
right. I gather from the dialogue that swipe or flick right is for blank dots
or even the space.

So, presuming we know which digit is going to be dot1, and by extension, dot 4
afterwards, thisis just double-tapping with
different combinations of digits to form each character. Should become quite
intuative after a while. Assuming right hand use and
thumb as dot1/4, punctuation is going to concentrate on the 3/4th fingers.

Like anything new, one has to think about it some, but for the sake of knowing
how the screen area is divided to register dots
pressed, it shouldn't be more complicated than that.

Ps: does this work in landscape or portrait?

RobH, thinks so.

I also tried this and while I have no problems with their swipe gestures, when
I got to the point where they wanted me to start
practicing characters I was stumped. I must not understand their concept quite
yet. I became blind when I was 16 in an accident
which involved a home-built pipe bomb (don't worry, it had nothing to do with
terrorism or what most people associate with this sort
of stuff today, just stupid teenager stuff) and I had serious hand injuries. As
a result I only have thumb, ring finger and the
little finger on each hand which basically prevents me from using any other
braille keyboards. I can type on a Perkins or other
mechanical brailler as I can push dots 2 and 3 or 5 and 6 with one finger
together when I have to push all 3 dots on one side, but
I don't think this can work with braille keyboards on the iPhone. I thought
this Braille Easy may make it possible for me to use
braille input as it is supposed to work one-handed and on my right hand where I
have better use of the 3 fingers left I could use my
thumb together with the two other fingers. If anybody figures this one out
maybe they can explain it.

Regards,
Sieghard

I downloaded the app and played with it for a bit. Applevis may do a podcast
today. I hope so because I couldn't get anywhere on
my own.

Hello everyone.

While I much prefer Braille Screen Input on iOS, I discovered with
interest a post on the Applevis website www.applevis.com about a
tutorial and third party keyboard app called Braille Easy. This app lets you
type Braille in one hand. This reminds me a lot of
another Braille typing application, TypeInBraille, except this one is I think
better because at least Braille Easy Keyboard can be
used system wide whereas TypeInBraille as of today cannot. The only drawback is
it cannot do contracted Braille, and the only
languages supported are English and Arabic. Having said that, it’s interesting.
Oh by the way it is
